This commercial is so true! I am a democrat born ad raised, but my party has gone to hell the last 20 or so years and was startin to even before that. The dems talk about a party of inclusion, but it seems that they no longer welcome conservatives. I will be support whoever wins the gop nomination to insure obama does not get back in the white ouse
I like how these ads can only point out how much the other side failed. This isn't pro-republican, it's just anti-Obama. Just because the other guy sucks, doesn't mean you can do any better.
Obama can't do anything about student debt. It would take too radical of action, and nothing radical will ever go through Congress (unless it's radically stupid). I don't see Republicans doing anything about it either. We must grow the economy by that rate of interest on our loans, because it requires college students to regularly make more money than we've spent. Yet from NCES, grads have had the same average yearly income for the last twenty years. We're doomed as a country if we keep this up.
@tejaspics why is it that dems always try to talk about which party cares about you....NEWSFLASH!! THEY'RE POLITICIANS AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES!! DOESN'T MATTER WHICH PARTY!! If you're looking for someone to care about you, go to church!!
The thing that stands out most about Republicans is their complete lack of shame. This country is nearly destroyed under Bush, and back they come as if they did nothing wrong. Stunning!
Obama, Bush Reagan etc none of them have a whole lot of unilateral power...democrats vs republicans the material difference between the two is minimal...you want change?
Flat tax for individuals and corporations 15 or 20%our very limited deductions no loop holes
Term Limits for congress just like we have for the president
campaign reform limit how much can be spent on reelection cant keep the surplus funds
no special retirement or medical for congress if they pass a law they should live it
It's amazing how quick the Uninformed are to pull out Unrelated numbers and try to apply them.
Debt, Deficit, Total Debt Liability - learn the differences before you assume a quote is valid.
Obama has added more Debt than any president in history, and more budget Deficit than All previous administrations Combined - accounting for nearly 20% of the Total liability.
It's nice to see some young people that know what's going on. Most have their heads up their asses and are more concerned about reaching general in black ops than where this once great nation is headed.
Anyone who thinks debt is the problem is a dupe. The reason the debt has skyrocketed has mostly to do with decreased receipts from the Bush recession and the Bush tax cuts. 2 unfunded wars and Medicare part D also added significantly to the debt.
The problem is our economy has been set up by Republican policy to concentrate wealth for a few while cutting wages and jobs for the rest. The deficit is a symptom of a poor economy not a cause. But the billionaires have brainwashed you.
@muirgeo Are you fist fucking me? How do you figure Republican policies are concentrating on cutting jobs? hahahaha you are retarded brah. Free market determines jobs. The welfare state belongs to the dems, not the republicans first off. 2nd, the government rules and regulations on...well...FUCKING EVERYTHING of course is going to force businesses to do more with less. Dude, it's business people don't get to that "billionaire" state by being stupid.
@muirgeo You increase the cost for a business, and it will cut spending in other areas in order to stay alive. Even if that means jobs. Now who do you think is in charge of the rules and regulations? That's right the liberals i.e. democratic, and to some extent republicans have had their hand in it too. Liberals want more government control, which is hindering our economy. You need to understand your government before you say it's "republican's fault" buddy.
@muirgeo I think it's you who have been brain washed, by your liberal media garbage. Also I just want to state, "fox news" and other conservative types of media are not where I get my information. I actually studied both sides back in high school, found out what both are about and why they believe what they believe. I chose the conservative side because it makes common sense, liberal views make good fairy tale sense. You have your facts 180 degrees backwards man.
i dont know why u liberals always say we have to invest in the economy its like hello are u brain dead real soon there wont be a economy or jobs when we go bankrupt, there scurry around the debt like its not part of the economy
@corydelong On whose watch did the economy collapse? How has the stock market performed since Obama became president? Did you know that the stock market historically has performed about 8 times better under Democratic presidents than Republicans presidents. Google it. The propaganda that Republicans are better for the economy is nothing more than a myth. Great depressions occur on the watch of Republican presidents (think Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush). Democrats clean jup their mess.
@ls1959 How about Reagan to Jimmy Carter? We were damn near in another great depression and it took a conservative to clean up his mess. Less government, tax breaks for all, which created millions of jobs, who were all paying taxes, therefore paying in MORE than if we had just taxed the piss out of the rich. You liberals live in a fairy tale world where you think the rich should pay for everything. Remember, 480 billion/year welfare state belongs to your side, not ours :P
@brent85bmw Reagan tripled the national debt, deregulated the financial industry, made us dependent on foreign oil, gave carte blanche to big business to export our jobs to China. In short Reagan was a disaster as a president and we are only now facing all the consequences of his presidency.
@ls1959 According to your post Reagan must have been an amazing man. He had a dem senate, a dem house, and yet he managed to do all this by himself. What a man!! WAKE UP!!!
@KnightTemplar1000 Are you telling me that the tax cuts, big defense build-up and deregulation were all Democratic ideas? You can't have it both ways. If you want to put Reagan on a pedastal for the great economy of the 80s, then you also have to make him responsible for the tripling of the national debt and all the policies that led to today's economic disaster.
@ls1959---The tax cuts gave us the good economy. The defense build-up gave us the end of the USSR. The dems gave us the real big spending and defense isn't it. Check the annual budgets, the dems precious entitlements (vote buying) are the real problem. Defense is a Constitutional responsibility of the Federal government. HHS, HUD, Education, SSA, et. al. are expensive unconstitutional gimmicks given to us by aggressive misguided dems and weak, wimpy repubs.Obama is the debt expansion champ.
@KnightTemplar1000 The tax cuts gave us the good economy? You mean like George W. Bush's economic depression? Tea Partiers and Republicans obsess today about the national debt. But if you look at any chart of presidents and national debt, the reality is most of today's national debt occurred under Republican presidents. Clinton was the only president to produce a surplus. Remember, it was Dick Cheney who said "Reagan showed deficits don't matter. It's been the mantra of the GOP for years.
@ls1959 ---- It has been admitted by the CBO that Clinton's surplus was a lie. Man are you blind. As Reagan would say "It's not that liberals don't know anything, it's just that so much of what they know isn't so. Goodbye
The public debt is the one that is at all important. The reason people say there was no surplus was because of an increase in intragovernmental debt, basically debt that is owed to the government by the government.
If only Reagan were still around! He would reduce the size of our government and eliminate the deficit. Why punish the wealth creators when 1/2 of Americans don't pay any taxes? Obummer is out to drive this country off a cliff.
@realamerican911 Reagan grew government by leaps and bounds. The national debt tripled from $800 billion to over $2.3 billion by the end of Reagan's second term. Reagan began the deregulation mania which led to the Savings and Loan crisis and more recently the financial crisis of 2008. Reagan's foreign policy was a precursor to the disastrous neocon foreign policy of W. Bush. Put it all together and Reagan, more than any other president, is the reason the U.S. is going downhill.
@realamerican911 1st off reagans dead & he took the debt from 900 billion to 3.2 trillion, increased the size of gov & the millitary, also ford a republitard started the income tax credit in 1975 to lower taxes on lower income people, so if u want to blame someone for them not paying taxes blame the ones who started it the republicans, & bush retard jr is the one who created this mess by cutting taxes without paying for them as in cutting gov spending & 2 wars, unpaid prescription program, idiot
No doubt Bush is a really swell guy and I'll never forget all the contributions he gave to middle, poor and homeless. Hey if FOX News can fake it why can't I. But let keep this real,.. did the greatest economic downturn since the great depression not happen under GW Bush's watch?!?
@YUPchannel The housing bubble popped while Bush was in office, but it started before his presidency. Greenspan warned the Congress for years about the housing bubble, and Bush asked Congress to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on several different occasions. Those organization, as you well know, forced banks and other lending organizations to make bad loans to unqualified borrowers. To lessen their risks they banks bundled the loans and sold them to others. When the loans went bad it cascaded.
Just as long as you all understand. It's Bush's fault.... along with global warming (TM), not closing gitmo, increasing the troops in Afghanistan, involving the US in Libya, BP Oil spill, your sister getting knocked up..... it's all Bush's fault.
@bonkabonk get real = find a business leader, listen to them for at least a year before opening your mouth, and then if your lucky you might have enough money to by a car cash instead of financing your future on debt from money that hasn't been printed yet... never mind just start printing your money off the printer at your house it will be worth about the same in five years Obama/ BurnOurMoneyki fed and government unholy pairing continues.
@Faithaverb - I do my own writing IOW Political Charade is mine.. and attribute my sources - see previous posts. and the one just posted on 1% was derived from article By Stephen Moore
the top 1% of earners in the US pay 37% of the income taxes; the top 5% pay 51% of all of the US income taxes collected. So Stop The BS from the tax the rich and get out of debt crowd! If 100% of the top 5% earners was taxed at 100% it would not solve the problem! THE US GOVERNMENT NEEDS STOP SPENDING OTHER PEOPLES MONEY! PAY DOWN THE DEBT AND GO HOME!
@MauiLizardMan The richest 400 Americans paid an effective tax rate of 17 percent. Corporations pay about 1 percent of the total Federal income tax compared to around 5 percent back in the 1950s. Yes spending needs to be reined in. But when tax revenues as a percentage of national income are the lowest they've been since 1950, we also have a revenue problem. Don't believe the myths you hear on talk radio and Fox News. It is all biased propaganda helping their friends in the ivory towers.
@ls1959 Revenue is low because economic activity that gets taxed is low. Economic activity is low because people who invest and create jobs don't know what the fuck commander numbnuts is liable to do next. Raising taxes will only further kill economic activity. If you were a producer instead of a taker you would have some basic understanding of this. At some point you will run out of people to live off of.
@Huboons In part revenue is low because of economic activity. But revenue is also low because taxes have been cut and cut again. Added to the cut in taxes is all the deductions and loopholes, especially for large corporations. GE paid zero tax after making $14 billion last year. Basically the rich and large corporations own Washington. The Tea Party doesn't realize it. But they are just pawns of the fat cats doing their bidding and the little guy loses.
@DillonDee1 And all you liberals are tools for the liberals who want to get you to believe the super rich are the bad guys and they some how owe you when you have done nothing to earn it from them :) Remember, higher taxes and stricter regulations=businesses move out of the country, not because they are "evil" but because it doesn't make good business sense to stay in a country where profit is almost impossible to achieve :D Think about that one before you call us conservatives the tools lol.
@brent85bmw so what your saying is we should work for $2 an hr like in china, lol, & u want our air to look like china's does now, remember the olympic games & the smog, google china 20yrs ago & see how much smog was there then, also when the top 2% own 80% of the wealth leaving 98% to the 20% in crumbs then ya its time to get rid of these robber barons, break up these monopolies with anti trust laws like we used to have until the gop weakened them, so yes u are a tool or a shill.....
@ls1959 "The Tea Party doesn't realize it. But they are just pawns of the fat cats doing their bidding and the little guy loses." See what you actually mean by little guy is looter. Someone who lives off of government transfer of wealth like yourself.
@MauiLizardMan that statement is nothing but bullshit, example, top 400 richest americans pay 16 .2% in fed taxes, the average middle class american pays 22.5% in fed taxes, your just another shill for the elite & corps spewing propaganda & lies, & the 15 thumbs up are either retards or shills like u..........
@MauiLizardMan The top 1 percent earn more than 23 percent of U.S. income.
During the 60s and 70s the top 1% earned only 9% of total income, 11% in the 50s, and 13% in the 40s.
It helps the economy when wealth is more evenly distributed since the poor and middle class actually spend the money they "earn". You can look at any statistic for proof. The U.S.'s most prosperous years were in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s when we had major wealth redistribution.
BTW in the last 113 years the Democrats have had control of the House 72 years (Rep. 41) and the last 8 years has seen only 4 years of Democrats... Two years of which they controlled House, Senate, and Presidency. In those two years they quadrupled the Debt. With full knowledge that the results would be bad. US
Public Policy a site that has info on Social Security funding... a good read. When religion and politics ride in the same cart the ... well you get it
Congress (House of Representatives) appropriates NOT Presidents!
The operative word is political charade - written in 2007 by John T Koraska Tyler
"Total American debt can conservatively estimated at no less than $100 trillion- Defective public policy has created an accounting charade that is impenetrable-bottom line is it is impossible to measure an accurate amount of total debt - being passed on to the next generation of taxpayers. That fact will not forever escape attention -" WAKE UP USA!
Don't know where you are getting your figures Muirgeo but I don't believe they are correct. Though every modern president has added to the debt, None can compare to Obama. And the economy did not go south until the Democrats took congress the last two years of Bush's term and started forcing FannyMae and FreddieMac into giving out bad homeloans. That is when this all started.
Even though I am Republican, I do agree with @muirgeo on the Top Comments. Republican presidents did add the most debt, especially with Reagan and both Bush's. However, we are now at a maximum high and it only keeps getting worse. Our dollar will become useless and their goes our rank in the world. We cannot let this happen! That is why we cannot continue to SPEND our way out of this. We are in a deep hole and we need to stop digging. Obama's Economic Plan: "Would you like fries with that sir?"
@amphib2007 You cannot possibly say that Republican's added "the most debt" when the spending under the current administration (and previous congress) out paced any before it in the first 90 days!
@Faithaverb Apparently, you did not understand what I wrote... So let me be more clear... Republican presidents (overall) have raised the national debt more than Democratic presidents... Look at the chart on Wiki. Last time I checked, the National Debt stood at $10.6 trillion on the day Obama took office... Today, it is near $14.3 trillion... I agree that the previous congress and Obama's administration spent a lot, but please look at the facts and note that $14.3 - $10.6 is $3.7 (trillion).
Whoever made this video should just Google "history of the national debt" and learn the facts. Supply-sides are to blame for where the country is economically and where it is financially. Their theory has been COMPLETELY disproved. Regan and Bush II were "supply-siders" and each contributed to the national debt (as a % of GDP) more than ANY other President. What's worse is that they contributed to the national debt when times were good.
Yea, Obama what is your plan?! I want to know because I have seen the Republicans plan and it goes something like "Give us what we want, when we want it or we'll burn everything to the ground!" The same people that held a gun to the working class and unemployed as ransom if the rich didn't get their tax cuts are the people championing fiscal responsibility?! Reminds me of children who break toys so they don't have to share them with the others, only it's the country they are willing to break.
Amazing the economic illiteracy among so many of your comments!! Debt will destroy America as surely as debt destroys a family. Couple that with the Fed printing money and devaluing the dollar and the perfect storm is now brewing. The College Republicans are right! The rest of you illiterates need to do your homework instead of name calling!! And, by the way, Bush and the progressive Republicans and progressive Democrats are all part of the problem.
This looks like someone borrowed Dad's camcorder and pieced together a clip on a MabBook ... No wonder Republicans are REALLY losing today's youth. HAHA. And these people look absolutely boring/lifeless - a staple for the GOP.
Every time a rich Democrat says we need to raise taxes on the rich to help balance the budget, they should be challenged by the audience. Why don't *they* raise taxes on themselves by giving 10% more to the Feral government?
@TheSugarcube2 google is your friend. I realize you're young, even though I just graduated, but WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN these past 3 or 4 years???? RepubliKKKunts wrecked the country, the economy and then counted on your stupidity to claim they didn't do it. And it worked, since now you're here asking moronic questions...
Given that Obama has added more than $4 trillion to the national debt, can you blame them for using Obama as a scapegoat. Additionally, where is your plan for the national debt. The point of the add is to ask presidential candidates to give details about their plan, not ask everyone college student or American if they have a plan.

@jdhwashmo he added nothing. He invested in Americans. Money going to guns lies now wasted in the Iraqi desert. RepuKKKe money lies in dead Iraqis. Nice and all, but how does that get us jobs??? IT DOESN'T!!
Uneducated kids. I bet most of them have college degrees, which is why they give a shit in the first place. As for where "young people" were when Bush did his thing...um we were in grade school you effing moron. We were more concerned with getting the glue warm for our school project then with George W. Bush and his spending policies. Do you have kids or grandkids who are 11, 12 or 13 years old? How much do they care about the national debt?
PokerJoy88...with a YouTube name like that and the fact that you are commenting on a YouTube video in the middle of the day, obviously means that you have know how the economy works. I just graduated with my masters in business administration and I have an undergraduate degree in economics. You might say I know how the economy works, and when debt gets to high relative to GDP....the economy tanks. These kids are right on to try to press a political solution to government debt. We need on. Badly.
@jdhwashmo yes, and you can do that in three ways. Reduce spending, increase income or both. Obama does both. Repukkkes do a fourth thing. reduce spending on the poor, and decrease income from the rich. under the false presumption that they "will create jobs" which they failed to do in the past 30 years.
I just love how the repuKKKes solution to all this is to take money from the poor (cos ... they have too much already) and give to the rich (cos ... they are such wretches and in dire straits!)
@bonkabonk You're an idiot first off we have spent more in the last TWO years than any president ever and it is OBAMA and his DEMOCRATIC senate that done it how can you people be so blind. Oh and btw cutting taxes across the board creates jobs including cutting taxes for the rich because then they invest the money which creates jobs you retards. Quit wanting life handed to you on a silver fucking platter and get a damn job
@conservatisminhiding yep, you better stay in hiding, or you'll get a hiding!!!! I love it how RepuKKKes claim that the poor live in the lap of luxury, while the rich have it so bad.
"creates jobs" Oh, you mean IN CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@bonkabonk You're an idiot first off we have spent more in the last TWO years than any president ever and it is OBAMA and his DEMOCRATIC senate that done it how can you people be so blind. Quit wanting life handed to you on a silver fucking platter and get a damn job.
@KuntInhiding Also, ask yourself WHY is it that Obama had to spend that money at all? Is it cause "he is just an evil Nazi-commie-socialist Kenyan who's hell bent on tax-&-spend"???
I bet you think it is.
Or ... is it because your Fearless non-Leader D0Bya wasted TEN BILLION dollars on two wars he LOST!
Bush LIED, AMERICAN troops DIED!!!
you people WRECKED OUR economy, take full responsibility for that!!! We've had 30 years of this crap, but of course you wanna LYNCH the black guy who fixes it
Why can't young people ask what a presidential candidate's plan is for that national debt while receiving financial aid to go to college? Just because you take a loan out from the federal government (which you have to pay back) precludes a young person from even asking the one question that most affects their future? Quit silencing the next generation!
That's just not true. 85% of the current debt has not come from Republican presidents. Setting aside whether you can even accurately attribute a particular dollar of debt to anyone, President Obama, a Democratic president, has increased the national debt by more than $4trillion. The current national debt is $14 trillion. Divide 4 into 14 and you get roughly 28 percent, which is far greater than the 15 percent "muirgeo" says is the fault of Democrat presidents.
College ? Republicans ? Thats an oxymoron ! Besides look how those big numbers confused them, To the Youngmen , Get your McDonalds app and get to work, To the Gals, Kick your shoes off and get prego you're just a woman and don't really matter anyhow ! Am I wrong ? Then why do you let men decided for you what you can do with your bodies ?
Sorry boys and girls, it was you Uncle Cheney that said, "Deficits don't matter." If you guys weren't worried when the mess was made, it's really hard for you to sound genuine about cleaning it up now.
Where were these uneducated kids' rage when Bush cut taxes for millionaires, increased entitlements to seniors with drug benefits and threw us into two wars... all without paying for a single dime of it?
@brianphuffman yep. Republicunts are damn freeloaders, their Red States leech on our Blue states, they NEVER pay their way, and then claim loudly they did. Let's not fall for their act this time.
@wayfarin Yaaaaaaaaah rrrright. They aren't talking seriously about reducing the debt, because they wanna absolve millionaires from paying taxes!!! Who made them gods, that they don't have to pay taxes like normal people do. And the poor DO pay taxes, it's in everything they buy. The poor pay, by not having decent roads, schools and teachers. So don't speak to me about the poor that don't pay taxes.
What have the rich and big corp ever done for us? Create jobs?? Yaaah... in FUCKING CHINA!!!
@snkbyt simple debt was 900 billion when reagan took office, when he left 3. 3 trillion, bush sr took it to 5.5 trillion, clinton when he left debt was 5.5 trillion thats 0 debt increase, now for bush retard jr, when he left office 10.4 trillion not counting his tax cuts for 09-10 plus his 2 wars still going, so basically everything obama has spent is bush retard jr & the gop's debt, so i would have to say 99% of the debt is the republitards, & i hope u try to dispute these numbers, lol......
@muirgeo This would be a valid comment... if the president was the person most responsible for the budget. You might review the process. Actually, no, it still wouldn't be valid because most of the deficit spending comes from increased legislation that is driving business from the US -- You're welcome, Hong Kong/Singapore.
@muirgeo Yeah, what 0bama is doing is actually really working great! Unemployment is down, gas prices are down, inflation isn't a threat at all. The general mood in the country is positive and upbeat. It's all good!
@muirgeo .... What do you know, another asinine liberal spewing misinformation. Muirgeo, you certainly don't know your FACTS, do you? Here, I'll give you a REAL FACT: Obama has increased the dept more than ALL OTHER PAST PRESIDENTS COMBINED!! "That" is a FACT!! So, please do yourself a favor, stop getting your talking points from MSNBC, and do your own research before posting idiotic statements!
@BHOsux no your wrong, bush retard jr's debt including his wars, tax cuts, presciption drug program, retuning soldiers who are injured is going to add to the debt, from when he came into office the debt was 5.4 trillion & now its 14 trillion & counting, it amazes me how u try to blame the dem & obama for your republitards fuck ups, this all stems from deregulation that the bush adminstration pushed through leading us to the meltdown, fox talking points arent good here either son.....
@BHOsux The top 1 percent earn more than 23 percent of U.S. income.
During the 60s and 70s the top 1% earned only 9% of total income, 11% in the 50s, and 13% in the 40s.

Maybe you should look at an obscure politician called George W. Bush, you've probably never heard of him. He was the republican president that turned unprecedented budget surpluses under Clinton into unprecedented deficit spending by starting three wars, two on countries and the third on the idea of stateless violence. Maybe we should do what Obama is doing and pull out of the wars. Obama has already withdrawn all combat troops from Iraq... More to follow
Actually, this is completely false. The day that Bush left office the national debt was $10.6 trillion, and that is not including the $1.4 trillion deficit that Bush's 2009 budget added. Obama added ~$150 billion to that fiscal year. As of now, it is not yet $15 Trillion.
There are plenty of issues that you can raise about Obama's presidency. You don't have to spread lies to bash Obama, just use the things that he actually has done. Maybe you are the one who should do some research.
@muirgeo Well Reagan, Bush Sr. And Bush Jr were the only republican presidents...that debt ball started rolling with the LBJ's (D) Great Society. Reagan was handed a shit economy from Carter (D), took a bit to fix it and yes spent a lot due to an arms race with our biggest enemy at the time Russia which caused Russia to collapse, Bush Sr. had to deal with Saddam. Both Reagan and Bush Sr. had Democratic controlled majorities which both presidents tried to be bipartisan (*continued)
@muirgeo is that right? I'm sure Obama not cutting shitty programs is what's running our debt up. While Republicans are trying to trim the debt down and save the economy,
@muirgeo tried to be bipartisan and actually tried to work with the Democrats on some of their demands for the budget in turn allowing to fund some bills, however the Democrats didnt uphold their end of the bargain and it all falls on Reagan and Bush Sr. Then we have Clinton who didnt have a surplus because reporting Social Sec Trust Fund money doesnt go toward reducing deficit, it is set aside for those who are going to receive. Bush Jr. Had the war and some of his programs werent great.
@muirgeo and last but not least, Obama (D) has spent more than any other president combined. The Stimulus Bill didnt work, Cash for Clunkers didnt work, and we're in so much Debt with China, they wont let us borrow anymore which we shouldnt be doing in the first place, and wants to raise the debt ceiling to spend even more into oblivion. I felt like you needed to hear the truth.
I was a small business owner, for about 2 years and 6 months, of that 1-2 year mark I was dealing with all the govt red tape on applying for a medicare license in which to legally be allowed to bill medicare for my services regarding power mobility products. Thanks to the Liberal congress and the bullshit Obamacare, majority of small businesses and those with overhead closed their doors almost overnight starting January 1st. We didnt fail due to bad business practices, we failed because of govt
@muirgeo You are so clueless. Look at Budget deficits under Bush. Remember congress and the purse string under pelosi from 2006. Wake up. Obama is playing you for a fool. Look at what he does not what he says. Just like The big oil nonsense. He had both houses and gas was cheaper but he kept the oil subsidies. WAKE UP. Now go to bed you have to go to school and you need to put your footie jammies on.
@muirgeo ok, again i have to say, please educate yourself before speaking and making a fool out of yourself, the dems/libs were in control of the HOUSE and SENATE from JANUARY , 2007 THRU JANUARY 2011, thats 4, count them, FOUR years of control, and still have control of the senate so the republicans can't do anything.
take a look at the unemployment rate and gas prices in december 2006, see where they were at, then follow the dems forward, and please don't deny it, its of record.
@muirgeo No, 85% did not come from Republicans. The national debt when Bush entered the White House was $5.7 trillion. When he left it was $10.6 trillion. That was $5 trillion over 8 years. Obama has raised the debt that $3.6 trillion in 2 years! See for yourself on the government website: treasurydirect.gov
@muirgeo Duhhhhh! Presidents don't do this.... Congress does. Take a look at who was in control of congress when this happened. You'll see a different picture... and I'm not in favor of the GOP either... they have their warts as well.
@muirgeo Umm, I think you better recheck your numbers bud. Obama has spent more than every president before him since Ronald Reagan combined. He has projections to spend another 21 Trillion, 21,000,000,000,000 in case you needed to know how many zeros that actually is, through 2010. Don't give me this "it's all the republicans, Obama walks on water" bullshit please kthanx.

Well young Republicans one of Obama's plans is NOT to cut loan programs for college students... as the republicans plan to do... so they can give even more tax breaks to billionaires.
@ajpmathwiz The top 1 percent earn more than 23 percent of U.S. income.

The liberals in this country live by the mantra "Tax The Rich". It is sad to see such ignorance go unchecked. How do these people think we got into this debt in the first place? If we taxed the rich at 100% and confiscated all the wealth of Obama's arbitrarily labeled "rich" class (those making >$250k), we would still need to take $40,000 from every "poor" person in the nation, just to retire national debt at its current level. The answer is not more taxes....the answer is LESS GOVERNMENT.
Debt isn't compassionate. The girl at 28 seconds is right. Instead of spending the money on better public schools, making college more affordable or fixing social security, we have to spend that money on paying interest on the national debt. That $5.5 trillion we'll spend over the next ten years could pay for a lot of useful things. Debt isn't compassionate, so let's get rid of it.
at 28 secs, girl says what i have been saying lately: "debt isn't compassionate." awesome. keep pointing out that with bankrupt federal and state governments, the poor will do very very badly.

Flat tax for individuals and corporations 15 or 20%our very limited deductions no loop holes
Term Limits for congress just like we have for the president
campaign reform limit how much can be spent on reelection cant keep the surplus funds
no special retirement or medical for congress if they pass a law they should live it

But the billionaires have brainwashed you.
muirgeo 10 months ago
@muirgeo Are you fist fucking me? How do you figure Republican policies are concentrating on cutting jobs? hahahaha you are retarded brah. Free market determines jobs. The welfare state belongs to the dems, not the republicans first off. 2nd, the government rules and regulations on...well...FUCKING EVERYTHING of course is going to force businesses to do more with less. Dude, it's business people don't get to that "billionaire" state by being stupid.
brent85bmw 10 months ago
@muirgeo You increase the cost for a business, and it will cut spending in other areas in order to stay alive. Even if that means jobs. Now who do you think is in charge of the rules and regulations? That's right the liberals i.e. democratic, and to some extent republicans have had their hand in it too. Liberals want more government control, which is hindering our economy. You need to understand your government before you say it's "republican's fault" buddy.

Bush). Democrats clean jup their mess.
ls1959 10 months ago
@ls1959 How about Reagan to Jimmy Carter? We were damn near in another great depression and it took a conservative to clean up his mess. Less government, tax breaks for all, which created millions of jobs, who were all paying taxes, therefore paying in MORE than if we had just taxed the piss out of the rich. You liberals live in a fairy tale world where you think the rich should pay for everything. Remember, 480 billion/year welfare state belongs to your side, not ours :P
brent85bmw 10 months ago
@brent85bmw Reagan tripled the national debt, deregulated the financial industry, made us dependent on foreign oil, gave carte blanche to big business to export our jobs to China. In short Reagan was a disaster as a president and we are only now facing all the consequences of his presidency.
ls1959 10 months ago
@ls1959 According to your post Reagan must have been an amazing man. He had a dem senate, a dem house, and yet he managed to do all this by himself. What a man!! WAKE UP!!!
KnightTemplar1000 8 months ago
@KnightTemplar1000 Are you telling me that the tax cuts, big defense build-up and deregulation were all Democratic ideas? You can't have it both ways. If you want to put Reagan on a pedastal for the great economy of the 80s, then you also have to make him responsible for the tripling of the national debt and all the policies that led to today's economic disaster.
ls1959 8 months ago
@ls1959---The tax cuts gave us the good economy. The defense build-up gave us the end of the USSR. The dems gave us the real big spending and defense isn't it. Check the annual budgets, the dems precious entitlements (vote buying) are the real problem. Defense is a Constitutional responsibility of the Federal government. HHS, HUD, Education, SSA, et. al. are expensive unconstitutional gimmicks given to us by aggressive misguided dems and weak, wimpy repubs.Obama is the debt expansion champ.
KnightTemplar1000 8 months ago
@KnightTemplar1000 The tax cuts gave us the good economy? You mean like George W. Bush's economic depression? Tea Partiers and Republicans obsess today about the national debt. But if you look at any chart of presidents and national debt, the reality is most of today's national debt occurred under Republican presidents. Clinton was the only president to produce a surplus. Remember, it was Dick Cheney who said "Reagan showed deficits don't matter. It's been the mantra of the GOP for years.
ls1959 8 months ago
@ls1959 ---- It has been admitted by the CBO that Clinton's surplus was a lie. Man are you blind. As Reagan would say "It's not that liberals don't know anything, it's just that so much of what they know isn't so. Goodbye

DillonDee1 10 months ago
@realamerican911 Reagan grew government by leaps and bounds. The national debt tripled from $800 billion to over $2.3 billion by the end of Reagan's second term. Reagan began the deregulation mania which led to the Savings and Loan crisis and more recently the financial crisis of 2008. Reagan's foreign policy was a precursor to the disastrous neocon foreign policy of W. Bush. Put it all together and Reagan, more than any other president, is the reason the U.S. is going downhill.

MauiLizardMan 10 months ago 27
@MauiLizardMan The richest 400 Americans paid an effective tax rate of 17 percent. Corporations pay about 1 percent of the total Federal income tax compared to around 5 percent back in the 1950s. Yes spending needs to be reined in. But when tax revenues as a percentage of national income are the lowest they've been since 1950, we also have a revenue problem. Don't believe the myths you hear on talk radio and Fox News. It is all biased propaganda helping their friends in the ivory towers.
ls1959 10 months ago 2
@ls1959 Revenue is low because economic activity that gets taxed is low. Economic activity is low because people who invest and create jobs don't know what the fuck commander numbnuts is liable to do next. Raising taxes will only further kill economic activity. If you were a producer instead of a taker you would have some basic understanding of this. At some point you will run out of people to live off of.
Huboons 10 months ago
@Huboons In part revenue is low because of economic activity. But revenue is also low because taxes have been cut and cut again. Added to the cut in taxes is all the deductions and loopholes, especially for large corporations. GE paid zero tax after making $14 billion last year. Basically the rich and large corporations own Washington. The Tea Party doesn't realize it. But they are just pawns of the fat cats doing their bidding and the little guy loses.
ls1959 10 months ago

DillonDee1 10 months ago
@DillonDee1 And all you liberals are tools for the liberals who want to get you to believe the super rich are the bad guys and they some how owe you when you have done nothing to earn it from them :) Remember, higher taxes and stricter regulations=businesses move out of the country, not because they are "evil" but because it doesn't make good business sense to stay in a country where profit is almost impossible to achieve :D Think about that one before you call us conservatives the tools lol.

Faithaverb 10 months ago
Don't know where you are getting your figures Muirgeo but I don't believe they are correct. Though every modern president has added to the debt, None can compare to Obama. And the economy did not go south until the Democrats took congress the last two years of Bush's term and started forcing FannyMae and FreddieMac into giving out bad homeloans. That is when this all started.
RickLWright 10 months ago
Even though I am Republican, I do agree with @muirgeo on the Top Comments. Republican presidents did add the most debt, especially with Reagan and both Bush's. However, we are now at a maximum high and it only keeps getting worse. Our dollar will become useless and their goes our rank in the world. We cannot let this happen! That is why we cannot continue to SPEND our way out of this. We are in a deep hole and we need to stop digging. Obama's Economic Plan: "Would you like fries with that sir?"
amphib2007 10 months ago
@amphib2007 You cannot possibly say that Republican's added "the most debt" when the spending under the current administration (and previous congress) out paced any before it in the first 90 days!
Faithaverb 10 months ago 3

What's worse is that they contributed to the national debt when times were good.
newgent2002 10 months ago

Given that Obama has added more than $4 trillion to the national debt, can you blame them for using Obama as a scapegoat. Additionally, where is your plan for the national debt. jdhwashmo 10 months ago

Why can't young people ask what a presidential candidate's plan is for that national debt while receiving financial aid to go to college? Just because you take a loan out from the federal government (which you have to pay back) precludes a young person from even asking the one question that most affects their future? Quit silencing the next generation!
jdhwashmo 10 months ago
Dont be silly. Republicans dont go to college. They hate books and a quality education.

What a bunch of idiots in this clip.
Bain1998 10 months ago
That's just not true. 85% of the current debt has not come from Republican presidents. Setting aside whether you can even accurately attribute a particular dollar of debt to anyone, President Obama, a Democratic president, has increased the national debt by more than $4trillion. The current national debt is $14 trillion. Divide 4 into 14 and you get roughly 28 percent, which is far greater than the 15 percent "muirgeo" says is the fault of Democrat presidents.
jdhwashmo 10 months ago

I'm assuming none of the students in this video receive federal or state financial aid.
If not, you're all a bunch of ignorant hypocrites...but what can you expect from college "republicans".

Sorry boys and girls, it was you Uncle Cheney that said, "Deficits don't matter." If you guys weren't worried when the mess was made, it's really hard for you to sound genuine about cleaning it up now.

Where were these uneducated kids' rage when Bush cut taxes for millionaires, increased entitlements to seniors with drug benefits and threw us into two wars... all without paying for a single dime of it?
brianphuffman 10 months ago
@brianphuffman yep. Republicunts are damn freeloaders, their Red States leech on our Blue states, they NEVER pay their way, and then claim loudly they did. Let's not fall for their act this time.

I would rather see an ad highlighting what is in there plan. I am tired of them using Obama as a scapegoat.

LOL What do they teach Republicans in college? Apparently the Bush tax cuts and the Bush wars don't take a large chunk of the deficit.

Of the current debt almost 85% of it came under Republican presidents. The last of which left Obama with a heavily damaged economy.
If they focus on debt alone there will be no jobs for you all when you graduate. Except to work at right wing corporate dominated think tanks.
muirgeo 10 months ago 11
@muirgeo
even if your stat is true, only one party is talking seriously about finally trying to reduce the debt. and it isn't obama's.
wayfarin 10 months ago
@wayfarin Yaaaaaaaaah rrrright. They aren't talking seriously about reducing the debt, because they wanna absolve millionaires from paying taxes!!! Who made them gods, that they don't have to pay taxes like normal people do. And the poor DO pay taxes, it's in everything they buy. The poor pay, by not having decent roads, schools and teachers. So don't speak to me about the poor that don't pay taxes.
What have the rich and big corp ever done for us? Create jobs?? Yaaah... in FUCKING CHINA!!!
bonkabonk 10 months ago

the poor don't pay taxes.

@muirgeo It's easy to throw numbers like 85%....PROVE it...I know you can't...your arguement is bogus!!!
snkbyt 10 months ago
@snkbyt simple debt was 900 billion when reagan took office, when he left 3. 3 trillion, bush sr took it to 5.5 trillion, clinton when he left debt was 5.5 trillion thats 0 debt increase, now for bush retard jr, when he left office 10.4 trillion not counting his tax cuts for 09-10 plus his 2 wars still going, so basically everything obama has spent is bush retard jr & the gop's debt, so i would have to say 99% of the debt is the republitards, & i hope u try to dispute these numbers, lol......
jetbtkng 10 months ago
@muirgeo This would be a valid comment... if the president was the person most responsible for the budget. You might review the process.

@muirgeo This would be a valid comment... if the president was the person most responsible for the budget. You might review the process. Actually, no, it still wouldn't be valid because most of the deficit spending comes from increased legislation that is driving business from the US -- You're welcome, Hong Kong/Singapore.
Faithaverb 10 months ago
@muirgeo Yeah, what 0bama is doing is actually really working great! Unemployment is down, gas prices are down, inflation isn't a threat at all. The general mood in the country is positive and upbeat. It's all good!

@muirgeo When are you libs going to stop blaming the past presidents and start taking accountability for your failures, like the obamacare.
TheUnderstoodit 10 months ago 3
@muirgeo .... What do you know, another asinine liberal spewing misinformation. Muirgeo, you certainly don't know your FACTS, do you? Here, I'll give you a REAL FACT: Obama has increased the dept more than ALL OTHER PAST PRESIDENTS COMBINED!! "That" is a FACT!! So, please do yourself a favor, stop getting your talking points from MSNBC, and do your own research before posting idiotic statements!
BHOsux 10 months ago 5
@BHOsux no your wrong, bush retard jr's debt including his wars, tax cuts, presciption drug program, retuning soldiers who are injured is going to add to the debt, from when he came into office the debt was 5.4 trillion & now its 14 trillion & counting, it amazes me how u try to blame the dem & obama for your republitards fuck ups, this all stems from deregulation that the bush adminstration pushed through leading us to the meltdown, fox talking points arent good here either son.....
jetbtkng 10 months ago
@BHOsux The top 1 percent earn more than 23 percent of U.S. income.
During the 60s and 70s the top 1% earned only 9% of total income, 11% in the 50s, and 13% in the 40s.
It helps the economy when wealth is more evenly distributed since the poor and middle class actually spend the money they "earn". You can look at any statistic for proof. The U.S.'s most prosperous years were in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s when we had major wealth redistribution.
PokerJoey888 10 months ago
@BHOsux
More to follow
andyjohnson0113 7 months ago
@BHOsux
Maybe you are the one who should do some research.
akafish77 5 months ago
@muirgeo Well Reagan, Bush Sr. And Bush Jr were the only republican presidents...that debt ball started rolling with the LBJ's (D) Great Society. Reagan was handed a shit economy from Carter (D), took a bit to fix it and yes spent a lot due to an arms race with our biggest enemy at the time Russia which caused Russia to collapse, Bush Sr. had to deal with Saddam. Both Reagan and Bush Sr. had Democratic controlled majorities which both presidents tried to be bipartisan (*continued)
metalmaniac1980s 10 months ago 2
@muirgeo is that right? I'm sure Obama not cutting shitty programs is what's running our debt up. While Republicans are trying to trim the debt down and save the economy,
Duffman1307 10 months ago 4
@muirgeo tried to be bipartisan and actually tried to work with the Democrats on some of their demands for the budget in turn allowing to fund some bills, however the Democrats didnt uphold their end of the bargain and it all falls on Reagan and Bush Sr. Then we have Clinton who didnt have a surplus because reporting Social Sec Trust Fund money doesnt go toward reducing deficit, it is set aside for those who are going to receive. Bush Jr. Had the war and some of his programs werent great.
metalmaniac1980s 10 months ago 2

We didnt fail due to bad business practices, we failed because of govt
metalmaniac1980s 10 months ago 4
@muirgeo You are so clueless. Look at Budget deficits under Bush. Remember congress and the purse string under pelosi from 2006. Wake up. Obama is playing you for a fool. Look at what he does not what he says. Just like The big oil nonsense. He had both houses and gas was cheaper but he kept the oil subsidies. WAKE UP. Now go to bed you have to go to school and you need to put your footie jammies on.
dornjim 10 months ago 3
@muirgeo ok, again i have to say, please educate yourself before speaking and making a fool out of yourself, the dems/libs were in control of the HOUSE and SENATE from JANUARY , 2007 THRU JANUARY 2011, thats 4, count them, FOUR years of control, and still have control of the senate so the republicans can't do anything.
take a look at the unemployment rate and gas prices in december 2006, see where they were at, then follow the dems forward, and please don't deny it, its of record.
colonialtitle1 10 months ago 3

Well young Republicans one of Obama's plans is NOT to cut loan programs for college students... as the republicans plan to do... so they can give even more tax breaks to billionaires.
muirgeo 10 months ago
The debt is fictional, as long as GDP is stable the size of the debt is arbitrary.
These poor college kids have no clue how the economy works, Obama's plan is infinitely superior to the republicans plan (whatever that is)

ACRScout57 10 months ago
Debt isn't compassionate. The girl at 28 seconds is right. Instead of spending the money on better public schools, making college more affordable or fixing social security, we have to spend that money on paying interest on the national debt. That $5.5 trillion we'll spend over the next ten years could pay for a lot of useful things. Debt isn't compassionate, so let's get rid of it.
jdhwashmo 10 months ago
at 28 secs, girl says what i have been saying lately: "debt isn't compassionate." awesome. keep pointing out that with bankrupt federal and state governments, the poor will do very very badly.
