I had problems with this movie. The script goes on about 30 to 40 minutes too long and spoils the impact of the first 2 hours. I didn't personally like the production design. I realise what they were going for visually, but I didn't find it engaging. Cruise and Morton were good, as were the rest of the cast. There are some really strange lapses in logic in terms of events and character movitations. Not in any way a BAD movie, but disappointing.
Avatar hate left and right. It is really pretentious at this point. Okay, Avatar was not a storytelling masterpiece of originality. But it was so visually and technically compelling. So enough hate please...
Perhaps you can do better. I await your film with great anticipation. Roughly $2 billion box office. I know, that doesn't matter. Only art house Oscar bait films made on shoestring budgets are any good I suppose. The Film Industry is a business first. And no other film has done better business. But alas, it's all personal taste. But for millions around the world, Avatar tasted pretty good.
All popular and successful things receive the most hate(Apple, Nintendo, Michael Bay), I get it. It just gets annoying at some point and comes off sounding like envious insecurity.
I don't really know how anyone can claim this is the worst movie they've ever seen or lazily label it as terrible. Stop being an uneducated hater. Meaning, don't jump to irrational conclusions, like hating it simply because Tom Cruise is in the movie. You some reasoning and save the unsubstantial insults for Twilight.
it's a decent movie but overrated in my opinion. It has a really ugly look, even though some of the futuristic stuff was interesting. There is almost no sense of humor. It's just not much fun to watch. That said it does have an interesting and clever plot.
A.I. for example was a lot deeper and more beautiful to look at.
@arasace - Inception wasn't the last decade. That was 2010. Avatar, on the other hand, was 2009, so it was. Even still, you can argue that stuff like A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Children of Men, District 9, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or WALL·E was still better.
@onepurpose315 True everyone list inception as one of the best of the decade, but 2010 isn't even apart of the 2000's. I mean is 2000 considered apart of the 90's. i don't get it. :)
@olqutseg That's funny, because I think that Jurassic Park ended WAY too abruptly, especially in comparison to the original novel.
And "the woman pre-cog" has been in LOTS of stuff since "Minority Report". In the years since, Samantha Morton has been Oscar-nominated for "In America" and also appeared in acclaimed films like "Synecdoche, NY" and "Elizabeth: the Golden Age".
Sci-Fi movies often take place in the future, or in alien worlds. But the best ones make an attempt to force us to look at ourselves as human beings, in my own opinion of course. And non Sci-fi / Fantasy lovers just don't get it.
the movie is ok but there are some parts like when he catches the guy who he thinks killed his son are emotionally wrenching...the movie is very dark from the very beginning when that guy is going to kill his wife with scissors...its like a horror movie
@tigerjonn I agree. This movie comes on tv all the time and I watch it. One of my favorite Tom Cruise movies. Outside of that, the visuals displays in the movie are top noch!!!!!
i loved this movie....as much as i hate spielberg and all the hoopla around him....this movie was brilliant, infact the only psy fi ( if that is how u spell that) movie that i liked...my only problem was the week ending...
I'm not too fond of Inception. Felt like a gimmick film made by a college student who just discovered metaphysics.

I thought Tom Cruise told Jamie Foxx that he DOESN'T have to KNOW somebody to kill them

You're a goddamn idiot, Samantha Morton HAS done movies after this, and is in fact one of the most respected actresses around today.

They are making this film seem better than it is.
It's ok, but it is very heavily flawed. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
