I do not have an activated Rogers SIM, not sure if one is needed, but I am using pc suite 6.81.13.0 and nss 1.0.38.14. When I scan I get "error" in the lower left. Any ideas?

if your with t mobile you dont need to do this because you fetures arent locked

how ever rogers locks many features for this phone and try making you pay for you to get them do ing this would no harm your phone or do anything to your bill all it does is unlock the features

Thanks worked like a charm, however if you do not uninstall the Nokia PC suite, when you scan for your phone you will keep getting the error message. Again thanks.

p.s. Has anybody thought of a class action suit against Rogers for bundling and proprietary software.

I was originally getting the error when I pressed the scan button in the software, but then I switched to a different USB port and it worked first try.

Also after unbranding the phone my # key no longer switches it to silent mode. Anyone know how to reset that?

I am also having the same problem as thirst - after the process;the phone will not stay on. It turns on; goes through the Nokia animation then the cellular company animation; then it shuts off. Is there any way to hard reset this phone? Perhaps the problem is newer versions of this phone don't support this process?

i still havent got around to finding out how i can get it fixed but i am thinking its the battery.

because the battery life on the 5300 is so bad, i think its worn out and needs to be replaced.

follow the last steps carefuly near the end of the video when you use NSS. Also remove the battery for a few minutes to reset the phone if it doesn't work..

go to 'add or remove programs' in your control panel and delete nokia pc suite.

The zip contains the exe file you need. This works great, although the Rogers shutdown screen still displays.
