It will take some doing, but you have one of the finest PUBLIC school systems in the world. Throw corporate criminals in prison, and show the world how it’s done!
According to an eight part investigative report by award winning journalist Peter Bynre:
UC Regent Richard Blum who is married to Senator Diane Feinstein has been profiting personally from investments of the UC pension trustees.
"we don't have a free market" ok admit Moore DOES have a point. Student says capitalist system isn't the problem, it's corporate corruption (monetary tied to natural resources). We certainly need to downsize, decentralize& separate govt. from corps., there is no accountability unless this happens."Public Schools" were set up to be run by students & professors working with community, not large international corporations.
How does our election system work with e-voting?As we all know; it's not who votes, it's who counts the votes.Millions of votes have already been manipulated at the push of a button(Dibold)! It's clear that Obama/Bush/Clinton/Bush Sr., etc. administrations have propped up one another through out the yrs.Who owns our communication devices with which we make "change?" Facebook has now hired people from Bush JR.'s administration! Moore is a distraction, there are more important things to ponder.
i think this dummie Moore is so famous because he is doing exactly what the crooks want - more power and more control and more tax money to the Govt (that way the Gov will be even better equipped to support the corporations which profit from all the Socialism)
@Gearhe1d : Also, many "wanna be" socialists (who never lived under a single socialist regime) use Youtube=Google=Capitalist to spew ignorance as they rant, drink "coca cola" or Starbucks coffee, listen to music on their iPods, . . . and tell us how great socialism is . . . Cheers.
The Founders did not have optimism for the government, thus there limited role outlined in the Constitution.
People given power with no limits, will always abuse it. And if the government is the one with unlimited powers, who will be the bearer of their abuse?.... The People.
I really do not understand Moore logic here, He says what he believes our representatives are supposed to do, says that they don't do it, acknowledges that it "is not working" and his solution is to give them more power. I don't understand it. Moore finds his magical thinking to be humorous. i think that is is stupid and dangerous.
P.S. Mr. Moore, we don't want ideas that sound pretty, we want ones that will grant a positive outcome.
Good for you Chad. One thing I've been noticing more and more lately that had never really occured to me, Moore seems to be more approachable and willing to debate than most libs. Doesn't mean he's right (he's not), but I do have to respect him a bit for that, rather than like getting Chad thrown out
Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Democracy are all overrated terms. Capitalism started to decline after Reganomics. Moore is right we do not have a true free market system. What we have is a monopolize corporations such as Wal mart, that put small local business out. Back in the days, in free market it was local busnisses competing each other. Now all you have is "Mcdonalization"
Mussolini said that fascism could more appropriately be described as corporatism, as it is a merger of corporate and state power. Lenin described corporatism as "capitalism in decay." The corporatism we see now is not some abnormal and malignant growth in capitalism's side; rather, it is capitalism's scrambling attempt to relieve itself of the forthright reaction to its inherent failings - the burgeoning outrage of the working class. Any enduring capitalist system's destiny lies in corporatism.
I think people get too hung up on labels. Communism, capitalism, socialism, anarcho-syndicalism, libertarian socialist.
I would describe my views as a mixture of all of these things. I had a person tell me recently "I'm a deontological libertarian minarchist". How full of shit do you have to be to claims such titles?
It's pointless, and it's a misdirection to argue about labels. Discuss the issues. Everyone has a different idea of what socialism and capitalism are and can achieve.
At 3:20 Moore says "I'm trying to hold on to what little optimism i have inside of me" This statement is what Thomas Sowell would decribe as an "unconstrained vision" in his book "Conflict of Visons". There is an interesting interview series on Sowell's assertion here on youtube the first of which is on my channel favorites. It's worth watching.
Michael Moore works for the Elite Bankers. His movie was made to convince people that capitalism killed the economy and not the corporate offshore banks. The Banks run the world, and they munipulate everything from voting to stock market. Attack the disease from the root.
The government is NOT the people. "The people" don't need to be represented through government, "the people" can represent themselves in a actually FREE society.
Someone desperately needs to correct this lardy sweat bucket of a film maker.
That is dangerous. A society with no rule is like a bunch of chickens with their head cut off trying to find their way. You need some sort of organization. It is a problem when that rule goes chaotic....like what is happening now.
I mean a libertarian society. A society of minimal rule. A society wherein the role of government is to protect property right, enforce the rule of law, enforce contracts, and provide for the national defense.
"libertarian society" - libertarian society doesn't necessarily mean free market capitalism. Libertarianism, which describes "free mind", was first applied to politics by a french communist. The man (Dejaques), argued against any hierarchical government. So, by definition, libertarianism doesn't ensure property right. What I'm saying is that you should be specific in saying free market capitalism.
Why does he call his film Capitalism: A love story? Because his audience hate Capitalism and that title can sell more tickets. Which makes him a Capitalist. A real Capitalist is the guy who writes a novel in which he is the villain who gets killed, because that way he know it will be a best seller.
Just because someone is elected does not mean they get to enact any law or rule or edict they want... they are still bound and restricted by the Constitution...however, your leaders hold our Constitution in contempt and disregard it completely save to use it at times it suits them to bash others over the head with it. Anyone who ignores the constitution so they can steal freedom from their fellow countrymen should be tried for treason... and once found guilty, hung.
@averagejoe040 I agree with you, but I also think that you should see his perspective a little clearer on this. He's not "confusing" free markets with crony capitalism. He's saying-- and this is the Noam Chomsky position as well-- that free markets will *inevitably* collude with the government. "Free markets + government" is the stuff of Utopia, an unobtainable ideal. What we need, in my opinion, is anarcho-capitalism. Remove the government, so the big business will lose that channel to power.
@averagejoe040 Moreover, "shrinking" the government does nothing. You have to remove all elected officials, all the supposedly enlightened elite who are granted the power to work through coercion, violence and force.
Its good for young people to hear the truth from people their own age. I mean, I'm more likely to listen to what someone my own age has to say, rather than some old fart.
I wish I could articulate what that guy said as well as he did. If I asked Michael a question I'd be nervous and I'd say the question wrong or I'd stutter or something. I wish Hannity took that guy's approach when interviewing Michael Moore. It's so sad how capitalism is given a bad name by people like Hannity and Limbaugh. Neal Boortz and glenn Beck aren't too bad, but they're war-mongers.
Boortz has the best program in my opinion. I think RushBaugh plays up the "he-said she-said" drama too much and the others are similar. Plus Neal's "government outrage" is priceless.
Yeah, I've been listening to Boortz since I was 12. Rush worries about the people in politics more than the principle. He won't shut up about Obama. I don't like Obama, but I don't hate him because he is Obama, I don't like him because he is pushing socialist policies. He would be far less polarizing if he would stop attacking the people and start attacking the policies.
Yes, the music makes it hard for me to hear what is being said, but haven't you noticed in movies and TV shows they do the same thing now. The music drowns out the dialog. This is especially frustrating for older people who have hearing impairment.
True capitalists believe that someone who is failing should fail. Or you can bail them out. Like a forced investment with other people's money. But with 75,000 pages of government regulations what's a little more. It's not like we live in a time where the poor are jealous the rich are greedy and the politicians are idiots, all in all they are failures in one way or another. I just don't want to be tied up with the drowning fools.
yeah it's a bit annoying to listen to the speakers over the music. really annoying. hey bureaucrash, some of us aren't lip readers, can you take us into account por favor
I watched it again, and it cuts out a lot of Moore's response. If you watch his complete response you will see that he isn't rejecting democracy, but calling for a more true form of democracy. In his full response he comes off as a quasi syndicalist/anarchist. Which I think is great, because a sydicalist is 1000 better then a mainstream left of center liberal.

What I hear is that Moore got at least a few things right in the new movie.
However, he says the people want the public option. I disagree. Polls show health care legislation is unpopular and getting even more unpopular.
Also, he confuses crony capitalism with free market capitalism.
Crony capitalism is definitely a problem and even Michael Moore sees that.
