I like this version of The Last Farewell......when he gets to the verse..."more dearly than the spoken word can tell" for the first time at 1:22.....the word "more" is sung 1 octave lower than the rest of the verse.....I love this version.....listen to others, not the same. Any info on this version??
Yeah, I'm gonna get hammered for this but I found "Farewell" to be one of the most annoying records of '75. Long nights working a 7-11 and the radio the only company, this self-important and grandiose ballad made April, May & June seem never-ending. Whittaker sounding so fatally full of himself you wondered if only an emergency high colonic would save his life. But, no, it wasn't the worst record of the year - Morris Albert's "Feelings" was on deck to steal the crown.
What I have here was made with transistors or IC's. Transistor driven electronics sound better than those with IC's.
Analog sound does have advantages over digital. It's not sampled and compressed. Digital recordings can come very close to analog quality by using a very high sampling rate (higher than audio CD quality).
It's so cool how, after many years, I easily remember every detail of the sounds of both sides that I heard a million times in '75 (Tyler, TX at age 10). I wouldn't want to hear any other recordings but these.
The first song is truly very romantic and also i like this PIONEER turntable, good quality with bass sound this delivers from a very well estimated record that is 30 someting years old!!
The Pioneer is almost as old as the record, too. It may be working very well, but it's getting worn. I have seen one in a flea market for $50. That's more than when I got mine from eBay. But I have patience. I might find another good one at a good price. Or it could be different... as long as it has the sound quality like my Pioneer.

@TheSugarvamp Maybe as good as eating at Pizza Planet.
(If you've seen "Toy Story" you would know what I'm talking about.)

Sounds better than digital. These warm mechanical and tube driven electronics just cannot be reproduced.
