The grenade launcher upper section of the weapon, firing 25mm instead of 20mm grenades, while the lower section was a modified G36 and made by H&K (just as they did for the XM8) for the OICW system.

OICW was a failure - Too heavy, too big, required a battery on the soldier's back & the scope system was touch sensitive to knocks & bangs.

Ambitious and reached a little too far at the time, but this is one major improvement over it.
