#8 : You need to have Sony Vegas 9 to have .avi files work, or whatever. I downloaded a free trial for it a long time ago, & it worked with .avi files perfectly fine. Any earlier versions won't work.

The .avi thing:

It's a codec mistake. You need to download a program where you can see if you have the right codecs. sometimes you just cant use them, even if you have the right codec. other times it "turns black" if you have sony vegas open in a long time. then you just need to save and open sv again.
