Who ever said Elvis was through in '76. Listen to his gorgeous voice on this track. With all due respect to Roger's original version, THIS IS IT for me. Listen how he mounts the scales on "how bitter will be this last farewell." Can this be the same voice that gave us "Jailhouse Rock" twenty years earlier?! YES IT IS! And whoever produced this lovely video to go along with the song loves The King as much as I do. FIVE STAR PRODUCTION and most deserving of the thousands of hits its received.

Roger's version is the definitive work for sure, but Elvis does a fantastic job, and puts his own twist on it, as only Elvis can. Great song, that will live forever.

AWESOME would Love to have heard and seen him do this in person. I wasen't as rich or fortunate to see him in concerts everywhere I suppose that was never to be but I feel the closeness I have had with Elvis was one of a higher power and he certainly knew what and who that power was. It never surprised me that he was able as one of his men said to part the rain and bring out the sunlight. with FAITH IN GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. ELVIS HAD FAITH IN GOD AND THEN SOME. I admit to preferring Roger Whittaker's version, but having said that, I also find Elvis's version to be very moving, and I really love this video tribute to The King. Thanks for posting this great memory to a polished performer who died too young.

@stellabystars I, too, prefer Roger's version, but this is just beautiful. It would have been even better if he had been the only one singing...no back up singers. They actually detract from the song. His voice alone brings out the emotion. What a beautiful voice that man had.

@stellabystars Elvis heard Whittaker's version and loved it. Loved it so much he had it played back to him more than a few times (much to the chagrin of those around him LOL). So, having said that, Elvis recorded it and gave it the Elvis touch!!
