do we have to all this bullshit ?!!! i'd rather to stand up n get that damned reciever's remote n change ur channel n listen to some musiccccsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
plz plz help , every time i open irreco its loading 5 sec and then it just closes i tried deleting and installing again but there was no point i cant open it ((((
its a great app, unfortunatly, can't get it to work on my sony Bravia, I watched another video, says that I can pick a model number close to my model for remote, I did that, still didnt work, any suggestions, I appreciate any help, thanks
same as below. Irreco backend error. i try to 'sudo /etc/init.d/lirc start' but it brings back 'config file contains no valid remote control definition' please help.
Also, since the development of Irreco has been (and will be, I'm afraid) very quiet recently, we'd suggest N900ers to have a look at QtIrreco. Search YouTube for "QtIrreco for N900 tutorial".
It seems to work fine from 5 or 6 meters. Longer distances might work, haven't tested (yet). One remote has only one page for buttons but you can create multiple remotes for same device and you can switch easily between them. So that's kind of a hack to achieve it.

what can i do if my device is not in the LircDB list????
gpower88 2 years ago
There are ways to record remotes. E.g. with Lirc via a laptop's IR receiver or via an external IR (trans)ceiver. Not possible, AFAIK, with an N900.
Scroogle or whatever is your friend if you haven't got the gear.

Should be fixed now.

irreco backend error
internal lirc
code: 1
can not open socket
jecki007 2 years ago
Got it. download 'rootsh' from extras repo. then open xterminal. type 'sudo gainroot' hit enter. type '/etc/init.d/lirc start' hit enter. then try.

Does this app work in portrait mode?
djlarrikin 2 years ago
This application doesn't have portrait mode.
Although one could make button images for portrait view the IR port placement would make actual use very challenging.

what model televison did you use? and was there any additional hardware besides the n900 and the tv?
knk4eva01 2 years ago
If I recall correctly the tv was some old ViewSonic.
And no extra hardware were used, just n900 and tv.
This (proof of consept) was also tested with newer +40" Sony telly.

Does N900 even have a IR port? It says no on the official published specifications . I confused

Infrared port:Yes

This comment has received too many negative votes show
too many steps. Too typical Maemo application.

Why on the top right corner of the phone its written "N00" instead of N900? Is this a clone?
JeReMiZ 2 years ago
It's a n900 prototype

how powerfull is the signal of the N900, because in the video you aim rather close to the tv. Will it work also from 2 meters or so?
And can you set multiple pages for the buttons or are you limited to 1 page for all your buttons?

Nice program, sure want it after i get my n900!
However i noticed that your battery got drained fast. The video started at 8:45 am with about 3/4 battery left.
At the end, at 11:00 am it looks like it´s only 1/4 battery left. Is the battery so bad in the n900 or does the app drain heavy on the battery?

Video is recorded at separate days. Notice finger/stylus change.
