i was wanting to do intel in the navy but ive decided on bein a combat medic. seems like a vital part of our military and i can use my skills after the military. aka its bad ass.
I am currently in tech school to become an Air Force medic. Here at Sheppard AFB, we learn all about the different medical roles filled by the different branches of the armed forces. One of my classmates was a Corpsman for 23 years with the Navy. Right now, all I care about is learning my craft so I can go out there and do my job well. Hopefully, when all is said and done, I'll be able to look back on my career and know that I've helped bring some of our boys home alive.
i am 13 and i will grow up and fight for this country of ours and i would die for it with honor and courage, the role i would like to do is field medic in the army, i was wondering if they still had medics that were still in war but helped the wounded that while still in the battle.....like the ones with the red crosses on there helmets in world war two
@littledutchboy1996 Go for it! Yes, every combat unit has medics that do the same job day in and day out as the rest of the grunts. But the idea is to save your own wounded battle buddies and make the enemy die for its country! A dead medic is useless to his unit in combat. Your honor is in keeping your buddies alive to carry on. Good luck! - former 1st Cav medic
@littledutchboy1996 Go for it! I was your age when I decided to be a combat medic. All combat units have medics and they do the same job as everyone else. But the idea is to save your battle buddies and make the enemy die for its country. A dead medic is useless to its platoon. You get honor by keeping your soldiers alive. Good Luck! - Former 1st Cav medic
Most medics/Doctors and such like cant spell or have very bad hand writing, its widly known but this doesnt mean they are a bad medic, so i wouldnt just jump to conclusions.
just got back from AIT myself, just keep your head in the game, keep up your motivation and stay OUT of trouble, there where over 20 people dropped from my company due to underage drinking. Not sure how old you are but thought i would warn you, your in for a long ride but its well worth it!
I was a Corspman from 1986-1997. Try to think of it this way; All the Armed Forces are cousins and the Marine/Doc relationship are brothers. And although most Marines will give respect to a Corpsman just because they are a Corpsman, when you are actually with a Marine unit you need to prove you are an asset to the team just like everyone else.
my husband is a combat medic, thanks for this vid, it helps me to understand just a tiny bit of what he will be going through. i want to help him every way that i can.
To see an Air Force Flight Medic performing his duties in Iraq for his 3rd deployment, check out my brother, Jeremy May Iraq. It shows the continuation of medical care and evacuation at the next level. Jeremy is 23 and a Nursing student at UNLV when not deployed with the Calif Air Nat'l Guard in the Middle East.
Um...no. A Marine is a Marine. Someone who is not in the USMC is not a Marine. I'm not saying that Marines disrespect or look down on Corpsmen, but they are definitely NOT Marines.
Obviously U Dont Really Have A Clue, I Know Countless Marines and U Ask Any Marine Anywhere Any Time Who Has Been In Combat And Theyll Say The Exact Thing That I Said, Not Only Are They Apart Of The Marines But Are Looked Up Upon Even More Because Of There Abilities Not Only As A Medic, But As A Soldier Trained As A Marine, U Need To Get Ur Facts Straight, Just Because His Branch Tape Says Navy Doesnt Mean He Isnt Apart Of The Marines, Ask Anyone Who Has Served In Combat
Talk to someone in real life before pretending to know what you're talking about on the internet. Yes, Corpsmen get training so that they're not a hindrance to the Marines they serve with. No, the Marines do not consider Corpsmen as Marines. I don't know what recruiter told you this, but he's blowing smoke up your ass. I know several Marines who've seen combat. They won't say anything like that. Don't get me wrong, anyone who serves has my respect, but only those in the USMC are Marines.
I Do Know wat im talkn about, my closest friends are marines n im already signed up as a corpsman, n besides if the marines had a medic field i would have joined but they dont, so dont think for a second that corpsman dont have wat it takes to be a marine, n another thing to look at is if ther not considered marines then y do they wear they same uniform as marines n y are they stationed with them
*sigh* They wear the same uniforms and live at the same posts because they're job is to take care of them. You're acting like I'm somehow implying that corpsmen are less than Marines. I'm not. I'm simply saying they're not the same thing. If something like this can get you wound up, you're gonna have a hell of a time in training.
It dosn't really matter...either way they save the Marines Life...so i don't think that the Marines really care what Service their under...but you are correct...but it is the closest that a Navy guy can get to becomming a Marine...they live/deplay with Marines and even get to wear the same uniforms...if i'm not mistakin
Wrong. Those are US NAVY (HM) Fleet Marine Force. I went HM and my shipdate is 20090202. I can't wait to be attached to the true elite of the US Military forces! Hooyah!
Basically I could get in as much action as I wanted. Most units aren't that cool though, and they usually make you sit in the back by the platoon leader or commander or whoever is in charge.
If marked, such as in a medevac chopper, only defensive weapons, i.e. sidearms. If not marked, you are a regular infantryman until someone calls "doc," then you sling your weapon and go to work.
Yes. In the 28 months I've spent in Iraq so far in the 101st and 4th ID, I've never once been in a marked vehicle or worn a placard. It's nothing but a big assed target. The only way you could tell I was a medic was the big unmarked medic pack on my back. And that's only if you know what you were looking for. Also, both times I've been to Iraq, but especially the first, the units I was with were cool, and if I wanted to be on an assault squad, I could be.
uhoh!!! my remarks were made to some neophyte who posted rubbish.. not the medics eeeeeeeeeeeee great job folks.. i've worked next to nurses who were medics -- tough nurses. love it!
Will the Navy accept you into its corpsman schools if you were previously marine enlisted? My recruiter as well as my navel science instructer both say no.

Damn. You would think that someone as smart as a surgeon would have better grammer than you. You're worthless and probably one of those malpractice surgeons, if any at all.
I am a flight medic with the army and I have to say that flight medics and crews always have the best time! I wish I could get back in the bird. I'm with a MP company now as thier Doc with the 101st Airborne(Air Assault).
Chase, I made this video back in 2005 after my group finished up the CAEVAC mission and turned it over to the east coast HM crew. The intro is the last few seconds of 'Parabol' which then blends into 'Parabola' , both by Tool off their Lateralus album.
There is nothing that fills me with the feeling of pride like watching all of you go about your day to day! From the jokes, to the casulties it shows your human side but more importantly the hero side, the heros you all truly are!!! Thank you for your service!
Im sure that you meant well, but next time, realize that nearly everyone in these photos are Navy Corpsmen, not Army Medics
