The reason that our corporations are hurt by global competition is that the current labor and environmental restrictions make it impossible to offer the product at a competitive price. There was a time and a place for labor unions, but the pedulum has swung too far in that direction.
I know that alot of people hate the evil corporations and that nasty word "profit," but without the company, there is no job. Poor people don't create jobs.
WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United Brotherhood of Carpenters announced today that it will endorse Senator John Edwards in the Democratic Presidential Primary. "Our endorsement is based on the Senator's outspoken support for all of organized labor and his focus on America's working families," said Carpenters President Douglas J. McCarron.
Great video! I find the edited shifts in perspective of him standing at the podium distracting, though -- I'd personally prefer one static shot of him, intercut with the footage of the workers. I guess it adds energy, but it's just not my personal taste.
As senator he voted for every free trade bill that hit the floor, with the exception of Chili. He voted to give China favored nation status - that killed more American jobs than anything. Now, he wants to protect them? Be careful with Edwards, America. He is slick talking but can't deliver. I am from North Carolina, I know.
By that standard your choices would be limited to Duncan Hunter, Ron Raul and Kucinich (who missed a vote so his fair trade rating is below the first two). I think campaign commitments precede presidential initiatives. Even if Bush wasn't necessarily a Christian right candidate, he made those commitments during the campaign and had to stick to them.
I have met and spoken w/ John Edwards more than a few times. He is authentic as well as being the only one to speak straight. He is the ONLY card we have in the fight against Corporate America.

Ok, good question and video. What can you propose to really handle the number of American jobs lost to foreign options, but still protect trade.

More political posturing from the breck girl.
