@writer2036 I heard Eggman was what they called him in Japan in the early days... Anyway, the transition began in Sonic Adventure. Some called him Robotnick, Sonic and his friends called him Eggman. You know, I do like the sound of the Eggman Empire. Robotnick Empire doesn't seem right for some reason and I don't care for Robotnickland or Eggmanland. The Eggman Empire works for me.

Though, Japan compromised, since his name is now officially "Dr. Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik". Eggman is now only his nickname, though he generally calls himself it so it can't be an insult by Sonic and his friends anymore.
