Ok so Zeitgeist is debunked, I never doubted Jesus as a historical figure, however what is the proof that he was what he has been explained as? The Bible? How many other religions have writings on there messiah or savior? How much trust can you put into anything written by man who claims it is the works of a god?

Christianity isn't saying that we're better than others although yes some people act like that, but you'll find that in any social group athiest, new age, etc. In our belief we are just saying we need a savior to save our souls from the penalty of sin. @gahver In addition, the Apocryphal writings on Jesus were written by unknown people.Keep in mind these people were writing about Jesus one hundred or two hundred years after he lived. So they were not describing the eye witness accounts of Jesus in the 1st century. This is another reason why they are rejected. Then within Apocryphal writings comes historical and geographic inaccuracies and anachronisms.
Also the teaching within these writings contradict the canonical books. (Cont)
@gahver Another thing about the Apocryphal writings is the writers of such books. Impersonate and are dishonest in presenting their writing as written by earlier inspired writers, for example, the gospel of Thomas. Even in the Apocryphal writings some of the writers imply they are not inspired. Look at the Prologue to Ecclesiasticus; 2 Maccabees 2:24-32; 15:38-4 to see that. However, I'm not saying they're worthless, but they are not canonical. Don't believe in conjecture.

@gahver You do realize we have over tens of thousands of manuscripts? So if there any editing or corruption as you propose. Then we would be able to easily spot those changes. For example say we have 20 manuscripts.17 of them says we say no one shall be awarded. The other 3 says no one who defiles shall be awarded. You obviously could spot which one is correct since the large majority of the manuscripts support the manuscripts that say no one shall be rewarded.

@gahver In addition, the Apocryphal writings on Jesus were written by unknown people.Keep in mind these people were writing about Jesus one hundred or two hundred years after he lived. So they were not describing the eye witness accounts of Jesus in the 1st century. This is another reason why they are rejected. Then within Apocryphal writings comes historical and geographic inaccuracies and anachronisms.

@gahver Another thing about the Apocryphal writings is the writers of such books. Impersonate and are dishonest in presenting their writing as written by earlier inspired writers, for example, the gospel of Thomas. Even in the Apocryphal writings some of the writers imply they are not inspired. Look at the Prologue to Ecclesiasticus; 2 Maccabees 2:24-32; 15:38-4 to see that. However, I'm not saying they're worthless, but they are not canonical. Don't believe in conjecture.

@gahver You do realize we have over tens of thousands of manuscripts? So if there any editing or corruption as you propose. Then we would be able to easily spot those changes. For example say we have 20 manuscripts.17 of them says we say no one shall be awarded. The other 3 says no one who defiles shall be awarded. You obviously could spot which one is correct since the large majority of the manuscripts support the manuscripts that say no one shall be rewarded.
