I wish everybody would recognize that Dale himself never wanted to be called "Sr", i mean his name was and will always be Dale Earnhardt and his son is automatically Dale Jr. which is allright. Isn't it enough to call his son Jr. in order to make it obsolete to call his dad Sr., i mean it's very obvious who is who when the son is called Jr, isn't it? lol i always wondered about this, sry about my rant, but here is proof of Dale Earnhardt himself how he feels! thx

Intro Is Great. Coverage was Great. 2000 was a good year for nascar but this Race. Was prob the downfall of the entire season..... i have to say that 2001 had to be the best 500 ever other then the tragic passing of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

THANK YOU I'm not the only one who realizes that we have more of the bullshit pre-race show than the race itself. Also with the 12 noon start time, I know the ratings are declining because part of that. if your a REAL race fan, they can start a race at 7am and trust me people will still watch it. If its a day race, let it be a day race, none of the bullshit day to night shit, either its a day race or a night race.

and i hate how now, if you want to watch the prerace on speed, you have to change the channel to fox just to get the race, i missed some of the beginning of the 09 daytona 500 because i forgot to change the damn channell, wish it was like the 90's again, even though i was born in 94 and missed alot of good racing.

Though I am for the idea that the Daytona 500 should be experimented at nighttime in the future (President's Weekend, plus a not-very-slick race track), I HATE the long-ass pre-intros too. The very first Daytona 500 I watched was in 1997, and they were racing by 12:30.

the racing at daytona today is 10x better than it was in 2000. i think the 2000 daytona 500 had like 3 lead changes.

first off, racing started getting crappy before that, second off, 9 lead changes, and 14 in all of Speedweeks that year. They just had a bad combo for the Speedweeks.

ok, after this race they fixed the plate racing, but this race sucked. Even Earnhardt said it sucked. 9 lead changes all race buddy in the 500 that year. Thats shitty. This year at dega, they had 60 lead changes. I didnt say that its better now, but the plate racing is more competitive
