I am shooting football highlights with my digital camcorder. Any advice for the best quality of shooting, AND my youtube uploads have not been very good ???
thank you for taking time to make these small lessons, i already know those things but it's great to see that someone took time to say it to everyone, it must be a good help :)
A couple other tips: check out "Videomaker's Wheelchair Dolly 101," also, strapping the camera to a plank and moving it with one person on each end is a fun solution as well.
Awesome. I'm not entirely sure about the plank though. I'm a bit worried it would wobble and create the sensation that the camera was floating on water.
ok, but still noticeable and not recommended. I was trying it out actually today. took me a solid hour to properly set it up to be smooth. But still not good.
If you cant get a steadicam, this would be a backup. But even those cheap $500ish stabilizers would be far better.

what is the difference between a grip handle and a Steadicam?. Which is better for me for short films? I have a Canon Vixia HG21.
Between Opteka X-GRIP and Manfrotto 585 ModoSteady? which do you recommend for short films?

Could always buy a tripod but this is impractical at times. Monopods are also good when you have to hold the camera for log periods of time.

What about moving and keeping the camera steady, e.g. walking.

bend your knees so that you don't have the camera bouncing up and down. although chasing scenes are better off with the camera bouncing like that.

If you cant afford a Steadicam use a tripod when walking.
extend the legs out as far as possible.
It changes the center of gravity and is smoother
