OMG! Saw him in the 70s as a support act for Elton John - had never heard of him before that - but fell in love with this song :) thank you for sharing :)
Ted Neely was the singer/actor who played Christ in the movie. Murray Head was in the original London stage production in 1970 or 71 playing either Christ or Judas (I can't remember which).
I get a lump in my throat whenever I listen to this song and only if it's Murray Head singing. It takes me back and brings with it a flood of emotions ..... either good, bad or indifferent.
Murray Head ..... an amazing voice. It doesn't get much better than this.
What a joy to find this. I have adored this song since the first time I heard it 32 years ago and well, I only wish I had been there to see this performance. It still has teh power to give me goosebumps! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING. AN ABSOLUTE JOY.
wow. what a treat. this takes me way back. so cool to see murray's song struck a deep chord in alot of people's hearts. used to watch my friend play this on his guitar.
Today is Murray Head day!!!! I'm happy to find this song after 28 years. The last search was 2006 and the only results were " Weezer". Murray Head created a hymne, one of the best poetic songs of the world. Love it, forever, i think this is the best song for my funeral. I ever thougt the song starts with the part in the middle at 1:47, that was what i heard the first time in 1982. Absolutly genious. . .
What a performnace. It's a lovely video. thank you very much for such a delightful piece. I agree that it is a very underestimated artist or perhaprs underrated sounds much better
