"Grey," as his close friends called him had the prismatic ability to flip a sketch inside out and upside down, at the last minute of writing. That gave the "Pythons" that extra nuttiness that made them famous.
What can we say but that it is always true that few great minds , such as Graham , are ever as honored in life as much as they are after they are gone. I saw Graham as a man who could think creatively outside of the norm and say on film what most of us were scared to say out loud in real life. ( Not to be read out loud, oh sorry!) I only wish that he had lived a little longer to see how much he really gave to the art of film and how many he influenced with Monty Python. So sad.
We grew up with, funnily enough, a pirate copy of Yellowbeard, and when I was in the united states I was ecstatic to find the local dvd store had a copy... I could say every line and knew every action that was going to happen, yet it was an amazing experience to watch this film for the first time in 20 years. To my mind this is without a doubt the best Monty Python film that Monty Python never made.
i think Cartman's Fatbeard is more inspired by Yellowbeard than any single other pirate...I love it when comedy connects like that...and yeah, I agree, this movie wasn't all that bad...i mean people liked Titanic but not this...jeez...
It strikes me that the only cast member missing from the on-set interviews is poor old Marty feldman, who died during the filming. Sad.
I don't understand the criticism this movie received. It's not a classic piece of cinema, you've just got to take it for what it is, a hilarious laugh with a great cast!
i saw a mention of this , years ago on a python site and i wondered was it still for sale . i loved this film when i was younger . lets hope they can ship it to ireland without costing me a fortune :-)
I first came across Yellowbeard while I was at school. At 12 years old the idea of a crazy looking pirate raping women & killing people was hilarious. Unfortunetely it was something I never grew out of so on seeing that it;s finally being released on DVD in September in the UK I'm thrilled
And i know i said it before, but i'll say it again, this wonderful documentary should be on the Yellowbeard dvd (wich had no extra features what so ever).

Yellow Beard is underrated. Still not a great movie, but not without its share of laughter.

It isn't a terrible movie, really. Good to watch if you have time to kill and need a laugh.

Not quite sure why you had 2 thumbs down for that comment!! What you say about Graham Chapman sounds spot on to me.

Great footage there, next: "Dr Graham Chapman - Remembered", right? Heh... now, _that_ would be great."
Thanks Mike!
