  • well planned but perfectly candid looking..

  • - NIce - a good fun watch - THANKS for sharing

  • I am shooting my first wedding for a co-worker this summer. I got a few inspirational ideas from your video:) I like your work guys:)

  • thumbs up for of montreal.

  • I like this video, and it was informative. I'm getting into the business myself.

  • very good

  • It's not really wedding photography, it's fashion photography with non-professional and mostly awkward models. Wedding photography is about people skills and confidence in your own ability to produce the goods for the client. They call the shots.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaah, you guys are both awesome together. I was very inspired by your video. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

  • i think sigma lens have their pros and cons.not all sigma lenses are good and not all sigma lenses are bad.such as 50mm f1.4 sigma can compete with canon 50mm f1.4.canon expensive because USM motor are fucking fast and quiet.also the glass less colour fringing.im recommend canon L lens for fast, rugged built, suite with any situations(weather sealing),less chromatic abberation and more "luxury" looks.haha.sigma not bad either.its cheap alternative to get good quality pics.but little less

  • I love the "gang" shots of the men walking towards the camera. Very cool.

  • As far as Canon vs. Sigma... I like to think of it as a painters brush.... Some brushes might feel better to the artist, some may last longer, produce smoother strokes at close inspection... but it's the WHOLE image, from a few feet away, that matters in the end. Sigma makes "tools" that work. It's up to the artist to know how to produce good art... Sigma is capable, if you are ;c)

  • Wonderful work. I've been to your website and blog as well. Solid body of work with a consistent and defined style. Bravo!

  • realy cool video. but i know for a fact that if i were to shoot a wedding i would never use a grafiti back ground....

  • Cool video and creative shots! One question though. (Assuming these photos were for an actual client) At 1:54-1:55 there is alot of distortion going on because of the wide angle lens used. Wouldn't it have been better to stand back an use a tele lens (say 70-200?) so there would not be distortion? I'm no one to critique photos as I haven't even done a wedding, but I am working my way up!

  • I wouldn't trust putting my gear on the ground in a place like that. Looks pretty sketchy.

  • nice video. guys, tell me, please, what's the song on 4:20?

  • I like the photos pretty well, but I do agree that shooting grip down makes you look like a tool :)

I've played with some Sigma lenses and they've not made me very happy - their Canon counterparts are better with few exception. The 85 and 50 f/ 1.4 are the only ones I can think of that just about any photographer with a good working knowledge of gear will tell you tell you is better, for the money, than the Canon L equiv.

  • I don't like artsy people from KS, I mean. I'm from Chicago and I have seem that style before.

    Weak, not new.

  • @AndreIt1980 Dude, this stuff it's 6 years old! Come and check our blog out, you may see something you like. BTW, I'm from Italy and Chicago is a place, amongst others, we deported all kind of jail scum and criminals back in the 20's. How do you like this stereotype now?

  • that wedding is awesome!!!

  • that camera looks to big for her lol

  • OMG - LOve these!

  • i'v got the same sigma 24-70 F2,8 as here is used.

It's an fantastic lens, far better feel than most of the canon lenses i used. Also sigma seems to think more about what would be usefull for the person behind the camera (as this one has couple of features never found on canon lenses). love the lens, and love the picture. And at least sigma has a a hard plastic sun hood which you can't bend instead of the canon ones.

  • Beautiful pictures, congratulations!

  • it seems they were working on a high aperature like maybe f10

  • What if any poast production program do you moast commonly use?...

  • beautiful photos.

  • Not a fan of their pictures.

  • Great video. I love the creativity you are demonstrating. You should ignore the photobores like crazymanbilly and sebicu007 (in my humble opinion). You show skill in understanding your subjects. When you know what makes them tick, you can imagine and create shots like the one at 2:14. Awesome! As you showed here, getting great shots is SOOOOO much more about getting on with people, empathy, imagination and solid technique than sticking an L lens on your 1Ds Mark IV.

  • how is the bouce card called that is in use ?

  • Thank you for sharing! I love the images! Beautiful!

  • What the hell are they shooting?!!!!!!

  • Great video (music, well...)

Got a lot of great ideas from it. Just now starting to step up up my game from being a hobbyist so seeing videos like this is great inspiration.

SIGMA wise, my personal experience, a cheap SIGMA isn't good, but the rest are just fine. Had numerous issues with mine as did a friend of mine with hers. As for 'good glass doesn't make a good image' it's true you need an eye for shooting, but lets face it, adding a good lens to your 'good eye' doesn't hurt. :)

  • She`s workin` on P (program)

  • @sebicu007 - I have not used the "program" function in all the 8 years i have been shooting. I have been rightly accused of not using my lens shade and holding the camera funny but never someone claiming to have supersonic eyes that can see the P on my camera!

  • I'd like this a hundred times....

    This is amazing xD

  • what lenses do you use?:)

    and what cameras? 40Ds?

  • thanks for the video!

  • People who don't want to learn technique would like to believe that they can hand over their credit card, buy L grade glass, and instantly have great pictures. Gino is correct - it is the end picture that matters: the tech should serve the end result.

  • when do you guys do the shooting @ 1:30 sec... before or after the church??? before or after the reception??? Please help thanks!!!

  • I,m not a professional...just beginning; But I use Sigma Lenses. And let me tell you: That 50mm prime IS all the rave! It's the BEST 50mm made--and by a 3rd party manufacturer no less. I've also read that Sigma and at least 1 other 3rd party manufacturer also produce branded lenses.

  • nice vid's m8! so artistic n cool!

  • It's 5d mark II.? With what lens?

  • i won a photo contest with a cheap APS film point and shoot camera, along time ago. IT IS ALL ABOUT COMPOSITION, NOT IF A USER USES A SIGMA LENS OR OTHER CRAP

  • Very nice work

  • I like this! I wish i could get some shots like this! I love it!

  • weak

  • nice video. Ignore the stupid comments. It's true that Canon L lens are much better than third party lenses, and it's used by most of the pros. But eventually, it's the pictures that matter. I know people who use full frame Canon with all kind of L lenses who couldn't even take a decent portrait.

@ginomolinari66 "don't talk about quality if you don't know how to achieve it." awesome comment!!!

  • So what if these guys use 3rd party lenses. I'd bet all of you guys that if none of you saw this video and only saw their photos, you guys would never have guessed that the photos are from 3rd party lenses. Who cares what lenses you use...as long as you're happy with the result, you should stick with the lenses that you're happy with... I've used Canons, Nikons, Sigmas, Tamrons and Tokinas - and they all are great!

  • I'm using L-lenses normally (Sigma do actually make some great lenses BTW). However this time I'm NOT focusing on lens-brands in my post. But did anyone spot that these "supposed" professionals shoot with their lens-hood back to front!!! LOL that's baffling; what a load of tosh. Actions speak louder than words and these guys obviously can not tell their back from the front. Learn the basics and apply it before teaching others (so they do not copy your silly mistakes).

  • I am not going to engage in the lens debates or brand debates because I think they are all very good. However I will say that these guys have an unusual mix of professional casualness in their photographic style that is unique and very refreshing.

  • What a great way of showing what wedding photographers do from start to end, you have given me inspiration and great team work...thankyou and well done.

  • canon sucks !!!

  • Fantastic collection.

  • 0:39, rockin' the double chimp.

  • I usually f'ing hate wedding photography/photographers cuz they're usually such garbage. There was a lot of personality in these shots and it didn't hurt that the bride was gorgeous either. Nice. Rare.

  • vERY GREAT SHOTS

  • Interesting video. I really love my Canon cameras, I use 3 of them.

  • Thanks for the video...

  • I don't really care what brand of gear I am using, but I prefer Canon glass. It all comes down to personal preference. It's the vision and the creativity that counts!

  • anyone knows what song's at 2:17 ??

  • U2- Beautiful Day

  • Something different...sick of Hawaii and other beach like settings.

  • ohh my god she needs to learn how to hold a camera!

  • What lenses did you use for this shoot?

    Thanks

  • the point of a lens hood: mount it backwaards on your lens -.-

  • because it makes you look cool... urban, yeah

  • I thought they were used to shoot indoors.

  • great work, congratulations! ;-)

  • so so great...Really Urban

  • how do u achive that kinda faded black effect on the side of the photo at 3:37?

    Thnx

  • It's a vignette. Very easy to add in Photoshop or it can happen when the lens is wide opened and the light coming from the side is confronted with a smaller lens opening than light approaching the lens head-on.

  • You can do that with a flash pointed at the center (diffused) and raise the shutter to reduce the exposure of where the flash didn't reach. But that can also be done easily in PP. with Light Room or Photoshop.

  • @JohnnyBoyzRawr

    probabaly photoshop by viggetin

  • I use L lenses. But I am not narrow minded enough to not acknowledge that sigma make some great lenses. For weddings and ultimately album presentation, sigma are MORE than adequate to produce top results. I have L series glass mostly because of my commercial and studio work.

    Nice vid.

  • +1 Not all Canon top level lenses give a great result. But mostly do.

  • Love the chimping!!

  • I think Ginomolinari is right. important in a lens is to join the wish of the photographer, not the brand,I have not to shot like Canon say,but like my heart move. may be crazymabilly begin to take photos since yesterday, because if know a little more about photography should know taht each lens have a sensation, and each brand follow a standard. Some years before photographers choose Leica summicron if want sharp portrait and Zeiss Planar if want more soft....

  • 1:16 looks creepy

  • I though the same!!!!!!

  • crazymanbilly: 3rd party lenses not for profi-job? dude... Leica lenses ARE 3rd-party lenses and lacking of AF - are those lenses amateur-only? think not!

  • i just dont understand how a professional wedding photographer can rely only on sigma lenses?

  • Sigma lenses are extremely reliable. I had no problems with any of the many I use all the time. I treat them pretty roughly and the have always performed without problems.

If instead you mean that they are cheap and not top quality and a professional should only use canon L glass; well I couldn't disagree more with you. An expensive lens wont make you a better photographer. I'm happy with my images and my lenses. Can you say the same about yours?

  • yes i can say that. im not taling about Canon L lenses only im talking about canon lenses generally. Theyre just made for each other and they give the best result you could get combined a lens with a canon camera. Same with Nikon, you are going tu get best results using same brand lenses on your camera.

Third party lenses mostly are not ment for professional use.

True an expensive lens wont make you better photgrapher, but it will give quality and reliability!

  • You are a troll! Your comments are irrelevant and shallow. Juergen Teller had full page campaigns published on W for Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood that were shot with a point and shoot camera.

Don't talk about quality if you don't know how to achieve it.

  • dumb quetion: what is W? also, can you link me these campains shot with ps camera? i am doing research and would like to include it. thanks and great work! this video is awsome.

  • @ginomolinari66 I'm sry but he is right. Optical Quality of Tokina, Sigma, Tamron and others isn't as good as Nikon's N-serie and Canon's L-serie lenses. That why I can recommend brand lenses, and the build quality is better too.

  • @ginomolinari66 ill tell you one thing, i did a wedding with an entry level camera and kit lens from 4years ago (im a photography student on a budget) and my unedited photos looked better than the photographer with her 7d and L-lens. Point being, you can shoot with any lens and any camera, if you know what you are doing you can make it work.

  • @ginomolinari66 I agree with you on the fact that you can get by on cheaper equipment and if you are good enough, can achieve the same , or even better results than someone with flashy toys. However, the fact remains that you have less limitations on your high end equipment than what you have with generic and cheaper toys,eg ISO to Noise.. That's a fact. Another fact is that calling people names just degrades your argument and lower the level of debate. Accept that people have different views.

  • @ginomolinari66 on that note... could you please be so kind to tell me what mm lenses did you use in this video?

I have a nikon D700 and currently only have a 50mm f1.4D. I am wondering if the ... 85mm f1.4 would be a wise choice for my next lens or should I just go for a 24-70mm f2.8?

    I shoot people.

thanks... btw great video & I admire photographers who CAN use 3rd party lenses and still get great photos (like the ones in this video, DOM BOWER as well)

  • While camera comapanies design their lenses, neither Canon, nor Nikon, nor Sony make their own lenses. If you do your homework, there are only a few lens manufacturers in the world. Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, Cosina and like maybe 1or 2 more. Tamron makes 100% of the Sony lenses and have the best in-lens image stabilization technology on the market. They also make the instruments that the other manufacturers use in their design and testing. Many 3rd party lenses out perform their premium counterpart

  • I can see what hes saying about lens being made for specific brands of cameras. But I use several 3rd party pieces of glass, The Tokina 28-80 AT-X 2.8, Its my favorite lens and It cost me like 350 where as the 24-70 2.8 nikkor will run almost 2k. Believe me Ive shot that lens before and its magic but at 11x14 you will prob never see the difference. And Btw I just sold a 70-200VR to buy the Sigma 70-200HSMII + 85mm 1.4 nikkor. I was a huge believer in only buying nikkor glass until recently.

  • I think it's the photographers eye, and not her tools that makes her a decent photographer, i think these images are amazing btw ginomolinari and i honestly have to disagree with your statements, personally i'm like super against canons, i know some people shoot with them and love them, and there not bad cameras, but i know you can get just as good, or better pictures, with other cheaper cameras and lenses. For the last 4 years a shot with an Olympus e volt e300 with a Zuiko lens of 14-45 mm

  • @crazymanbilly Yeah ok buddy...

  • @crazymanbilly

that's illogical horse shit. You clearly lack the experience and practical understanding to know what you're talking about.

  • @crazymanbilly That's not entirely true, what about Zeiss lenses? They're not Canon nor Nikon lenses, yet they are in most cases better than the "originals". Sigma is underrated and those lenses can give great results, if you know how to use them.

Amateurs care about their equipment, professionals about earning money and the masters-professionals are only concerned about the light. :D

  • i like your attitudes

  • atitudes are the best

  • @crazymanbilly I have a Sigma 30mm f1.4- it's one of the cheapest primes you can buy for a crop sensor but it's super sharp wide open, even right to the edges, no vignetting in sight- I just don't know how I'd get better when I see no room for improvement- it's lovely and fast it rarely gets swapped out for a zoom.

  • @crazymanbilly

check this guys from the philippines

    Charles Nikolas Buenconsejo

he is a very young professional photographer in the philippines, and he won one of the national art competition in photograpy category for 5 years in a row! and he use 2 sigma lens on some of his assignment and personal projects

  • @crazymanbilly Yeah expensive lens doesn't make you a better photographer. In your face bitch.

  • @crazymanbilly I use them and they are great. I own a Nikon and use nikon lenses and as for sigma?, they too are good, so my freind unless you have used them?.. give it a rest.

  • @crazymanbilly Actually I have a sigma 35 1.4 and that lens has lasted longer than some of my Nikon lens they are pretty tough... Troll

  • @crazymanbilly You're lost, CrazyBoyBilly... but keep trying... you may be cool one day =)

  • Love it

  • Awesome. I really like your detail shots, very different.

  • Great video , i can see in this video you 2 photographers work well together

  • es puro cuento

  • 1:16 i see dead people, if i'm groom, i dont want pictures like this one... im scared

  • Don't you know it's bad luck to be superstitious? Seriously though, what are you talking about?

  • ? At the 4:20 mark, did you use a flash when taking the photo of the couple? I know, it seems like a dumb question to ask. Perhaps you were using a fast lens with enough avail. light...I was just wondering.

  • That venue is really dark and even with a fast lens you wouldn't be able to freeze people dancing. I used a Vivitar 285 on a light stand for accent and another with a sync cord, hand held, as my main light.

    Hope this makes sense.

  • Thank you for your response. It was very helpful. Great work by the way.

  • great work.

  • awesome!!! you guys rock my socks!

  • this was such an awesome video and i dont say that about many.

  • I like your pics a lot (:!

  • Great Photos...but what's with the odd way that she's holding her camera?

  • You mean tilting ? " the Dutch Tilt "

  • Good work, good clip!

  • Hi! I have to say I like the style. It is somewhat different from what you'd expect from a wedding shoot. (the urban element, i.e.).

And: Good attitude towards gear: creating something nice with 'cheap' equipment. Although the stories about the Sigma 24-70 and 70-200 are very inconsistent due to Sigma's QC, they are great if you have sharp samples. ! Keep up the good work.

  • is that the non TTL Vivitar 285 h?

and if it is, why do u use it instead of a TTL flash?

    I'm just curious... ;)

  • Yes it is! Love that flash, powerful and super cheap. I use it to fill-in in daylight situations or to darken the sky for portraits. I shoot on manual and TTL is not reliable or consistent. To me, nothing is better than dialing in the right power. I use TTL in situations that are more dynamic and I have no time to make adjustments. Hope this helps

  • Gino...excellent video and insight into what you do. I didn't realize Kansas was that urban (smile). I realize this was posted some time ago...But do you guys do a lot of post processing? And do you use a flash? When? As you can see I'm fairly fairly new to photography and exploring.

  • Haha! Kansas City is actually in Missouri. That area used to be one of the largest meat processing and packing of the country. Now is residence for artist and eclectic people. The video is almost 4 years old (wow, time to update it). We have a pretty tight workflow in Lightroom with our custom presets and we do very little photoshop. Flash guns are used outside to fill in shadows from the sun.

Hope it makes sense to you.

  • great clip!!!

  • nice!

  • Awesome work!...

  • outstanding video! what lens was the woman using? and the gentleman's? thanks!

  • She is mostly using a Sigma 24-70 (OK lens) and a 70-200 (wonderful lens). I'm using a Sigma 12-24 (awesome lens).

  • I swear by my Canon 24-70 L 2.8 lens

  • One of the best wedding photo videos on youtube. I really like the postprocessing, realistic with a lot of pop, that's hard to to. My only beef is sigma lenses yuck! :)

  • Well, I happen to be a Sigma fanatic. I love the idea of creating something good using something cheap. But some sigma lenses are not bad at all. 70-200 is outstanding, 15-30 is stellar, 24-70 not that great but neither is the Canon 24-70.

  • lol

  • I disagree

the canon 24-70 l 2.8 is the best lens available for canon in that range

Yes I use 70-200 Sigma 2.8 too, very slow AF and backfocussing. After one year I am going to swop to Canon only. Superior brand lens! for Canon 5D

  • Hey, whatever works for you man.

  • Lens shade is on backwards

  • I hate when she does that. But then again it was pretty overcast day so no big deal.

  • LOL

  • wow, some really great stuff there. I usually think the artistic or photojournalistic style of wedddings shooting is overdone, but those are some pretty amazing shots. If I'm ever in KC again I'd love to work with that pair!

  • spray painted eye looking at the hanging shoe was very innovative. Nice work.
