  • So, hold on...water is bad for the antennae and -5 celcius is too? What If I'm stuck on a mountaintop like in the movie Alive?

  • I got one. I LOVE IT. Unfortunately, I have to keep it in a safe because it's an asset. I have a Skyhawk Blue Angel to wear on regular days and a Omega Speedmaster Pro (vintage) when I dress.

  • Thanks for sharing.

    Best,

    Ron

  • this is kinda stupid though, most people who can buy this watch are probably watch fans and collectors who switch up what watch they wear all the time, half the time id have an emergency id probably never have this watch

  • Warning

121.5 MHz distress beacons should no longer be offered for sale without the seller advising you that they will no longer be licenced for distress alerting from 1 February 2009 and will no longer be detected by satellite from this date. Please advise AMSA if you are offered a 121.5 MHz distress beacon without an appropriate warning.

121.5 MHz distress beacons are no longer a suitable distress alerting device

  • @alonfab Correct, and I might be wrong but, Federal law mandates (following 91) that all aircraft monitor 121.5 MHz freq. .

  • @alonfab

THIS IS NOT TRUE. My salesman claimed that 121.5 MHz homing transmitters

that operate at 121.5 MHz and do not rely on satellite detection will not be affected by the phase-out of satellite processing at 121.5 MHz”.

If not - I wouldn't have bought it.

  • I have almost gotten killed due to this watch not working, beaware do not buy this is

a total scam this watch, it does not even transmit a signal ,. it didnt work for me and

i have proof and pictures and witnesses and news coverage from my incident to proof my statement.

  • @seneca1939 I just watched the video, and for some time had a generell intrest in these watches . Could you please tell what happend, since the watch diden't work? From the videon it appers you can test it, to make sure you hear the signal, did your watch function on the test?

    Hoping to hear from you

  • if anybody knows a watch that can do something weird like this one (the emergency) please let me know i will apriciate it thanks!!

  • @gunbojason

I have one, bought it last July.

  • its like a james bond moovie ^^

  • Umm how is a fighter jet gonna pick you up if they find you?

  • idgi.....

  • ahahah, they stopped monitoring the frequency!!!

  • @nicholasperry56 eny plane whit radio can hear that signal... :)

  • @dukisu

but it is no longer the "go-to" frequency. Sure it will get picked up, but it isn't gunna get the same kind of attention as it would a year ago ;)

  • can't I just buy the transmitter with antenna and wear in on my other arm. I bet it is much cheaper that the whole watch

  • how comes and they don't combine an E6B bezel???

  • I just dons like the fact that it can only be used once it should have an antenna more like a phone where you can fold it back in to turn off the siganal

  • @BrainSalad212

Breitling will give you a new one if its a genuine emergency

  • Nice watch, useless gimmick 99% of the time.

  • @shadowblack1987 you don't buy it for the 99% of the time but for that 1%.

  • @FEVB No... not really. I have yet met a pilot that wears one, both in the private and public aviation world.

Don't get me wrong, great watch, but its a gimmick.

On my side, i'm enjoying my new 2010 Superocean (red) :P

  • @shadowblack1987

i know lots of pilots with them, airline/fighter pilots dont use them only because they cant really afford one

  • @shadowblack1987 gimmick? what you mean?

  • so if i was kidnapped and i used this, i would be fined?

  • @scotfreak

If it is a legit emergency it would be fine ofcourse, Breitling will pay up for any damage to the watch aswell but if you use it for fun, you will have to cough up the money for all services

  • the only flaw is the antenna, because it can only be used once, if it was one of those antenas some cell phone have then you you can turn the siginal on and off.

  • Seems rather expensive for a quartz watch. Personally I don't see the appeal of owning a Breitling that isn't an automatic, but to each his own I guess.

  • didn't save steve fossett!!

  • @Berialavrenti Fosset wasn't wearing his, he left it on his nightstand next to his flightplan and last clue.

  • it works! ! ;-) Emergency Mission....its very kool

  • Cool

  • OMG I LOVE THIS WATCH I HAVE MINE FOR MORE THAN 4 years already :)

  • Sat. phone. and you are saved.

  • getting mine in that exact yellow in a month. come fly wid me mayn. x

  • So if you activate it then does that mean, it cannot be used anymore after that?

Lastly what if you used it in an emergancy (not plane crash) but ship wreck or drifted off sea, or even lost on the desert?? then does that justify an emergancy and will Breitling give you another one?

  • it can be used but to restore the transmitter is 50% of the devices value. but day to day use afterwards i'm not so sure. breitling say only for aeronautical uses but if it was not used in such a scenario but still saved your life, i like to think they'd honour the free watch deal because of the publicity such a story would generate. you get me?

  • thanks a bunch for replying to my question... that does help. i didnt quite understand your first sentence....

anyway does it mean the antenna is an ad hoc safety device

  • my english is not so good ha ha. yeah i just meant that to fix you transmitter is around half the price that you paid for the watch. and ad hoc as in for one use only? yes

  • bloody hell, thats not really economical then is it! so its around £1000 to fix it!

  • @NaughtyBwoi

Any real emergency, and yes you get a new one...

  • i paid uk3455 for mine(black dial of course). service is heavy at uk360 bi-annully. yeah i get alot of pleasure from this device. Adeus.

  • cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I still prefer my Chronomat.. but this one is indeed a very nice deice.

  • lol if you activate it for nothing, you get such a huge fine!

But I still want one, amazing watch.

  • $3000 in Canada. Not sure about elsewhere. I'd buy it though if I did a lot of hiking or back country boarding in the winter though...

  • Die Bretling Uhr ueber die wir gesprochen haben.

  • my next Breitling!

  • and me...same clour.
