I got one. I LOVE IT. Unfortunately, I have to keep it in a safe because it's an asset. I have a Skyhawk Blue Angel to wear on regular days and a Omega Speedmaster Pro (vintage) when I dress.
this is kinda stupid though, most people who can buy this watch are probably watch fans and collectors who switch up what watch they wear all the time, half the time id have an emergency id probably never have this watch
121.5 MHz distress beacons should no longer be offered for sale without the seller advising you that they will no longer be licenced for distress alerting from 1 February 2009 and will no longer be detected by satellite from this date. Please advise AMSA if you are offered a 121.5 MHz distress beacon without an appropriate warning.
121.5 MHz distress beacons are no longer a suitable distress alerting device
@seneca1939 I just watched the video, and for some time had a generell intrest in these watches . Could you please tell what happend, since the watch diden't work? From the videon it appers you can test it, to make sure you hear the signal, did your watch function on the test?
I just dons like the fact that it can only be used once it should have an antenna more like a phone where you can fold it back in to turn off the siganal
If it is a legit emergency it would be fine ofcourse, Breitling will pay up for any damage to the watch aswell but if you use it for fun, you will have to cough up the money for all services
the only flaw is the antenna, because it can only be used once, if it was one of those antenas some cell phone have then you you can turn the siginal on and off.

Seems rather expensive for a quartz watch. Personally I don't see the appeal of owning a Breitling that isn't an automatic, but to each his own I guess.
So if you activate it then does that mean, it cannot be used anymore after that?
Lastly what if you used it in an emergancy (not plane crash) but ship wreck or drifted off sea, or even lost on the desert?? then does that justify an emergancy and will Breitling give you another one?
it can be used but to restore the transmitter is 50% of the devices value. but day to day use afterwards i'm not so sure. breitling say only for aeronautical uses but if it was not used in such a scenario but still saved your life, i like to think they'd honour the free watch deal because of the publicity such a story would generate. you get me?
my english is not so good ha ha. yeah i just meant that to fix you transmitter is around half the price that you paid for the watch. and ad hoc as in for one use only? yes
So, hold on...water is bad for the antennae and -5 celcius is too? What If I'm stuck on a mountaintop like in the movie Alive?

@alonfab Correct, and I might be wrong but, Federal law mandates (following 91) that all aircraft monitor 121.5 MHz freq. .
theroncon 8 months ago
@alonfab
THIS IS NOT TRUE. My salesman claimed that 121.5 MHz homing transmitters
that operate at 121.5 MHz and do not rely on satellite detection will not be affected by the phase-out of satellite processing at 121.5 MHz”.
If not - I wouldn't have bought it.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we have a preception that aviation and flying relate to accuracy and precision?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

Nice watch, useless gimmick 99% of the time.
shadowblack1987 1 year ago
@shadowblack1987 you don't buy it for the 99% of the time but for that 1%.
FEVB 1 year ago
@FEVB No... not really. I have yet met a pilot that wears one, both in the private and public aviation world.
Don't get me wrong, great watch, but its a gimmick.
On my side, i'm enjoying my new 2010 Superocean (red) :P
