"I know quite alot about this group. I will get back to you nice people. By the way in 1967 they did alot of openers for Jerry & the Dead." Peace &love hippie3375
I vaguely recall this song on the radio or used in some 60s movie possibly. Peanut Butter Conspiracy was a genuine hippie band and one of the best. I had a vinyl copy of the Ashes band first album, from which this female lead singer Sandi Robison derived. Other great 60s bands were Ultimate Spinach, Mad River, Fever Tree, The Smoke, Pearls Before Swine, Terry Reid, Wilkinson Tricycle, Mandrake Memorial.
so good, I'm in LOVE with the PBC, stumbled onto them about a year and a half-2 years ago while digging around for new(to me) old stuff, wondering why it took so long and why no one ever told me about them. Can someone PLEASE upload "Gonna Get You Home" from the For Children of All Ages album? it's one of my favorites and i would like to post it on facebook so everyone can hear more of the beauty that is the PBC. haha
Ever since buying this record 6-7 years ago I've absolutely loved this song, and every single time I listen to it, I get thrilled! It makes me wanna rock, it makes me wanna dance, it makes me want to meet people!
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
I don't care if there are people who want to snidely write songs like this off as old hat hippie nostalgia--I still think it's message is an important one. Love is not just some "hippie" ideal, it's a universal one,and those who laugh at the concept or make a mockery of it are the real losers. Even if it didn't hit the Top 40 to become a big hit,it did receive significant airplay, and the fact that many have fond recollections of this song indicates it touched many lives. It is a happening thing!
I always thought Sandi sounded like Janis J.--Was at the Whaleback in S.M on Lin. when the PBC replaced the Ashes--Does anyone know if "NAM" claimed any of those guys--Did not know Sandi was gone, couldn' have been what , 45 years old..So sad..............
@twobit211 They were from California and this was their biggest hit.I believe the lead singer passed away in 1988.Don't know if you got this on an album or 45,but Why Did I Get So High is another great tune of theirs which is also on YouTube.Best Wishes.
@kehkehbia You are so right about her. I consider myself a huge music fan but until tonight I had never heard these folks before.....so much music, so little time. lol
The album that this tune comes off reminds me of early 80's Liverpool. I went around with an afgan jacket, beads, paisley, coloured shades, hair, the lot. Then i found mod!!!
mackb909,did not see your opinion.YOU ARE RIGHT! About Slick that is. hippie3375
