When I was little, going south on State St., there was the Shell (?) gas station on the corner of McCann and State, then the old mission (spooky place and now on N. State St.), then my grandparents' house, then Coveous' (sp?) house, then the State Bar. My grandparents house had those old grey shingles, and I think Coveous' had old wood shingles. Both houses were long and narrow. My grandparents had a step-up that was right on the sidewalk..
thanks for the drive through downtown, i lived on portage road by the high school from 95-2001, loved my time there alot, don't miss the winters, though. too many spring days i drove to g.r. to ride motorcycles with friends, then back over the bridge to snow and cold, LOL i worked for randy gustin and jeff cryderman while i lived there.
I grew up there in the 50s. The convenience store at 4:47 in your video is where my grandmother's house once stood. Thanks for a very enjoyable tour -- I loved the remark on the color of the water in the straits below the bridge.
brings back some good memories
