  • i urgently need the hi-res video of this file. can u plz help me out??

  • The oldest horse breed worldwide "still being bred" is the Arabian.

And to the contrary of several comments saying the Lippizan is the oldest breed of Europe; the kladruber didn't die out yet. He's still being bred in Czech. ;)

  • My God, Stacy Keach is still alive?!

  • The Lippizaner is the oldest breed in EUROPE, not the oldest breed in the middle east.....

  • the oldest breed of horse still being bred is, contrary to this video, is the arabian horse.

  • I find it odd that they say it's the oldest breed, maybe he meant in that part of the world, but still... (nice video anyway!)

  • quell belle allure, quel fier animal épris de liberté et grands espaces

  • que espectacular video y la musica genial clasica

  • Is this tv show out on dvd to buy? Do you know where I could buy it?

  • @qwertyuiop1553 I found this on DVD in the Spanish Riding School of Vienna but I do not know where else you could find it... The movie is about 41 minutes and you'll love it!

  • Just a little tid bit, the horse at the end of this clip is Siglavy Mantua. I had the wonderful chance to see him and the rest of these beautiful horses in 2005 when they came to the United States for a tour. I highlight this performance that I saw as the beginning of my transition from jumping to dressage. Absolutely beautiful!!!!

  • this breed fascinates me, gorgeous in so many ways ;*

  • arabs gave spain the horse

  • Yes they did. Arabs gave us just about,if not, all the breeds we have today.

  • @mickeybleu2 then how come the Japanese have had horses for centuries before any foreigners arrived?

  • @k4n31985 That's why I said most.

  • i used to ride a Lipizzaner. She was great and you could totally feel all that power flushing through her body

  • where did u get the first vid i love it!

  • Lipizzaners are the oldest european breed, coming from a mix of italian and spanish horses.

  • a friend of my mums brought a Lipizzaner stallion from that place and he now trains it and has it up for stud and has had a stunning filly that looks just like him which is why I've always love Lipizzaner's

  • The lipizzaner descends of the Spanish horse

  • It makes me want to go!!!!!!!!

  • you need to go .... nothing impresses me any more and I was head over heels .... between the morning practices and then teh show and the visit of the stables ....

  • The Spanish Riding School made trips to the USA in 2005 in commemmoration of their rescue by General Patton, and 2008 sponsored by 'The Royal Lipizzan Stallion Show', teh American group that performs regularly but can't even compare in their level of development! I was fortunate to see the SRS in Columbus in '05, and even more blesses to own an aged Lipizzan mare (703 Almadina) whose sire was presented by the SRS /Austrian govt. to President Reagan in '82. She is an absolute blast to ride!!

  • it is amazing to see them perform in Vienna, and the museum is pretty cool to, you get to see inside the stables, sooo neat !!

p.s the arabian is not the oldest living breed of horse, but is very close to and the most recognised, the oldest breed is the Przewalski's horse from which the Arabian is descended.

  • No the Przewalski's horse is not even the same species, they have a defferent chromosome count than Equus Caballus which includes all the domesticated breeds.

  • i wish lips had more talent for competitive dressage....they are truley magnificent horses

  • The oldest breed is the Arabian - by far. And no doubt the Lipizzaner has Arabian blood as do most light horse breeds.

  • Lipizzaners are the oldest breed that has been continuously bred in Europe. It does contain blood from the Arab and other breeds, including Spanish (Iberian) horses. The Andalusian that we see today are not the same as the Andalusians that the Lipizzaner was descended from.

The Lipizzaners are amazing! I feel so privileged to be able to own such a wonderful horse! They are highly intelligent and very perceptive.

  • To say that the Lipizzaner is a light horse breed, has never gotten up close to one. They are far from light (except in colour), For the most part they are between 14 2 to 16 hands, but they are big boned, with a wide back and a big powerful hind end. Just try to find a saddle that will fit them and you will soon discover that they are anything but "light".

  • Very interesting! Thank you for the information.

  • how cool good video

  • I've been to Vienna and was outside the Riding School, but didn't go inside or anything. They're great horses--I've seen them perform in other places.

  • My Ultimate Dream....To visit Vienna and the most beautiful Lippizana Horse....a dream from my childhood....and my name sake on here....

    ♥♥♥

  • For Aurasmum,

I hope your dream comes true for you. The Spanish Riding School in Vienna is nothing short of glorious! There is also a Lippizaner Museum not far from the Hofburg (home of the Lippizaners) and it contains many artifacts, etc. Alas, the museum wasn't in existance when I visited Vienna in 1977...but seeing the famed Lippizaners perform was truly magical!

  • Thank you SO much for your words to me erzbet07...they have really spur me on to make this dream of mine really come true...I have seen these ultimate beautiful horses (in my eyes) in the UK....but I just LONG to go to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna....Heaven!!!

much love to you for responding to me, I SO appreciate this.....xxxx

  • the museum doesn't exist anymore, they closed it due to money problems. they had big problems recentyl but ar going back up the hill thanks to a woman :-)

  • lipizzans are awsome but arabians came first!

  • True, but Mustangs came before even the Arabian

  • Mustangs did NOT

    liar *rolls eyes*

  • ARABLOVER , who cares , be quiet and watch the video

  • Arabs were the first - fact. Mustangs weren't in existence until Columbus boated horses over from Europe.

I have no idea why the Narrator says that Lipizzaners were first. Soo not true - they came from the Andalusian.

  • I love this film! I just watched it recently and it never gets old.

  • oh ein wiener lipizaner :)

  • i hav got the full dvd

    it is awesome

  • aw man i want on...

  • i rode one on a riding holiday they are really strong!!!!!

  • One thing, those Lipizzans seem to have an incredibly great gallop for dressage horses...

  • Is is possible to aquire a copy of the full-length feature?

  • i went to see them. they were totally awsome!

  • Nice!
