  • Thank You. This music goes stright to my heart.

  • I agree. Elman touch my heart.

  • beutiful...

  • UNSPECTACULARLY Beautiful!

  • In a modern conservatory, any teacher would dismiss this interpretation for 'not holding the phrases together', but this doesn't sound choppy either: the decays in the middle of the phrase are sighs. No one understands that nowadays.

  • A musical gem! Thank you rareviolintreasures for the posting! Yes, it is treasure!

  • how did you trasnscribe the sound from record to digital so well?

  • OMG...my eyes welled up for some unfathomable reason..

  • Oh, this is the best performance of Reverie on YouTube! Thank you for sharing!

  • transcendent, sublime.

  • 5 star.

  • Dear 'rareviolintreasures', Perlman and Oistrakh would rather hear Elman. Kreisler heard Elman in his own playing, something Perlman and even Oistrakh never heard.

There is a human frailty that can only come from a personal experience with real life, nothing can substitute for the Real Thing. There is no 'popular' modern performer who understands this most simple truth: It's not about 'YOU', it's about a deeply personal communion with Truth--Life. Without Truth there can never be ART.

  • @semisavage I agree with your critique of rvt's comments. I have shellac discs from Elman (and Heifetz, and Huberman) which are approaching 100 years of age...they are still gems, and still give pleasure despite all that has been issued over the decades. I've never heard Perlman, or any later artist...simply because I've never gotten past Elman and Heiftez WWI era recordings!

  • @semisavage

    wtf?

  • beautiful

  • ew.

  • marvellus

  • a dream come true literally

  • A personal favorite that I learned many years ago.

  • If you can't be moved my Elman's playing, there's something wrong with your heart, mate.

  • this is very helpful to me, I'm playing this piece well but i guess im missing the happy feeling of this piece.

  • thanks, this is just what i was looking for...
