lo well, it´s easier to learn sea of lies than fatal tragedy. Symphony X has an epic heavy metal feel to them that just makes the songs easir, the drums are the same all the time pretty much, but the bass is better, since john myung doesn´t really care for showin his talent. Learning and playing a Romeo Solo like smoke and mirrors or seven is easier than learning a petrucci solo (but Romeos are more fun to play) but fuck, I like em both

I´m a big fan of symphony x and dream theater really, although (I´m not sure that´s how it´s spelled lol) I have dream in 1st place. Anyway, they´re different types of prog, cuz this stuff has an epic feel to it, the riffs are easire and sometimes heavier but nonetheless sound gr8. Dream theater is more technical of course, and they´re also heavy like on train of thought, the dark eternal night or the glass prison, my favorite song. Still symphonys bitchin xD

You are right, although you can't compare these two. Devin Townsend is better in a different style than our buddy Russel, but Devin does a great deal producing a lot of bands like Zimmer's Hole. Check it out ;)

They just need better management and were also very unwilling to tour for a long time. They have put out some of the best prog rock ever and until a few years ago they all had to have day jobs.

Great rock bands are made not by music alone. These guys deserve better.

Russell Allen sounds kind of Blaze Bayley-esque. The main difference is raspier, better range, and he doesn't sound like he has a cold. But he has kind of a smooth vocal tone.
