I really do not understand Moore logic here, He says what he believes our representatives are supposed to do, says that they don't do it, acknowledges that it "is not working" and his solution is to give them more power. I don't understand it. Moore finds his magical thinking to be humorous. i think that is is stupid and dangerous.

P.S. Mr. Moore, we don't want ideas that sound pretty, we want ones that will grant a positive outcome.

Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Democracy are all overrated terms. Capitalism started to decline after Reganomics. Moore is right we do not have a true free market system. What we have is a monopolize corporations such as Wal mart, that put small local business out. Back in the days, in free market it was local busnisses competing each other. I think people get too hung up on labels. Communism, capitalism, socialism, anarcho-syndicalism, libertarian socialist.

I would describe my views as a mixture of all of these things. I had a person tell me recently "I'm a deontological libertarian minarchist". How full of shit do you have to be to claims such titles?

It's pointless, and it's a misdirection to argue about labels. Discuss the issues. Everyone has a different idea of what socialism and capitalism are and can achieve.

At 3:20 Moore says "I'm trying to hold on to what little optimism i have inside of me" This statement is what Thomas Sowell would decribe as an "unconstrained vision" in his book "Conflict of Visons". "libertarian society" - libertarian society doesn't necessarily mean free market capitalism. Libertarianism, which describes "free mind", was first applied to politics by a french communist. The man (Dejaques), argued against any hierarchical government. So, by definition, libertarianism doesn't ensure property right. What I hear is that Moore got at least a few things right in the new movie.

However, he says the people want the public option. I disagree. Polls show health care legislation is unpopular and getting even more unpopular.

Also, he confuses crony capitalism with free market capitalism.

Crony capitalism is definitely a problem and even Michael Moore sees that.

@averagejoe040 I agree with you, but I also think that you should see his perspective a little clearer on this. He's not "confusing" free markets with crony capitalism. He's saying-- and this is the Noam Chomsky position as well-- that free markets will *inevitably* collude with the government. "Free markets + government" is the stuff of Utopia, an unobtainable ideal. What we need, in my opinion, is anarcho-capitalism. Remove the government, so the big business will lose that channel to power.

I wish I could articulate what that guy said as well as he did. If I asked Michael a question I'd be nervous and I'd say the question wrong or I'd stutter or something. Yes, the music makes it hard for me to hear what is being said, but haven't you noticed in movies and TV shows they do the same thing now. The music drowns out the dialog. This is especially frustrating for older people who have hearing impairment.

I watched it again, and it cuts out a lot of Moore's response. If you watch his complete response you will see that he isn't rejecting democracy, but calling for a more true form of democracy. In his full response he comes off as a quasi syndicalist/anarchist. Which I think is great, because a sydicalist is 1000 better then a mainstream left of center liberal.
