It was June ’66 when I visited Chet Powers at his apartment in Berkeley. Members of Moby Grape, Jefferson Airplane, and the Dead were there for a birthday celebration. Recall playing this song with Chet, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Jack Cassady, Jorma, and Grace. Right after, he was busted for weed, spent ~4 years away from us. Chet, eventually joined the Quick Silver Messenger Service. We experienced a special spiritual bond playing this song that I’ve rarely felt since or before… a masterpiece.
What is wrong with this aging generation? Nothing! As there was not then. We have TWO wars waging, dollars! Don't kid yourselves. Walk on part though now. The little kid at the end of this vid says it all! Peace on Earth now, then and tomorrow.
Right after 9-11 this song was on a list of banned songs that the big radio station conglomerate Clearchannel sent to all its stations. It seems that a song about love and peace didn't fit in while we were beating the war drums. Wars make lots of money for corporations like Clearchannel.
if they played this in schools or workplaces nowadadys people wouldn't know what to thinki''''
when this song came out in had a meaning.... these days there is to many guns and to much violence on city streets by wannab drugdealers and wannab hoodlums.....
if these people now adays heard this there would b a change in the way this world is going
@AdamsSeed this song was written by dino valenti there is no such person as chet powers its just a name the publisher stuck on the music when they bought the song from dino for next to nothing
...I Just wanted to add, if I may (I am an Evangelist)...for anyone watching this to Please get a New King James Bible (accuracy and readability)...Look Up Matthew 5:1-12; then Rev. 3:7-13 (Philadelphia Blessing) - then 1John 4:17-21. After this...REPLAY! HIGHEST BLESSINGS! AMEN!
if you close your eyes and listen, you can relive that wonderful moment! we were all so free. I wish I can stop there on my way out , at least just for a sec .
@RJBism bullshit, this is the greatest era, you just have a lot of crap to filter. Go to some psychedelic open air and listen, dance, whatever. Don´t watch tv, don´t read magazines,, yes and take drugs, because that´s why the music produced was so good.
Weren't we boomers lucky! We had the best music, we let go of a lot of hangups, we reached out to others, we did effect positive change in some very realy ways. I am proud to say I a most assuredly a "Baby Boomer." One of my favorite songs. Thank you so much for this absolutely great song.
After this they all went home got a shave and shower and went to work for Sears and Penny's because even hippies have to pay rent :)

THIS. This is why the Elites have destroyed the music industry.
It unites the 99%. But with Artists like Lil Wayne and Justin Beiber people lose sight of what is important.
