@sisensi@sisensi what you heard from ex-greeks is false. when ppl decide to pledge and become a member, if they don't know who they are as a person when they pledge, they pledge for all the wrong reasons. if you know who you are when you pledge then you will make the letters, not the other way around. You make the letters, You make colors, and You make the fraternity. if you dont know who you are then you are allowing the letters, colors, and the fraternity to make you which is the wrong way.

Another thing, DIVISION, life is full of division. Example, like the more mentally gifted students go to honors classes and regular students go to regular classes. And my family, including my mother, and other friends are in frats and sororities. They are Catholics, Baptists and Muslim faith's. It is rude to impose your beliefs on people. I am a muslim, but I am very respectful of other people and feel I no need to "make corrections" assuming that everyone is on one accord. Generally, It saddens me that religion can save people from anything, except being close minded. That being said we are all entitled to our veiws, truths and opinions but no one is entitled to their own facts. Find a more appropriate place to evangelize. No. Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity Inc. does not recognize a legacy clause. Each aspirant must stand on his on merits. Period! Discretion is key. If you are truly interested, focus on important things FIRST. Get your GPA up, be a LEADER on your campus, do COMMUNITY SERVICE, & carry yourself in a POSITIVE way.

Gamma Phi does not exist anymore! Nobody knew of their establishment, including my founders, who seeked and asked in 1904-1905 did a collegiate fraternity exist for black college train men. Alpha was founded long before its establishment in 1906. Bottom line is Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity Inc., is the prototype/originator for all black greek letter organizations/societies. That's a fact! This is a tribute to Alpha Phi Alpha. It only makes sense for an Alpha brother to defend his organization. Especially when outsiders are speaking false information about the it. True Alpha Men don't boast. Unlike some organizations, we let our actions speak for itself. You never see Alpha men in the media boasting about their frat. I can't say the same about other black fraternities.

No, I don't think its a stupid question because I believe all black greeks of the divine nine are special and have done a lot to uplift the society as a whole. I've looked at most of the tributes on youtube and found them all to be interesting. So to question another fraternity's history when your not a memeber yourself I think its silly and it makes the other person look jealous.

I already know that Brother King received his PH.D. from Boston University. Boston University is part of the Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity inc. This is a known fact.
A Phi A is the first intercollegiate Greek- letter fraternity in the United States established for men of African descent.
