@CrazySmurf01 most likely as long as it has a real gun style delta ring. I'm pretty sure it won't work with TM or ICS guns.

@zachrome16 No, you do not need it at all. I did it on my ar15 in one pull, with one of my hands while installing the rail. It takes about 5 lbs of pressure to depress the delta ring. Some people don't have that kind of infant like strength I suppose.

@YeuLaKho Yes, though you might need two people. One person to grip the delta ring with two hands and pull back on it, and one person to slip off the handguard. Doing it by yourself without the tool is a pain in the ass.

yes, depending on which "big round piece" you're talking about, both the delta ring, and front gas blocks can be removed and replaced with low profile parts

Just purchashed Colt AR-15 M4 and wish to accessorize starting with good set of rails 2 give maximum options w/o compromize 2 weight, strength etc What brand of quad rail did u just install and would you reccomend my doing the installation myself? I have no gunsmithing experience save changing sights on handguns. I am old enough to admitt to what I can't do myself and well off enough to have someone else do it for me if necessary, but do prefer 2 get my "hands dirty". Thanks.

The weapon should not fire when the trigger is pulled. Malfuntions can occur and so can accidental discharges. They have killed people and they will continue to. It's better to be too safe than not safe enough.
