Just wanted to let everyone know that FLORIDA is making a remix of this song for his next album, with the San Fran philharmonic, Lady Gaga, a donkey (for some reason, or for Lady Gaga, pick one) and white bitches in thongs of course.
Yes and no. The GB uses the Zilog (Z80) sound chip and it has 4 sound channels (2 pulsewave, 1 multiwave, 1 noise). The NES/Famicom uses the Ricoh (2A03) sound chip and it has 5 sound channels (2 pulsewave, 1 triangle, 1 noise, 1 DPCM).
This is completely wrong. First: the Game Boy has no Z80, it has a modified 8080. Everyone claims falsely it has a Z80, not knowing that the Game Boy is lacking most of the Z80 features, like the second register set.
Second: the sound core is integrated into the DMG-CPU chip besides the CPU. This however doesn't make the CPU the sound chip, since the CPU does all computation work.
And last: this video was made from a bad emulator. The real sound can be heard at explod2A03 channel.
@porcorosso81 Not necessarily completely wrong about the GB Tech specs. I'm pretty sure the GB didn't have Ricoh 2A03 features like the NES sound chip. True, it does have the 8080 modification tech specs, but yes, it did have some Z80 capabilities.
Though, I can completely agree with you about this particular video coming from a shitty emulator compared to explod2A03's video since he mentioned that his was recorded from REAL hardware in the video description.
The thing which triggered my reponse is: the Z80 isn't a sound chip. But then, the Game Boy doesn't have a Z80 to begin with. Like the 2A03, the DMG-CPU chip has both CPU and sound core integrated into one chip. I guess, like saying "2A03 sound", the term "DMG-CPU sound" might be okay.
The music of Batman is particularly interesting, because it exposes lots of inaccuracies in Game Boy emulators. N. Kodaka was a true genius in handling the NES and Game Boy hardware.
You guys are all using a Game Boy emulator which doesn't get the sound right. On this video, the drums sound like hitting sand paper. On the original hardware, they actually sound like real synth dums and KICK ASS!
Un F***in believable. It has been years since I heard and played this game. I beat this game 1000 times. Great job putting this music and living the memory. I still have this game. I think I will play it again
This sounds like boss music

Please consider uploading the entire title music sequence if possible, it is by far the sickest tune in the original GameBoy series!
Thanks again!!!
