  • This is nice music. Interesting that its from thje 17th century. The begining sounds like a 13th century medieval castle hehe! Lovely song

  • No question marks about the tune ! It´s clear that Praetorius arranged only given tunes. Many of the originals are spurious, but one after the other discovery has been made to clear the origins. Among "his" corantos the TopTen of British folksongs and dances of the 1590/1600s has been discovered... Let also Certon be the composer here !!!

  • Very nice. Isn't this tune based (or at least loosely based) on Certon's 'Je ne l'ose dire'?

  • Don't know. :s but you made me curious. I really wanted to hear the other version which is based on it. :D Anyway, this song is from the year 1600 :D So I don't think it's based on it. I think the title you said, was based on the 1600th version. Well, I'm still looking for the one you told me of which was based on. :D

  • I may be wrong but if Praetorius wrote this in 1600, then it could well have been based on a chanson by Pierre Certon (c.1510-1572) called 'Je ne l'ose dire'. There are a few recordings of it on YouTube. The tune is different but there are some striking similarities.

  • This song is soooo good. I like it so much. It's the song on "The Tudors", Season 2, after Queen Anne was introduced to the ambassador of France...
