To keep the cabin from flooding when it rains just build a berm about a foot high around the outside walls of the cabin. You can also dig a trench away from the outside walls of the cabin and fill it with pea gravel. You can then take the dirt that you dug from the trench and use it to build the berm. To avoid the berm from eroding plant grass seed on top of it and cover it with straw, but not so thick that it kills the grass seed.
@ericinthewoods the spot i am building on is actually the null of a hill that is by a field but what i am doing is digging a trench around it with another treach to go down the hill like draninage gonna make fire in it to bake the clay and fill it with rock then the floor issue is being done with about 8 inches to a foot of gravel spread across the inside of the walls
basicly i am highly limitied on what i can do because of screwed up tax codes if i do it differently it is taxed as a residence
@pheenix42 working on making a small stand to set the cell phone on i dont own a camera other than the cell phone too broke to buy 1 but gonna show each step as i go and seperatly show how to prepare the ground and raise the posts and how to work the logs and all with it on the stand instead of carrying it around
@nictaylor00 the basic princple to it is all primitive technques so basicly seeing as the ground is red clay gonna bake it thouroly for about a week with trenches i will dig to make fire in and keep it going non stop then when i done i will fill in rocks ontop the coils the fire pit inside the cabin will help with the area inside the cabin to stay baked but i will make a sort of stone floor inside also which will be part of later instalments as each step will be documented and each techique too
@MaDdDaWg100 That sounds really cool! From doing my cabin, the foundation is the most critical. Can't wait to see. Do try and get a better camera. You will thank yourself for it. Try and get one that has time lapse if you can.
@nictaylor00 i am trying to save up to get something better atm all i have is my cell phone to broke to get more than that so making a small stand to stick it on and got a few micro sd cards to save footage too til i can afford something

@ericinthewoods and it being taxed as a residance would cost me now they saying tax rate of between 1500.00 to 2500.00 a year

@ericinthewoods as for the berm not a good idea around here the fire ants are horrible and would take the berm over

Could you re-shoot this with a better video camera? The info is good, but watching the picture stutter all the time makes it nearly unwatchable! =)

With a dirt floor how do you keep from flooding when it rains? Do you have to build up the floor?
