I love this song. Does anyone know where it is from? I know it is from "Tales of the City," but was there a musical made from that or is this a stand alone piece?
@deusabscondidum The Seattle Men's Chorus sang a work based on the stories of "Tales of the City", in which this piece stood out as the most popular. Pretty much every gay chorus has sang it in the past 8 years.
In June of 2011, American Conservatory Theater will be debuting a musical based on Tales of the City - but this won't be part of it (to the best of my knowledge)
yes, i was there at the renaissance city choirs performance last saturday. they did a great job. TCGMC had sung this as part of our 25th Anniversary season "Great Southern Sing-Out Tour" through five cities in six days in July of 2006. we were the first gay organization to perform on the historic ryman theater stage. three bus loads of chorus members and supporters traveled from Tennessee, to Birmingham, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; and New Orleans, Louisiana
My own "coming out" letter was based on Mouse's. This performance is very touching.

Our chorus performed this in 2001. I still can't get through it without crying. This is beautiful.
