  • There were additional activities on the Quad that eve so people were going from stage to booth to what-have-you. Looks like this was early on during the evening. U can hear clapping & cheering at the end: tells you the crowd enlarged & we don't know how it grew as they played more. This crowd *would* know the instruments being used, and yes, they would know Skynard: the musicians likely do as well. Take a CUE from the artists; they were smiling after playing & graciously bowing... THAT's class!

  • Checked online & they were @ the Arts Quad at Cornell on 7/15/11. B4 you get all out of shape about the sparse audience, this was part of the free concert series offered in summer, when Cornell's student body of ~20,000 is greatly reduced to < 1/5. City's population is ~32-33 thou at best: I saw a great many artists up close (Yo-Yo Ma, Sweet Honey In The Rock...) - doesn't lessen the performance or the appreciation by the "smallish crowd"!

  • one of my favourite songs. i have it on LP.

  • I so wish I was there!!

  • "Moronic audience" is a good term for these idiots. I'll bet if you asked most of them what instruments were playing they would answer, "Oh, was there someone playing? I guess I missed it". People are so wrapped up in themselves they have no idea if Christ was crucified or run over by a bicycle. I'm surprised someone didn't yell out, "Do some Skynard"!!

  • When did this happen? An opportunity that is somewhat lessened without advance notice...still, such a magnificent gesture on the part of the artists...kudos...

  • what i would,nt give to hear such a perfect performance live.brings back the sorrow of the civil war

  • No Class audience. I find it is the same everywhere I go as a musician. But one must be true to the music and continue too play through the moronic epiosodes.

  • moronic americans

  • What on earth is with the sparse crowd of people talking while this genius is playing one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written?!? What are they -- deaf?

  • Deaf? No, they're just Americans :-( Said isn't it?

  • @zobangub the people playing are Americans, so quit with the stupid cliches, just makes you look ignorant!

  • Always brings tears to my eyes....

  • Beautiful... from the master himself, the man who wrote this music.... thank you for sharing.

  • Boy I just love the way that violin crawls under the skin and lays bare the soul.
