multiple targets: use macro'd swipe + maul, tab between targets making sure maul's debuff is up on all targets, demo roar at some point, mangle or even lacerate, if a dps is gaining on threat on any target you tab between, keep faery fire and taunt ready incase threat is lost, which shouldnt happen
single: faery fire for instant threat, have maul + mangle macro ready, stack 5 lacerates while you spam maul and mangle on every cooldown, keep lacerate up

@limahl123123 the answer depends on what classes are pulling off of you. if its ret palys that have vindication, the debuff they apply will reduces AP alot more than Demo Roar and they hit pretty hard. Nothing you can do about this except to let them know they are fail for having that talent. If its mages pulling from AOEs then maybe you need glyph of maul. I cant groups well with my raid spec. Just tab thru and hit them all individually.

@limahl123123 i dont know how you will wear plate but you want leather that has more stam than agi. If it has more stam than agi it will usualy have these secondary stats: Haste, Expertise, Hit and Dodge. If the gear has any of these on it then its tank gear. But since Improved leader of the pack heals for % of total hp u want gear with most stam possible. Gem for stam only. Use one dodge+stam gem to get meta gem bonus. Also get Pvp enchant for helm and shoulders that has stam and resilience
personally if it's with multiple targets you have trouble with, i recommend macro-ing maul and swipe together, and use that button as you tab between the multiple targets, make sure you know which target the DPS will be burning down, which is usually the casters, make sure you have glyph of maul too
that seems to work fine for me, but i'm level 72, so it might change at 80 xD
Dude just enter with swipe, While you press swipe keep maul up and keep doing the same thing if you lose aggro use growl or feral fearie.. You can use lacerate on trash but you just wasting rage. I use lacerate + mangle on bosses so dps can do more dps without tanking my aggro out
@TheMinigiant mangle increases the dmg of maul and lacerate so it should be first. it also has the longest CD. u dont want to put yur CD spells at the end. Do u think ret palys put divine storm at the end of there rotation ? indeed, that would be moronic.

Amazing guide. very helpfull. I have been using a /castsequence macro for that imp mangle, and I generate about 11k tps, but that is not basing it off that 1 second trap GCD. I am now using the Non Improved mangle rotation, only thing I change is I start out with a FFF at range, Charge in, And then start the rotation using mangle, Lacerate, lacerate, Swipe, mangle, FFF, lacerate lacerate lacerate, Mangle, FFF. All of that is bound with a Maul ofcourse. it is not generateing 15k tps in ICC25
My main is a druid and although I find this guide complete, it is in my opinion overly complicated. You can do your tanking duty without coodinating abilities down to the second.

@Chrillelundgren Yes, that is true for all tanks, but bears in particular. As a bear you share alot of armor with rogues/kitty druids that has arm pen and ap on it, both of which are key aggro stats. The biggest threat boost, however, is always a better weapon. I noticed a significant damage/threat boost when I upgraded my level 200 Staff of trickery from VH heroic to a level 251 Staff of Glacial Rot from festergut in 10 man.
welli got a lvl 72 druid and have lvled him from 27-72 in like 4 days prob my fastest record personaly , the rotation seems to b pretty well for aoeing just spam swipe imo but im going to try an acual rotation even tho it seems its not nessesary atm for just normal dungeons
@calibor11 dont just spam swipe always have maul up when pullin groups and have farie fire on ur current target also have the glyph of maul that lets u hit 2 targets wih maul.
maul does not have exactly the same mechanics as heroic strike for warrior tanking, yes you do lose your rage gained from white damage but keep in mind you will gain 5 rage if it crits, and seeing as how your crit chance should be massive compared to other tanks its fairly reliable that you will crit with maul
therefore it can be somewhat compared to heroic strike but it is still MUCH more efficient with your rage in comparison
Right now I am working on getting better at tanking in bear form. I'm getting closer to getting the gear I need. My main problem is I can't hold aggro. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that someone in my group has more threat than me or are able to pull them off me. I found this video helpful and I'm going to continue practicing to bear tank. Demo roar should not be the first thing you apply unless you actually have a good shot at dying off the bat. If thats the case, you probably shouldn't be tanking that boss, because you're undergeared. Do the high threat first, and once everything is up, roar.
@hudders123 If your healers are that worried about ~500 melee damage, then they probably shouldn't be healing that encounter. Look, it's fine to have up. It's less important than Lacerate x5, Mangle or Faerie Fire.
@MetalHairRuler becauseinfected wounds slows down enemy attack speed by 20% it is a useful tool in increasing your survivability so i think it is worth it
ive been wondering about Infected Wounds... is it viable in today's content? Does the 20% extra time between your enemy's swing actually make a difference? Was thinking about switching 3 points from Improved mangle to Infected Wounds. But idk
Maul is a threat dump, really only meant to pick up your aggro on top of that when you begin to spam maul you will begin to lose more rage than you are gaining back and going thru all your other rotations you dnt have time to hit maul
If you want a tip, never pull with growl. Ever. Always use FF and you've then got your growl off CD if a mob runs for someone in your group. Just something I find handy when I tank. ^_~

im not an expert but my main is a 74 druid, when i tank i use feirie fire (feral) ALOT, also i rotate through each mob and apply one lacerate. it works for me. but there's always gonna be aggro whores out their... like mages.
@gmlgm Do like a Warrior tank does. I always tell people to hold off on DPS till I have 3 "Sunder Armor (Devastate)" up, This is a rotate for me of Devastate/Revenge/Shild Slam. So for you I would tell them to wait till you have 3 Lacerate up. This gives you time to get a high threat.

I think its a mod called "statbreaker" or so, shows pure stats converted into % etc, have it myself, quite handy for seeing the actual benefit you get for a possible upgrade
I see a lot of comments saying they want a paladin tank.
All you paladins out there, do you truly think you need one? Our rotation is the easiest out there and you damn well know it. We have 0 threat problems, 0 damage problems, and 0 utility problems.
In my experience, druids and paladins make the best tanks. Druids can REALLY soak up the damage, (60k HP raid buffed anyone?) contribute a good amount of damage, and as a consequence have great threat. Paladins in general have great mitigation, awesome AoE threat, Ardent Defender (aka soulstone 2.0), a multitude of buffs, and a few "oh sh@%" buttons.
I tank totc 25 in bear form, there is no use or no reason why any feral tank cant hold aggro.. Faerie fire, laceratex5 while mauling, mangle, swipe swipe swipe = win.

I'm sorry, but I'm NOT taking advice from a Bear Tank that DOESN'T use Barkskin every 1min. Again 1min CD and reduces ALL dmg takin by 20% for 12sec. Totally worth it.Sorry, again, but I never lose threat by ONLY Faerie Fire, Charge, Swipe/Maul spam, Glyph of Maul hits 2 targets too. And IF I lose aggro, just Growl. If you're in a Raid and Rogues aren't using TotT, they fail, same for any class, that it's available to, not using Aggro reducing abilities, but IMO they shouldn't have to either

Right now I am working on getting better at tanking in bear form. I'm getting closer to getting the gear I need. My main problem is I can't hold aggro. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that someone in my group has more threat than me or are able to pull them off me. I found this video helpful and I'm going to continue practicing to bear tank. Thank you!

Demo roar should not be the first thing you apply unless you actually have a good shot at dying off the bat. If thats the case, you probably shouldn't be tanking that boss, because you're undergeared. Do the high threat first, and once everything is up, roar.

@hudders123 If your healers are that worried about ~500 melee damage, then they probably shouldn't be healing that encounter. Look, it's fine to have up. It's less important than Lacerate x5, Mangle or Faerie Fire.

@ARKTNA No he means the threat is multiplied by 1.5, so that's like 50% extra threat over a normal attack.

@MetalHairRuler becauseinfected wounds slows down enemy attack speed by 20% it is a useful tool in increasing your survivability so i think it is worth it

ive been wondering about Infected Wounds... is it viable in today's content? Does the 20% extra time between your enemy's swing actually make a difference? Was thinking about switching 3 points from Improved mangle to Infected Wounds. But idk

Maul is a threat dump, really only meant to pick up your aggro on top of that when you begin to spam maul you will begin to lose more rage than you are gaining back and going thru all your other rotations you dnt have time to hit maul

Are you deaf? Maul is like heroic strike, you queue it with other abilities to generate more threat per special ability used.

He's not using it because he'd run out of rage on a test dummy, he's still telling u to use it as much as possible on a boss

If you want a tip, never pull with growl. Ever. Always use FF and you've then got your growl off CD if a mob runs for someone in your group. Just something I find handy when I tank. ^_~

im not an expert but my main is a 74 druid, when i tank i use feirie fire (feral) ALOT, also i rotate through each mob and apply one lacerate. it works for me. but there's always gonna be aggro whores out their... like mages.

@gmlgm Do like a Warrior tank does. I always tell people to hold off on DPS till I have 3 "Sunder Armor (Devastate)" up, This is a rotate for me of Devastate/Revenge/Shild Slam. So for you I would tell them to wait till you have 3 Lacerate up. This gives you time to get a high threat.

Dps should let you gain initial threat and rage. It happens unfortunatly :( Most dps nuke as soon as you pull which sucks for warriors and bears

hey im going feral tank and im already an epic healerso im just going around in groups saying "im only taking feral tank gear, and if u dont let me then u can look for another healer who can actually not fail and can down the confessor for the next half hour :) "

Ive found mongoose to be an absolute waiste as druid...it procsnowhere near as often as a class that swings a weapon...ur better of using a straight base stat enchant

I think its a mod called "statbreaker" or so, shows pure stats converted into % etc, have it myself, quite handy for seeing the actual benefit you get for a possible upgrade

I see a lot of comments saying they want a paladin tank.
All you paladins out there, do you truly think you need one? Our rotation is the easiest out there and you damn well know it. We have 0 threat problems, 0 damage problems, and 0 utility problems.

In my experience, druids and paladins make the best tanks. Druids can REALLY soak up the damage, (60k HP raid buffed anyone?) contribute a good amount of damage, and as a consequence have great threat. Paladins in general have great mitigation, awesome AoE threat, Ardent Defender (aka soulstone 2.0), a multitude of buffs, and a few "oh sh@%" buttons.

I tank totc 25 in bear form, there is no use or no reason why any feral tank cant hold aggro.. Faerie fire, laceratex5 while mauling, mangle, swipe swipe swipe = win.

I don't recall him ever saying not to use maul. In fact he said you will pretty much always want to have maul up.
I'll add to this though there are some bosses in Uld that you dont want to maul everytime as you cant build up rage fast enough.

I'm sorry, but I'm NOT taking advice from a Bear Tank that DOESN'T use Barkskin every 1min. Again 1min CD and reduces ALL dmg takin by 20% for 12sec. Totally worth it.Sorry, again, but I never lose threat by ONLY Faerie Fire, Charge, Swipe/Maul spam, Glyph of Maul hits 2 targets too. And IF I lose aggro, just Growl. If you're in a Raid and Rogues aren't using TotT, they fail, same for any class, that it's available to, not using Aggro reducing abilities, but IMO they shouldn't have to either
