Indeed, he is the bad boy - and a personal friend of mine. I see him play about three times a year. No one else plays or sounds like him. Surprisingly, he now plays a Gibson as well.
I saw Magic Slim about a year ago in Marquette, Michigan. It was awesome! The fella who performed "Mustang Sally" had just died and him and his band played "Mustang Sally". It was a great show.

I met Magic in Ardmore, PA of all places. He's playing a 60s era Fender Jazzmaster straight up, no preamp, no sustain, no box.
