Can we stop riding the big bandwagon and just say that alto sax player is a beast? I love his tone and he looks like he knows what he's doing. Fuck these haters
James9533 You really are having a bad day. It'd be great to hear some objective comments featuring body parts above the waist line, In the meantime say hi to East Bumfuck and like I said, keep practising!!!!!
"If you can play a solo on this tune better than the sax player's..."
Can you play basketball better than Manu Ginobli? Probably not. Does that mean he's the greatest basketball player of all time? Or that he's even good? You probably can't play saxophone any better than an average high schooler, that doesn't mean I'm going to kindly dole out accolades. Your analogy is null and your quote was ripped completely out of context.
James9533 and Shulman are possibly a love match........for some real fun check out Shulman's you tube page, laugh as he grunts his way through Softly as Morning Sunrise. As for you, your don't offer opinions so much as cerebral puke. It must be difficult to come to grips with your life in perpetual oblivion when confronted with what real contemporary sax playing is. Dream on Buddy.
"James9533 and Shulman are possibly a love match."
And it sounds like you beat your dick to this video on a daily basis. If you wish to discuss REAL jazz sax solos then we can start. Feel free to debate me on this page or inbox me and I'll make you look like a real ass. This saxophone player wouldn't even be booked for local gigs in my town playing like that.
Once again, the solo sucked and its my opinion. Don't like it then fuck off, faggot.
WTH: How can anyone say that the sax player sucks? He was great, technical and musical. No he wasn't perfect, but then again who is... Ryan was amazing as usual. Just enjoy this great music, but you can tell every musician has given years to their craft it is clearly shows.
i'm seeing a lot of comments from kids being like "oh the alto player sucks!!" but not a single person has had a reason to back it up. the more i listen to this recording and hear him play the more i enjoy his tone and especially his energy. music is about expression especially jazz music. he's a very good example of this even though he might not technically be as good as ryan kisor at playing his instrument. but c'mon.. who is? so quit the hate guys and just enjoy cause this is great music
"not a single person has had a reason to back it up..."
Perhaps you missed this well defined comment here from Jacob, "He has an annoying, bright, smooth jazz sound. He's often out of tune. His swing feel is reminiscent of a middle school student. The harmonic material he plays is boring and predictable, never pushes the changes the way ryan does. His articulation is sloppy. Need I say more?"
@James9533 ok well for the out of tune thing, even ryan uses the alternate fingering for his concert G's making it sharp, and it's easy to hear too. true, he doesn't push the changes the way ryan can, but like in all honesty not many people can. i liked the alto players solo's personally. like at least his tone is unique and original... there's no point in recreating what's already been done.
OUCH! I guess if the comment wasn't entirely self defeating it'd have a bit more bite!
You may want to play in the Lincoln Centre Band.....but it'll never happen, you see uninformed, mean spirited assholes aren't generally welcome in a medium that demands such selfless dedication. So keep practicing buddy, 'cos thats thats the only taste of music you'll ever have.
And do you play in LCO? Oh okay, thought so. Way to make yourself look like a complete ass hole.
Sorry, but this isn't middle school pep band where we slap every kid on the ass and tell them they played their scales excellently and soloed like professionals. I didn't enjoy his solo and other youtube users didn't either. It's almost hilarious that I'm being attacked for my personal opinion when you have offered NONE. Dismissed, idiot.
Alto fucking sucks. And no, I can't play alto that well and I don't fucking need to in order to be able to inform other youtube users that they are listening to fucking garbage. Point blank, period.
I agree with Jacob, all though not as strongly. I feel that Chris sounds like he is trying a lot harder than the rest of the guys. Ryan in particular sounds very chill. Chris just doesn't flow as well. Regradless, he is a very talented player, I just don't like his style much.
Chris' playing hardly 'sucks' as you put it. It would be more accurate to say you don't like his playing. So what, exactly, about his playing is it that you disapprove of?

You may or may not be commenting just to hear yourself talk..."swing feel reminiscent of a middle school student"? Where did you go to middle school??? Ryan's solo is the most inside the changes I've ever heard him play...Chris actually goes out more than Ryan in this video.
@JacobShulman One question? Are you better than him? If Not, than you should just shutup and listen to him.... Because I hate to break it to you bro... But Chris Hunter and Ryan Kisor are both BADASSES.
Great job Ryan! Awesome playing as always.
