@Trekfreek You failed to watch the part where it is a mining craft of the future. That means it is not under the auspices of the tel'she'ar, or War department. Also being a great fan of TOS NG Voyage and Enterprise I found that there were to many plot-holes. Redmater? and Chekov was never that good on the transporter. I can buy into alternate timelines because of time-travel. Agreed young Spock should not of been able to pilot old Spocks ship and 1701's warp nacelles where to close together

Can't argue with you on DS9, it was too much like the show it ripped off Babylon 5 (which was done better). The new Movie was a bad film. It had no central plot, it was poorly acted, and it had plot holes that can't be ignored (like young Spock flying a space ship 100 years more advanced than anything he had ever seen, IMPOSSIBLE!) IT SUCKED !

If you seen Star Trek II or IV or VI first your interest would still have peaked only you would have seen proper Star Trek instead of Star Wars ep VII+Kirk. Personally, I once saw a movie called "Gorilla at Large" It was so bad I almost lost out on the only good version of King Kong (1976).

All that Paramount particularly asked of J.J. was that it would be a one shot, high grossing movie that had significant room for expandability. He did exactly that. And cinematically, the movie looks fantastic. The soundtrack is also great. But that is all Giacchino. Anyway, you have now completely missed my point. And I feel sorry for you. You did not enjoy this movie. It could have been fun. So I say:

@Equestrian4Canisever I must have said it over a million times by now. It is not taboo to like bad movies. That does not mean that I must remain silent when someone says something like "It's a great movie" or "The best Star Trek EVER"!!! Liking a movie does not make it good. Constructive criticism is the only way people improve. It is my hope that if more people, who know film, speak up Hollywood will work harder on quality instead of quantity.

@DigiBullet23 Actually he was not killed fast enough. The second his crew found out that they were in the past they should have acted like Romulans and killed him, then take the advanced Tech ship to their home planet. Instead they just blindly followed him for no other reason than “he is in command”. I yield at the screen “None of your leaders are born yet. Kill the dumb ass! You won’t get in trouble!”

Instead they all blindly followed him to their deaths, which is not like Romulans. Romulans only sacrifice themselves in the name of the Romulan Empire not for some mad man who falsely blames someone for not saving his family, a family that has not died yet. The only way to enjoy this movie is to ignore the story, the script, the plot...

@Trekfreek You failed to watch the part where it is a mining craft of the future. That means it is not under the auspices of the tel'she'ar, or War department. Also being a great fan of TOS NG Voyage and Enterprise I found that there were to many plot-holes. Redmater? and Chekov was never that good on the transporter. I can buy into alternate timelines because of time-travel. Agreed young Spock should not of been able to pilot old Spocks ship and 1701's warp nacelles where to close together

@PaisGreenapple3 Yea, epic like a migraine! You want to see a truly good epic fantasy movie? Watch Green Lantern, now that is an epic movie that is worth the money! Great acting, solid plot (simple but solid) No noticeable plot holes, and because it’s fantasy (not Sci-Fi) you can forgive bad science.

@DigiBullet23 I had no problem see new young faces playing Kirk and the rest. I watch that all the time on the web page Star Trek Phase 2 (New Voyages). Can't argue with you on DS9, it was too much like the show it ripped off Babylon 5 (which was done better). The new Movie was a bad film. It had no central plot, it was poorly acted, and it had plot holes that can't be ignored (like young Spock flying a space ship 100 years more advanced than anything he had ever seen, IMPOSSIBLE!) IT SUCKED !

I don't care if the hardcore Trekkies hate JJ Abrams' version, if it leaves viewers thinking "hey, this Star Trek thing is pretty good, I might just check out some of the original stuff", then its done its job well.

I love the scenes on the Ice Planet Hoth with Luke Kirkwalker, and the fact that Obi Wan Spock was there as well was just pure genius, can't wait to see if Darth Nero is really Luke's father, just have to wait for the next film, The Federation Strikes Back.

And it's pretty obvious there is some sort of script for this film just by watching the preview. You want to see a film with no concept or script go watch Enter The Void. @Chloeissocoollad Loving a bad movie with explosions is your choice. If it got you interested in the original fine, but I remind you that a good Star Trek movie would have done that too. If you seen Star Trek II or IV or VI first your interest would still have peaked only you would have seen proper Star Trek instead of Star Wars ep VII+Kirk. Personally, I once saw a movie called "Gorilla at Large" It was so bad I almost lost out on the only good version of King Kong (1976).

OH, and you know why it is still gene's way... ITS A FRICKING SERIES! You have the time to do the philosophical stuff that gene did. In a single season, you have anywhere from 6-40 hours to work with... IN A MOVIE YOU HAVE LESS THAN 4.

A series was for character development. each individual episode was for philosophy. "Dooms Day Machine"= anti nuclear weapons, "Let that be Your Last Battlefield"=anti race hatred, The Enemy Within" = we all have good & bad in us. Need I go on? For more proof that you can "squeeze" a moral in to "LESS THAN 4" hours see my video "The True Meaning of Star Trek".

@MotOrieOrigDesMedia Oh no... I got your point but unfortunately you are completely wrong. You are confusing a series like Star Trek or Gun Smoke with a series like General Hospital. You see long story dramas flip the traditional way of telling stories by focusing on relationships in an episode and having the story as secondary. This is not the way to make a good movie. The story must come first when it comes to movies & morality tales. Also the two should never EVER "play leap frog".

All that Paramount particularly asked of J.J. was that it would be a one shot, high grossing movie that had significant room for expandability. He did exactly that. And cinematically, the movie looks fantastic. The soundtrack is also great. But that is all Giacchino. Anyway, you have now completely missed my point. And I feel sorry for you. You did not enjoy this movie. It could have been fun. So I say:
