  • you stopped at the best part!!!

  • The real funny part, in my opinion, is that this was pretty hardcore to see on TV back in the day. Especially for Star Trek.

  • "Oh man. I've shot Marvin in the face!"

  • SEE THAT? THAT'S what we do to things that SEEK PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE!

  • @Gasbandit Right on! They can take that peace-loving, carebear nonsense and cram it up their poopers!

  • he was not a merry man

  • I remember seeing this episode when I was seven years old.

    It terrified me.

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot !??!?!? What the FUUUUUUU???? I've never seen his head blowing off. LOLLOlololOLOL. It must've been cut out by the tv-networks....

  • I wish there was a college course that would teach us how to puff our necks out like that guy.

  • this traumatized me as a child.

  • T first contact with the Trill did not go so well.

  • Man : we dont mean harm. We seek peaceful coexistence.

Picard : Seek This Mother Fucker !

  • Note to self: Try not to sneer so much during tense peace negotiations.

  • Pure '80's. This show really got better with time.

  • Riker fired with his thumb or something...

  • You're 13, go and do your homework

  • Coolest thing ever...

  • Hehe, I can't believe they were allowed to show this on TV!

  • IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZARH

  • @Museite no, ur firin ur spam

  • @tremuloser : last five letters of your username. Apply them to yourself tenfold.

  • @Museite shutup, faggot.

  • @tremuloser Not only are you a fool of the highest order, you have lame comebacks. Real internet tough guy.

  • @Museite and yet you're still carrying on this conversation. lolfail.

  • @tremuloser

You make me smile. It's not a conversation. You are just a little worm who was feeling lonely and felt like posting an asenine response to a comment which had absolutely nothing to do with you. Nobody likes you, everybody hates you, kid.

  • @Museite look who'se talking. you are actually having a conversation through the internet. don't deny it. we're botlh talking to each other. still, lolfail.

  • Isn`t that some form of space mumps?!

  • Fuck peace! We're gonna blow your head off!

  • I give this head explosion a 7 , 10 being the one on Scanners.

    Thank you and good night.

  • set phazers to head explosion.

  • I remember watching this when I was like 11 years old and laughing my ass off. So utterly incongruous with the rest of the show.

BTW, I remember reading that the head explosion was censored in the UK.

  • I love this episode XDD it's one of the best episodes from the 1st season of TNG. I always liked this scene, Picard fires and it seems like Riker thinks, hell, me too! XD and fires too XD (just next to this scene) / this were the initial Borg concept but they changed the idea (thank god). We have Stargate for this enemy concept...

  • Lol, why the fuck did they kill him? He meant no harm!

  • @Fajjani PROTIP: Never, NEVER, propose "peaceful coexistence" to the Federation (or the U.S.). That is what THEY will offer YOU after having confiscated whatever resources you possess and correcting your primitive culture by imposing their own. If you jump the gun and try to coexist before they've neutered you...YOU WILL BE PHASER'D!

  • @Fajjani he was infected

  • LMFAO HAHA no fight? just a head explosion?!

  • Haha, normally they vapourize. But this time the head exploded. Not very treckyish.

  • that's because the phasers were not set on "vaporize" only to "kill" and the alien parasite gave the human body some resistance to phasers

  • so fucking leet

  • That shit was chunky

  • I think the head blowing up still looks really good after twenty years, where as most of the digital stuff these days ages so fast.

Having said that the puppet in the stomach is hysterically bad now

  • I liked Season One AT THE TIME. As the show progressed it was clear that the it was the weakest season

  • I agree, to an extent. The show was beginning to find itself, and I would dare to say that by season 3, they had hit their stride. The shows were becoming less and less self contained and had better acting, and were less TMP-like. This scene jolts an otherwise fairly uninteresting episode.

  • Like John Travolta and Sam L.

  • @Ashenge Holy shit I never noticed that. I wonder if Tarantino was influenced by this episode?

  • LOL.

I literally spit my drink out when his head exploded. It looked like a watermelon blowing up. xD

  • Reportedly, what they did was load something up with animal entrails from a butcher's shop and used a small explosive to set it off. The part where his head is disintegrated is superimposed.

  • This is awesome! Tha actor playing "Lt. Cmdr Dexter Remmick" is a customer in my shop (not gonna say which one, don't want to get in trouble, and he is a MAJOR ASSHOLE to all the staff here!! Eat phaser, jerk!

  • LMAO!

  • love how his head goes plop.

  • personally this was my favourite one, I don't see why you have it as comedic and such, I mean sure, the effects are dated compared to today but seriously, this is pretty damn graphic for any prime time show in the 80s.

they did bring this race back in the DS9 books, where Ezri finds out that they are actually an offshoot of the Trill, and thwarts their plot to take it over.

and yes Skin of Evil sucked horribly, partly cause the hottest trek babe of all time died in it...

  • Take that, hippie!

  • This episode was originally going to create a long running story line with the species in it. But they never came back to it. If you remember at the end there was a zoom out with a beacon noise signaling out into space. I saw this on a show about the history of TNG some years ago, dont remember all the details.

  • I don't like this episode.

Of all the TNG (and maybe even all Star Trek) I thought this particular episode had the most unrealistic setting and storyline, that really just did not fit with the saga. I think it was down to that 1st series trying to make an impact with action/horror/special effects. In fact there is a lot about the 1st series I didn't like. I usually skip it completely.

Still, it was pretty funny. Got to give it credit for that.
