  • Between about 2:30 and 3:00 the Fairbairn steam crane of Bristol is visible, emerging from behind the smoke of the train, also working under power.

  • Well, last month two tank engines ran on the mainline around Ironbridge so we could borrow them. That would mean a Swanage to Weymouth Quay service then!

Now that would be a sell out!

  • Yes that would be good.

  • Very interesting clip 5* looks great, why can't Weymouth Quay be reopened for a steam line with street running. The Olympics in 2012 there would thrive with a GWR tank engine and coaches from Didcot. A service from the station to the old quayside terminus would appeal to all the tourist's from around the world. I heard that like Bristol it is planned to use guided busways and trams? Politicians who dont like trains are dangerous. It was once and can be done again. re-arrange the roads.

  • That would be a nice idea but the engines and stock would have to be passed to run on Network Rail.

  • It was September 2006 can't remember the exact date.

  • what date did you go down

  • Nice video 5*

    Thanks for entertaining.

  • Bristol City Council are planning to a new rapid transit guided bus system which will run along this route and I am a little worried about the future of this railway if the transit system goes ahead.

  • It,s a number of years sine I visited the BHR lots of changes Thanks

  • They do this quite regular and even though Bristol Industrial Museum has closed for refurbisment they are still operating trains on the harbourside.

  • I dont know I live in Birmingham so only visited for the day. I included a link in the description to their website.

  • Wow; some excellent stuff Tim! How often does that railway run? Might be tempted to give it a go one day.
