I was outraged when I heard of this.

There already was an R 18+ rating established for video about a decade or so age. Now it seems the Government will jump as soon as it sees an R rating.

While I understand about the need to prevent unneccesary exposure to content for a younger audiance, it should not come to putting a blanket ban across others. Its not a question of content, its about persoanl judgement of suitablility.

I should know this because I was a signatory for a pertition conducted to give the video game industry an 18+ rating.

If the concern is for young ones gaining access to 18+ games, why not conduct an ID test for the buyer? If they are under 18, they won't be able to purchase. It should be as simple as that.

Hands down, the graphics are realistic nowadays, and I think the influence of these games on people like you who are still going through extreme mental changes (i.e. puberty) is unpredictable. Playing 'killergames' aren't going to turn someone magically into a killer.
