  • Wow! That's a ton of growth!

LOL I totally got back from spring break the same day! And I had set up an NPT right before I left too!

When I got back not of my stems were dead though and the crypts were melted. :[ I've been really busy since spring break too so I haven't had a proper weekend to tear it down and start over.

I'm considering giving up on the NPT route and going for something like Eco Complete or some kind of inert substrate and root tabs.

  • @Litameena4chan I couldn't believe how much it had grown....it's a bit ridiculous honestly. Hell, maybe we're all better off just planting our tanks and not touching them for a week at a time.

Sorry to hear about the crypts and stems. Crypts can be very touchy. You never know what will set them off.

  • @AquaStudent Yeah totally! :D

Whoops what I meant to type was "not all of the stems" half (like the water sprite, annacharis, and bocopa(creeping jenny?)) were doing quite well actually and had started growing above the water line. =]

My crypts were all totally melted though.

Two managed to bounce back and have a few leaves but I think I lost my red crypt completely as it never did produce leaves again. I'm still holding out hope that every two weeks when I clear the water surface it'll grow.

  • @Litameena4chan It's possible you never know. It's surprising how much those guys can grow back...even after completely melting.

  • looking great =) love the crypts

  • @MKoaquariums Thanks. They grow like mad! I've heard many horror stories about melting crypts but so far I haven't had much of a problem.

  • wow AWESOME TANK! Love the plants!

  • what is the plant at the top of the tank menny thnks neil and what light do u use

  • @DaughtersBoi The plant I have floating is mostly water sprite. There's also a strand of pennywort in there but you can't really tell.

I'm using the stock flourescent 15 watt tube that came with the tank.

  • looking great! watersprite grows like mad, eh?

  • @AquaJtang It took awhile but now it's growing in so thick! I'm amazed at how thick the stems are.

  • @AquaStudent Wait until you put it in the substrate. Its been known to grow even more once its rooted.

  • wats the brand of that filter

  • @SeansTanks The one that I'll be using on the 5g betta tank? It's a Red Sea Nano Filter...rated for up to 3 gallons but it'll be perfect for a betta
