  • Thanks--very helpful.

  • Thanks mate, if i didn't get my tie done up, my misses would of hung me with

    Tony, Australia

  • I like the blue tie.

  • good job

  • Best tie knotting video in all of youtube!

  • This is the easiest one out of all the videos! Welldone :)

  • FUCK ME!! I CANT DO IT!!

  • Of all the tutorials on tying ties I've, this is the best. No BS introductions, no American accents. Just straight to the business with a nice Anglo-style accent. Good!

  • I love reading the comments of how happy everyone is when they finally get it.... they're cute! : )P

  • Thank you sooooooo much! :D

  • I still can't do it.....

  • Didn't help me much.

  • @NowThaTiRecall And they get paid a ton, not to mention their expertise in etiquette, etc.

  • Thnx that helped:)

  • i got so excited i can finally tie a necktie stress free out of all of these fuckin videos this actually helped no jokes no irrelevant talking props to you

  • Best tie tying video I've seen. No chatter. No jokes just 1-2-3- & even an old burnt out meatalhead can do it. Thanks, cheers!

  • I never get it to be a triangle !

  • geez.... he made it look easy.

  • thx that helped

  • Thank you!

  • damn! among all videos on how to knot or tie a tie that i've tried & almost died, this one here taught me very well. lol. now i know how to tie a fuckin' tie. haha! hola at me peeps! ROTFL!!!

  • Damn!!! I dont know why but this video actually taught me lol.

  • You are welcome.

  • out of a million videos you're the one that helped the most. thank you!

  • maybe you should use a lighter tie next time, it would read better.

  • @Shinywhite,

Lol me to I learned about 5 min before graduation.

  • i still cant tie a tie

  • It really is the right time to learn making a tie when you have like 20 minutes before you have to get going.

  • Thank you sooo much lol i always try to find videos before parties but yours has taught me permanently :D

  • lol, i only knew how to tie the 4-in-hand-knot and i would have to keep redoing it to make it look straight and then i would just leave it tied so i wouldn't have to worry about it again, but now im re-tieing them with the half and full windsor and they all look way better than before! thanks alot!

  • you really do not know how you saved my ass today

    i subbed and thumed up

  • Thanks mate, a real help, i feel like a man know that i know how to tie a tie.

  • UGH I HATE IT!! its always the thiner part that gets longer1!!!! help me here !!

  • @TheEfefefefefefefefe Start the whole sequence with the thinner part shorter than you have been doing

  • @TheEfefefefefefefefe

what i do is, when the tie is around my neck make the broad side a little longer than doulble the length of the skinny side. so like if it was hanging down untied, fold the broad side up so that it is slightly longer than the skinny side is.. get it??

  • COOL!

  • Now I can help my dad and friends with the tie! Thanks

  • Is that a french cuff shirt?

  • @virginiatechfanx No, it is a single cuff. A French cuff is longer and folded back on itself, so the cuff links hold together four layers of cuff.

  • Love your accent!

  • You saved me from MAJOR embarrassment!! It's been so long I forgot how to tie a tie. Thank much.

  • Good job teaching ..... I learned how to in my first try.. Thanks

  • the full windsor looks official

  • Thanks for your help, by the way this is off topic, were u born or spent a lot of time in South Africa? You have the SA accent in my oppinion lol

  • @sendricardo The person doing the tie and commenting is from South Africa, well spotted.

  • @ModernButlers haha it's a unique accent and when I saw that your channel was based in America I was just curuious to know if I was right. Thanks for letting me know and keep on the good work in speading butler knowledge =)

  • Thank you so much!

  • very nice, thank you man. Four in hand was quick and easy. Thanks again!

  • Can it be mirrored?

  • @jlyh55 If you mean "Can you tie the tie going to the right initially, instead of the left" then "Yes" is the answer.

  • @ModernButlers Hmm.. still dont quite get it...

  • @jlyh55 Maybe if you could clarify what the question or difficulty is, we can take it from there? Thanks.

  • TRYING TO LEARN IN FIFTEEN MINUTES BEFORE PARTY THANK YOU BUT NOW IM WASTING TIME WITH THIS COMMENT

  • @ittooklongtomakethis hahahahaha

  • @ittooklongtomakethis I hope you made the party in time, and thanks for taking the time to provide feedback

  • @ModernButlers Our tie in are school are just like, 2 feet long. Would i be able to make a proper tie??

  • @BeaTanLim Ties do not fit all people, as people are of different heights. The thin part allows some leeway, as the tie can be properly tied for the tip of the front part to be over the belt, while allowing the thin part behind it to be of different lengths and not visible. However, a short person with a tie made for a tall person will not be able to make the math add up, which is why short people should have shorter ties and taller people, longer ties.

  • @ModernButlers Ah thank you. Maybe I bought the wrong tie. Oh well. THANKS! hahah

  • Lol is it me or did anyone Notice this video was posted on 9/11?

  • 8 people wear clip-ons

  • thanks so much

  • I have seen many instructional videos on how to tie a Full Windsor, and I have to say yours is the best. Nearly all the other videos finnal product were, sadly, very sloppy.

The tie itself was a wonderful choice in pattern and color for the dimple. I am sure this knowledge will come in handy in the future.Thank you.

  • I pin my tie in a triangle knot ;)

It's easy and you can't really tell that I have pinned it

  • Thanks heaps for that I was rushing to a wedding freaking out about my tie! awesome easy vid!

  • Thanks a lot, for this! I didn't know there was more than one way to tie a Tie. [: The last Tie looked very good, by the way.

  • this video worth a million view, thanks so much

  • I'm 16 and don't know how to tie a tie so the video helped me a lot. I showed my mom the Full Windsor first and she thought it was too wide. Then I showed her the 4-in-hand and she thought that was much better. Guess she isn't use to fancy

  • Your arguments are emotion based and not founded on facts ... and therefore I cannot go on.

  • @HowToTieAneckTie It is a good idea to cease this discourse. You have presented two facts (that you use a Dimple Clip and that it will hold the dimple all day), which I am prepared to grant as factual; the rest has been misconception masquerading as fact. And it would have been less disingenuous had you stated clearly that you have posted similar self-promotions on other tie sites, and that you were engaged in hawking your product. I don't perceive it as a useful product, hence my objection.

  • Great video. It is the most helpful one I have seen. Thank you ModernButlers for teaching me how to properly tie a neck tie

  • @matt4055 You are welcome, as are all others who have expressed appreciation.

  • I use a Dimple Clip to Dimple my Neck Tie

    wwwDIMPLECLIPcom

  • @HowToTieAneckTie I am not too enthralled at having the site used for advertizing, but I am going to leave this in with a heads-up that this dimple clip is a good example of something that is not needed. The simple use of three fingers, as has been done for centuries, will make the dimple.

  • @ModernButlers

On that note I suppose that in order to achieve a flat collar an individual should simply iron their collar rather then make use of the popular "Collar Stay" ... ?

  • @HowToTieAneckTie

Perhaps it might be instructive to enquire what problem you were trying to solve in conceiving of this solution?

  • @ModernButlers

" instructive to enquire" That doesn't even make sense.

The Dimple Clip solves a problem of (holding a dimpled form) in your necktie throughout the day.

Similar products that you don't argue the necessity of, would be ...

Collar stays - apposed to Ironing and or starching your collars

A belt - apposed to simply wearing tighter fitting pants , etc

If you don't think this product is a good idea ... Google "how to dimple a tie" and see if everyone else shares your point of view

  • @HowToTieAneckTie "Instructive to enquire" does make sense: it was instructive to me, enquiring of you, why you came up with this solution. Now I know what problem you were trying to solve. How much it needs to be solved, I do not know, and certainly Googling "how to dimple a tie" did nothing to explain a pressing need for the product. Your precedents are weak, too. Collar stays are not used as a substitute for ironing collars, nor are belts merely a substitute for tighter waistbands.

  • I'm a girl and I start high school tomorrow and I have to wear a tie :(

  • You guys got any suggestions for tie pattern / width for an Atlantic knot?

  • @TehSaccade The general rule I would apply here is that the Atlantic knot is a pretty busy knot in terms of construction, so it might be better to have solid colors. As for width, a wider tie would be better than a thinner one.

  • @ModernButlers: Nice, thanks - I've been spending ages trying to find a pattern that will appear regular when tied, but to no avail... Best so far is a standard check or stripes high from the left.

Probably best to stick with solid colours, yr right.

    Cheers for the reply matey!

  • dam this is hard

  • the first way is the way i do it lol

  • thanks man never tied a tie before and i got it on the frist try thanks alot

  • my playa status went up points because of this. thanks!

  • you need to talk louder its very hard to hear.

  • any one know what kind of knot James Bond tied in Quantum of Solace? it almost looks like a diamond knot, how is that tied? Any help would be appreciated.

  • awesome... i didn't know there were different many ways to tie a tie. I thought there was only one way. I do it differently and don't do it like any of the ways shown in this video though.

  • i tied a tie then being a smart ass i un did it and can't do it agen. evil

  • yah his first 2 sucks. unfortunately youtube cant afford to pay a pro business man from Wall street to demonstrate a a nice tie. oh well...this will do

  • Wow, the best video

  • I think it's funny that most people who watch this are men. I always thought men purposely never learn to do ties so that they could find some lovely girl to do it for them. Conversely, I had the impression girls learn to do ties so they can find some clueless boy and rescue him... eventually leading to one of those cheesy romance moments where it's love at first sight and you both live happily ever after the end. guess I was wrong

  • great video

your instructions were simple and helpful

  • No matter how many videos like this I show to Andy, the star in my videos, he never seems to learn. In episode 37 he attempts to tie a tie himself. In that, you can see what happens if you don't bother learning.

  • hahaha mine dont end up looking that good.....ahhhh so frustrating hahah

  • Thanks man, you saved me lol

  • I like your voice..

  • cheers man. i would have been stuffed without this vid.

  • this vid saved my life, thanx man!!

  • you shouldn't do it in a black tie. makes it hard to see what's-what

  • I do not like a dimple, i always have it conical and even.

  • thanx man
