  • Humanity is at stake or about to be lost: There too few men and many more CARPETCRAWLERS that lick up high and kick who's down: this is the world as we lost it.

    Fare well. Amen.

  • How can someone who's screen name is "philcollinsuk" consider this "beautiful"?? It does, indeed, fucking blow, btw...

  • I WANT PETER, MY LOVE!

  • Beautiful? Not really. Sorry, my ears are aching!

  • no carpet crawl ,without Peter Gabriel.

  • Genesis post-Gabriel:

"It's more important for us to make money, than it is to make art."

  • withour Peter gabriel is this version only a half - Carpet crawl =peter gabriel

  • @TheHO1964 YOU SAY IT !!! SO TRUE!!!

  • Awful. Thank God Punk came and erased these wankers from the music scene. Peter Gabriel was Ok though.

  • Oh dear...................Phil just couldnt be bothered to have a couple of backing singers to hold him on higher tones.......................false...............etto. Well that sums up genesis post Wind and Wuthering ( Shite and meaningless )

  • In the 'Archive', Anthony Phillips gets credits on two Lamb songs: 'Chamber' and 'Anyway'.

  • Phil wrote nothing until 'Duke'. I don't think that they sold out. It's not as if they needed the money, but I'm sure that their talents could have been put to better use.

  • Gabriel has written quality music for years since Genesis, whereas the rest did two excellent Genesis albums, Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering, after he left, Hackett did a few good and mixed solo albums, and the other three...well, of that of which we cannot speak, let us remain forever silent.

  • Gabriel wrote about a quarter of the music before the Lamb, on which he wrote two songs and other bits here and there. He had intended to write the lot but acknowledged that the others kept coming up with ‘great musical ideas’.

He also wrote vocals over what might have ended up instrumentals on the Lamb, which caused some discontent. On the other hand, he also wrote the ‘666’ vocal on Supper’s Ready, which an initially sceptical Banks described as ‘incredibly strong’.

  • What an awful version. Nothing compare to the old one.

  • Earler Genesis was mostly about the musical composition, not the lyrics so much. Gabriel did not contribute much to the music, but he did with the lyrics. Banks and Rutherford were the REAL masterminds behind the earlier-era Genesis, not Gabriel.

When Gabriel left, Genesis became even more popular. The first 2 albums after Gabriel left, were in fact, very progressive and true to their earlier stuff, although a bit different. They proved that Gabriel wasn't the band by himself.

  • When people keep saying that Phil (and Tony and Mike) sold out, I laugh. I laugh because had they not gone more commercial, next to nobody would have ever heard of Genesis and discovered their earlier music. When I first heard Genesis, it was Follow You, Follow Me and I didn't even know who sang it until the Duke album came out. That's when I got familiar with Genesis. Then, I heard about earlier stuff they put out and went back album by album to the earlier stuff. So don't slag Phil!

  • Manejaron muy bien su propia metamorfosis como banda. Estoy de acuerdo en que Peter Grabiel aportó una gloria diferente, pero también hay muy buena música post Gabriel. Salud!

  • There was no Genesis post Gabriel...

  • WOW, THIS VIDEO KILLED THE SONG COMPLETLY. SHAME ON THE OWNER

  • yes - we can

  • Looki at him ,he was in pain.

  • I love the Phil version of Seconds out, is much better for me than Gabriels Foxtrot.

But the video`s day Phil had a bad night.

  • I'm sorry, but even though Phil Collins isn't a bad singer, Peter Gabriel just fits this song better. I don't care that other people wrote the song or whatever, but I first heard Gabriel singing the album, and it doesn't sound right with anyone else filling in.

  • Listen to yourselfs folks, you are like children in a playground, GROW UP!!!

  • Tobycat,yu damn asswipe,,,Peter Gabriel..just a fucking frontman??????ya,,,,ok,,,,,,,,,,without the theatrical brilliance and great passionate voice ,they were nothing,,,,,without mighty pete and i know yu fellow tubers support me,,,,,,

  • Banks and Rutherford wrote 90% of the material in the Gabrial days. Gabriel contributed some lyrics, + some flute playing. I saw the Trick of The Tail tour, you didn't or you would know how passionate Phils performance was, and how Trick Of The Tail is more of a follow up to "England BTP" than the Lamb. Maybe dig the shit out of your ears and actually listen to the next 3 Gen. disks after the Lamb, then Compare to Pete's WEAK 1st 3 records... The truth will become disturbingly clear to you.

  • @aprilmorrison000 no kidding, this vodeo NEEDS to be titled collins- carpet crawlers.

  • Peter Gabrial cry babys aren't Real Genesis Fans or they would know Banks and Rutherford were the song/music writers during the Pete days. Peter little more than a front man, Collins in the role of conductor, they ALL say Collins was the best musician in the band. Why were the Genesis albums Trick of the Tail, Wind and Wuthering, and ATTWThree prog masterpieces ESPECIALLY compaired to Gabrial's weak, pop, easy listening solo material? Rael worshipers are morons, not Genesis fans.

  • i agree with everything you are saying.. there is no point argueing seeing as we all like the same band instead of most of the crap music out there today.

of course they were way better with collins but with gabriel i think alot of the songs were still listenable and even still better than nearly any other band.. better tho when gabriel era songs were done by collins like carpet crawlers and i know what i like

  • How could Gabriel have played with Genesis in 1982??? Was this a guest appearance that you witnessed??? He left the group in approx. 1976 I thought

  • @tbart4 I think that he was refering to the reunion show they did with Pete in 82 at Milton Keyes. Pete left in 75.

  • I am greateful to Phil, Mike and Tony for continuing with the band. Because without them I would not have stumbled upon the earlier works of Gabriel that have left me spellbound for so many years. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway remains the best album ever made. I saw Gabriel with the band in 82, and it was simply the best gig ever.

  • @dowdalli That must have been a great experience in 1982, because that will never happen again due to Phil's spinal injury.

  • @dowdalli hey dude. The Lamb is my fav too :)

  • @dowdalli Did you see the reunion w/ Gabriel?? I saw the original line up in '75...I'll never forget it...one of the best nights of my entire life!

  • @dowdalli lucky you

  • Phil... please, go back to your drums

  • Phil sucks at this when compared to Peter.

  • @larkydozer, not really, he has a smoother voice and stays in pitch better than Peter (even Peter says so) Also, I was a Genensis fan before the badly produced, and sloppily played "Lamb" which is brilliant in it's own way, but "Trick of the Tail" sounds more like a continuation of the quality songwriting, production, and playing a lot of us expected after Nursery Crime, Foxtrot, and England by the pound. Peter's 1st few records are WEAK compared to Trick of the Tail, and Wind and Wuthering

  • I don't care about Phil's pitch. Phil is Phil and he sucks at this.

Maybe you could provide some evidence of the "sloppily played" passages within the "Lamb" record?

I don't care what Peter thinks of Phil's technique. I'd rather hear Peter struggle .... and succeed in expressing his passion than hear the soft rock king Phil Collins try it.

  • Larky, NO one could have taken Peter's place better than Phil who all along had been doubling the vocal work with Pete on A LOT of Genesis studio material. I know Genesis fans who say PETER is the one who sold out for music much easier to create, pop music, and easy listening. The writing is better on Foxtrot, the writing, playing, and recording quality better on England B T P and Trick of the Tail.

  • I knew you could provide the evidence that I asked for.

Phil is a pop sellout. Fact.

The playing on the older records is actually a bit sloppy compared to "Lamb"... especially the drumming.

  • how many versions does it give from the song?

    collins,wilson,gabriel?

  • Ok .. lets calm down

    Peter G was brill

I think Genesis were ok up till 3 sides live

    After that .. non

You have to remember that on the Lamb lies down that the keyboards and drums were pivital - so lets not dumb down those guys.

Genesis where wonderful with Peter G but when they all went their separate ways they all lost a little something of the magic pixie dust

I also think Phil's 'in the cage ' on 3 sides live was great in a different way to Peter G ... which was great too

  • Sounds tired...

  • It was always inane when the hairy dwarf took over.........out of his depth literally

  • @teddingtontcu, I've been a concert going Genesis fan since Nursery Crime, your wrong, and you've missed out on enjoying some of this bands best material and performances due to the idiotic Gabriel worship.

  • Genisis was Peter Gabriel, a drummer with a good voice wasn't. Please listen to Foxtrot. Ready for Supper? Your Lamb ready?

  • Little fact, after And Then There Were Three, when the three remaining members of Genesis decided to "change direction" they wanted to change there name, but the label wouldn't let them. Genesis would have remained a nearly perfect memory...

  • peter gabriel was better...they try to keep something that..without gabriel and hackett, is definitly dead...

  • I respect your opinion but disagree.....They did some great stuff after PG left, namely ATOTT, one of their best albums, with or w/o PG, IMHO. It's in the ear of the beholder. You either like their later stuff or you don't. The band evolved and their sound changed...like all bands.

  • Genesis... before and after PG... the best and the worst... why try keep alive something dead?

  • the sell out tour...

  • Great Phil great...but the emotion of Peter while was singing this song....

  • Phil is the best. Great singer, great drummer. Made Genesis succesfull in the 80 with great songs. (with rutherford and banks of course, but still)

    Thank you mr. Collins.

I liked Gabriel a lot better after he went solo.

  • The best drummer ever: Phil Collins!

But the greatest singer, Performer, Texter and Musician:

    Peter

  • Phill collins also did a great job with genesis although his lyrics doesn´t have comparison with peter gabriel ones, the music of those song is excellent, songs that i like of phill collins era: squonk, ripples, los endos, your own special way, behind the lines, duchess, and many others but i think that in the 80´s he commercialized genesis and he started to do pop songs that doesn´t have relation with the work that they had done on the 70´s

  • What makes you think it was Phil?

  • Damn you, Phil Collins. Damn you to hell.

  • Seems like on this tour--they were just going thru the motions--no heart

  • phil had just got the definitive report on the loss

of his hearing and their were rain problems

w/ this show knowing they were going to film

it for dvd -- a lot of tension they said on a bbc

    interveiw later on

  • Phil has sung this song far better in the past. I think I don't like this one because it sounds as if the've stepped it down a key or two. Doesn't really work.

  • True Genesis fans appreciate every incarnation of the band.

"Genesis" was an interesting group of teenagers, and they are an interesting group of older guys.

Simply thankful for as much music as we got (and continue to get) out of them all.

    Thanks Genesis.

  • You said it!!!!

  • @mjamielamb Peter Gabriel's lineup from Trespass to Lamb and Phil Collins lineup are completely different musically genres. They are drastically different ***bands*** who happen to share the same name and some of the band members.

So no you don't have to appreciate everything to be a fan. I can understand people who like prog and were turned off by genesis because by the 1980s they had turned into a pop rock band.

It is a silly concept that to be a fan you have to like *everything*.

  • @mjamielamb "True Genesis fans appreciate every incarnation of the band." Bullshit

You don't have to be a drone to like Genesis. That is so childish to say that you need to like EVERYTHING.

They are my fav band but I hate hate hate their work later on in the 80s and 90s.

  • @mjamielamb

Uh, no - True Genesis fans appreciate when they were innovators and creators of something artistically wonderful - not progenitors of mindless pap, as they were after 1980. Tolstoy didn't go from writing War and Peace to writing for DC comics - and if he had he wouldn't have been praised for 'staying relevant'.

  • show some fucking respect for collins you bunch of wanks. I admire Gabriel as much as you guys do but for fucks sake, he was egoistic to go out on his own. It was his choice to do it. Phil did an awesome job after peter left.

  • Three words: We can't dance.

  • Btw, that wasn't a pro-Phil comment.

  • i will fight every last one of you.

  • We love you PETER the only ONE !

  • agreed!!!!!!!

  • One Question - Where is Peter..?? Sit down Phil, drum stool for you.. best place I think.

  • Shite. Gabriel's the only man fit to sing this song...

  • Well, they have played this much better with Phil before.

  • genesis died many moons ago. this is total bollocks. they play shit and theres about as much enthusiasm as a dying sloth. why do they bother?

  • probably the worse thing i ever heard... man where's peter...

  • He isn't capable. His voice has changed too much from his Genesis days.

  • I say good for them. They are great artists, geniuses, actually, and it's nice of them to treat us to this lovely tour, after all this time without one. (I am extremely lucky, as, being a veeeerry young fan of this type of music, this is probably the only chance I'd have gotten, ever to see them...) So, I saw the Montreal show. Fantastic. If only they'd keep going now...

  • Nothing sad about making lots of money no matter how effing old you are sunshine! ;-)Loads of money!

  • Yeah O.K thats true.

  • Very talented OLDER men making money by continuing to entertain!

  • @Scarecrow901 old men better than you

  • Why is Phil dressed like a Priest? He looks weird.

  • Fucking shit! I mean the quality of the video.

  • Ah you were there and you did a professional shoot of the concert. Any chance you can post your efforts smart ass?

  • da brividi.... no comments !

  • ...che poi si scrive Carpet Crawlers...

  • io c'eroooooooooooooo W i Genesis e Roma ! :D:D

  • saw them last night in Chicago and the concert was incredible, amazing. The best concert in my life..... I love GENESIS

  • nice camera shot...would like to see them here in Canada

  • I was there and genesis were fantastic (stef)

  • EU FUI !

  • I'm looking for Bunghole Crawlers but didnt find it

  • hahhaha yes, people tend to be overdramatic... but to be fair, the title should be "Carpet crawlers"

  • this is not turn it on again,

    it's THE CARPET CRAWLERS shit!!!!!

  • Genesis Turn It On Again Tour Brains! God, some people have to have everything explained evan something so obvious.

  • non è turn it on again ma la un miliardo volte meglio CARPET CRAWL
