Just found this discussion. I was the singer who did the original Christmas Spirit of the Season spot with the New Zion Harmonizers, (I appeared on that as well), and I also did the vocal for the spanish version of the Spirit spot. Those were wonderfully produced spots. By the way, I loved Alison's vocal, and Theresa Andersson did one as well. We should start a club. Take care, Mari Serpas Vigueira
Just realized my name didn't show up there, just my YouTube id ;-) So to give a bit more info, the spot was written by a great Nashville cat named Greg Barnhill, and I was brought in to sing it. All the best, Alison Young
@alisings2u Alison, really? This was you singing this? I grew up loving Channel 4's Spirit of Louisiana. It is one reason why I posted this. Didn't you do other"Spirit of Louisiana" songs as well, like for the holidays or something? Just curious. Thanks for checking out my videos. LostNawlinsNative..............
The Spirit of Louisiana campaign was the brainchild of WWL's marketing director, Dee Joyce. The music if from Stephen Arnold Music in Dallas. The voice on this song is Theresa Andersson, I believe. There were many versions done of this song but in differnt musical genres like zedeco, the blues, a jazzy version, etc.
I'd say you're probably right. You would be in more of a position to know than me. I was in news from 1996-1999.
By the way, I love your promos that you've posted. The Terry Wood WDSU spots really stuck out when I first saw them on the air many years ago. Very creative work, man.
Mari -- great to hear from you. I worked with you briefly at WDSU when you did pieces for the morning show back in '96 or so. Hope all is well.

@LostNawlinsNative, indeed it was me, and this was the only "Spirit of Louisiana" commercial I sang.
I do want to make a correction to what I said about Greg; although he lives in Nashville, he is actually from New Orleans.

Hello folks, in fact the singer on this spot happened to have been me. I'm really glad you liked it as much as I loved singing it. Lots of love!

Paul,
I was always told Mari Serpas sang this one. But I could be way off. Is Dee still at WWL? I left in 1999.

Blaine,
I could be wrong about Theresa, but I think I'm right. Dee is working at the CBS station in San Fran. From 2000-2001, I took her place at WWL.
