  • What an idiot!!

  • the shark was being curious... otherwise his arm would be GONE

  • Cojone...

  • that'll leave a nice scar for the ladies

  • IDIOT!

  • where is the fucking steel protection suit,? oooohhh let me guest ,we are in cuba my friend ! and this fucking guy is out of his mind for doing that with no protection at all,and then that other guy just filming and not doing nothing to help ,,,what an fucking idiot

  • wow that was crayz poor guy little bit stupid but gd show

  • If the sharks attacked him, theres really nothing he could do, if he swims up fast he'd just be a bigger target for them. Also if he goes up too fast his lungs could rupture since hes using scuba gear, you can't surface too quickly or else all the air in your lungs will collapse it =P

  • Owowowowow.....a large chunk

  • epic fail

  • ESE EN MY FRIEND DIEPA SANTA LUCIA BEACH

  • get out of the water already!!!! The shark is smelling your blood! Whats the holdup? And yeah, why is this dude so calmly still filming when a shark has just attacked you? How sick is that?

  • @AnahitaDam

They have to maintain a healthy ascent rate and even this is pretty fast. They also skipped the safety stop. Ascending at the speed that you would like would probably render the diver with even far more serious complications than this shark bite!

  • Teasing a bullshark is so freaking stupid... they're the most aggressive shark ever! come on!

  • Another good reason not to feed sharks

  • @alderbaran1 that is so screwed up but so funny

  • never play whid sharks !

you know what happend next . . .

  • never play whid the sharks !

you know what happend next . . .

  • He was lucky that he didn't loose his arm. He was loosing a lot of blood.

  • I guess coming up next "santa lucia cuba shark accident 2' Bull shark finally rip of the arm.

  • OMG that was one of the most frightening things I have ever seen. Kudos for Dieppa's courage but I think I'll just watch any kind of sharks from my laptop.

    I hope he healed well!

  • The Travel Channel is looking to find the person who filmed this and the person bitten by the shark. Is Dieppa his name? If anyone has a way to get in touch with him, please get back to me. ***THANKS***

  • @ryan90069 ...ryan try to see santa lucia. shark accident. j. diepa 2...my email dieppasub@riohuach.com..thanks

  • ouch!

    what a silly idea!!

why didn`t he put the dead fish in his string or attached it to his head...

must have hurt...maybe he learned from the pain?

  • uuuuh.. dumb?

    .

  • he was POWND!! ^^

  • wow... some people are stupid

  • the dumb ass free lancer shouldnt be trying to take pics and feed sharks at the same time

  • got lucky that shark didnt get horny with the blood,,,

  • the guy just wanted a scar bit by shark? than he would say like i survived the accident! the shark was as big as a ship! LOL. so silly.

  • this is jose (aka pepe in Mexico). Originally from Cuba,he's a dive instructor in Akumal now and is fine with a hard core scar on his arm. I just met him and he was my dive instructor last week. An extremely nice and humble man and as others have written readily admits it was a stupid move. He's fine and an incredible instructor.

  • Yup very stupid move he teased the shark by pulling away instead of feeding him and it gsve him a little nick... no biggy it could have ripped him apart... if it chose to.

  • I start wiht Dieppa recording that in september 1990, yes is dangerous I know the place and we do it about 15 times with out accident. Any way shark always are SHARKS.....

  • you never get to see what happens after in these kinds of videos do you? anyways i dont think i would bother with a deco stop if my arm was ripped to pieces in shark 'infested' waters.

  • Cuba Santa Lucia para siempre

    Sharc Friends

  • Hands off Sharks!

  • complimenti....

  • His computer is screaming at him for going up too fast.

  • he was at say 20 metres .. there is no requirement for decom on a single tank .. avoiding air embolism requires you NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH while ascending .. just breathe normally .. no biggy .. just don't you dare HOLD your breath .. otherwise ascend as fast as you humanly possibly can .. 100 mph if you could. Short rapid breaths at that speed. No good physiological reason for a slow ascent under these circumstances .. except to appear calm to the shark. And DATS it. No decom consideratons.

  • you are correct! he should be worried about bleeding out before he gets to proper medical attention. most dive computers are designed to be ultra conservative on your assent rate. 60 ft per min is normal in the navy. dive computers in the civilan world are around 35-40 ft per min. that is why his alarm is going crazy. Decompression is the least of his worries. If the shark hit his axillary artery, he is in deep s----. no one knows how long the boat ride is to the hospital?

  • @PigsCanFly99

I was diving at this very same site twice. It's a wreck near 3 all-inclusive resorts and there are bullsharks at 25 meters deep. You will descent near the shore while following a slope. On both occasions my Suunto computer told me that I had exceeded no-deco limits. I didn't like it at all as water temperature was only 24 celcius so I was freezing but had to observe decompression times. At that point I didn´t care about the sharks anymore, I just wanted to get out.

  • it's a bullshark... dnt ever tease them! It's like the pitbull of the sea; might seem totally docile at one instant, but will completely lose it at next for no obvious reason!

  • sharks can see very far under water but they have problems to recognize stuff by sight on close range. Then they use their ampulae lorenzini which detect electrical signals which are produced by every muscle in every being.

And if one baites a shark so he comes to close to use its eyes and has to rely an the electrical field: voi-là ons has created an accident

  • that is true. the shark did what he is supposed to do. eat! if we keep conditioning these sharks on these shark dives, to associate humans with food, we will make it worse for us humans!!! I actually went on one in the Bahamas. Mostly reef sharks, but a

16 ft hammer head came in to feed and that changed the day. someone will die on one of these and it will not be the sharks fault.

  • He asked for it teasing the fish in that way. He's lucky the shark didn't bite through those itty bitty speedos and have his cock off

  • @Tusker1970 why live life like you i prefer waring a speedo thong and getting my balls bite off than sitting judging people

  • yeah, it was the size of the food! Yeah right! sharks do kill and consume humans. This is not myth. Bull sharks do more than what is reported. do not believe me, go diving off Somalia or Diego Garcia! Rule number one, sharks eat whatever when they are hungry.

  • your an idiot, get your head out of the media and do some research.

  • yeah, you are the brillant one! I guess the bull sharks that killed the kite surfer off florida this week mistaked him for a prey animal they normally eat? yeah I am the idiot who actually lived the life, made deep dives all over the world and seen more types of wild sharks than you can imagine. Sharks are opportunity feeders period!!! I am not anti shark idiot. I am anti idiot teaching the world that sharks just are lovely creatures that mistake prey items. .

  • but they didnt eat him did they? They had every oppertunity didnt they? They are much stronger than he was, so they couldve just eaten him in no time at all. If youve been with sharks underwater, and youve never been eaten or bitten then that just proves that sharks do not just eat anything and everything they can.

  • and that is your scientific proof that sharks do not eat people for food? ever hear of the USS Indianapolis? I guess not! Those White Tips, Bulls(Whalers) , and tigers just mistook those sailers in the water for their natural food source? Sharks are garbage disposal units period! watched personally in the Indian Ocean, a large shark eat a plastic garbage bag with Macaroni and cheese in it. If you are that convinced of your theory, go swimming off

    Somolia. I will watch!

  • Damn that's crazy...

I've seen people feeding sharks by hand and they never got injured...Dunno why this unlucky guy got "tasted"....maybe because he wasn't wearing any suit ?

I dont think he did any mistake with the food...He's releasing it off screen but the shark still go for his arm....nasty shark.

  • are you ppl dumb or what shark does not attack human. you can dive with them with many scuba diving program

  • I seemed to recall reading somewhere a shark can sense a drop of blood from ten thousand kilometers. Is there a reason why he's taking his sweet time. Maybe he's trying to mask himself in his blood - I don't know. New strategy for shark attacks - cut yourself wide open? doh!

  • @PigsCanFly99 He was doing what is called a safety stop, lose his arm or lose his life when he surfaces and his lungs blow up! I know pepe` his arm looks great but always a reminder!

  • after the bite = deco xD Divecomputer goes crazy

  • dude you never pull away when you give him food...and you need a long fish not a small wavy peice .. still exellent footage..

  • Bravo Dieppa !!!

    saludos Barbaro.

  • that was bad ass

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! u don't mess around with nature like that, he's lucky the shark didn't eat him

  • Well done he shouldn 't be messing with a shark no matter what part of the world he is.

  • This is the result of drinking too much Cuban rum the night before!

  • Ok, a couple of things:

Never try to feed a shark and tease it with a dead fish while being a cuban with scuba-gear and a black g-string and accompanied by somebody who doesn't give a shit that you're bleeding to death AND swimming near two hungry sharks and still holds the camera to watch you suffer...

    Heed my words... o_O

  • @kulekukushe123; Oh Goodness you made me laugh so hard I thought I was going to bust a gut. Very funny, not for the cuban in the speedo but for me, it made my day. Thanks.

  • @kulekukushe123 ur an ass first of all the diver is one of the most experienced diver i have ever met and he knew what to do so he didn't need help

Horrible...!

  • Thats what happens if try to feed sharks, they might accidently taste your arm of !!

  • haha lol

    gobshite

  • i thought blood was red!

  • he is in no pain, he's just making a safety stop, you can hear the watches going off. so i think the he was not in too much pain and he made it out okay..

  • Why didnt it show the rest

  • the bullshark died of foodpoisoning

  • Please answer my email on this video. Thank you!!

  • What a dumbass. No chain mesh? You deserve to get bit!!!!

  • Was he ok? what was the outcome?

  • AHAHAHAHAH thats what you get for teasing the shark, f u didnt pul your hand away and then protect urself u'd still have ur hand intact, if you're goin to feed it then feed it dont fk around wit it. and for all of you guys. that are saying hes got balls....any idiot would do the same so yea fk all balls...

  • hahahahahahaha he screamed

  • For shark that piece of bait and the hand that holding it are both edible......lucky the guy didn't loose the entire limb.....utter recklessness on part of the diver,

  • You can tell he was in major pain as there was a moment he almost didnt make it up. Anyways they were probably very depp since it took them a while to get to the surface. I feel bad for him but he asked for it as well.

  • dingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingding

    ding

  • Wow that was outta nowere Lol

  • I finished my PADI open water diver course week ago :) hope this will never happen to me

  • holy crud that guy was bleeding like crazy.

  • It also gets them used to humans, their most dangerous predator which makes them more vulnerable. Let nature be and stop fucking with the natural food chain in the ocean.

  • As a SCUBA instructor and someone who has been in the water with Tiger Sharks, Bull Sharks, etc.. I have to say the following:

Handfeeding sharks is a bad idea, period. Not only because of what happened on this video (although that wasn't good either for obvious reasons) but because it gets the sharks used to regular feedings and they slowly loose their hunting skills and become "lazy" and cannot fend for themselves.

  • Burro!

  • this is insane :o i mean it's cool and all but ridiculously insane !

  • Feedin sharks is dangerous and not recommended at all. You cannot control the crazy speedy movements of a bunch of sharhks. Sorry for the man but he was just stupid and not brave. And no divesuit is also very stupid, 'cause it gives you a minimum protection. Blood loos in sharks populated waters is very very VERY dangerous. Lucky man he did not loose all the forearm, and it was just a reef not so big shark. No way man...

  • @Topesio66

It wasn't a reefshark but a bullshark. I was diving at that location in january and the smallest one was over 2 metres. The biggest one exceeded 3 metres!

Bulls can be very dangerous but what surprised me: once the divemaster stopped feeding them the sharks were no longer interested in the divers. They didn't become pushy but actually continued to keep a distance from us. They are being fed for over 10 years but are nevertheless still wild animals and mostly shy for people.

  • The people can to be so stupid as you say because is nesesary that stupid people study the animal nature, for that people so inteligent like you learns about this animal.

  • dude. did he rub sand on it at 1:45?

  • This is so profoundly stupid. It's no different than feeding brown bears, and ought to be just as illegal.

  • lesson learnt

  • give some food to a shark its cool!! but the realy cool thing is that the guy who get the fucking big wound tked it so cool. no panic at all. that was incredible!!

  • To you non divers out there, try getting into a wetsuit while wearing boxer short type swimming costumes, and you will see why divers prefer speedos!

  • what a f***ing idiot! it´s amazing how stupid people can be... hahaha

  • Bikini wear on a man + watching late night National Geographic clips = Big mistake! never EVER try to feed a shark by hand!

  • dumb-ass, dumb-ass, dumbass dumbass dumbass dumbass, dumb-ass (to the tune of jaws)

  • hahaha. Love it xXx

  • happy Halloween!

  • he deserved it...he was speeding a wearo

  • zughahahahhaha it wasnt a dog fuckin idiot he want 2 play with shark and it happened :D

  • That was ..FANTASTIC!Bravo..you guys have big BALLS!I am not talking about feeding(teasing|) the shark, that was crazy.Watching these guys ascend nice and calmly was like WOW! I was on the edge of my chair with my jaw dropped. Excellent example of how to deal with an emergency. And the guy filming..farout..nerves of steel keeping that camera on your mate.Amazing footage...I would love to dive with you guys anytime.. not if you are going to feed the fish though :-)

  • nasty...

nice to hear he's back in the water tho

and has no bad feelings for the shark.

it was just doing what sharks do afterall.

bullsharks are just testosterone fueled eating machines

(some scientists say that the bull shark has even more testosterone than an elephant in musth) he was feeding it by hand tho and it just gave a little test bite (just a pitty a little test from a bull shark causes a lot of damage)

  • Jose was possibly Cuba's best diver and has a great deal of respect and love for the sharks. He acknowledged that this was his mistake not the shark's. He has more guts than the arm chair critics who condemn him or think that this video was funny. He also had the presence of mind to make a safe ascent and keep the others away from him while he did. Before he moved to Mexico, I saw him and he was bearing a pretty horrific scar but no ill will to the shark.

  • I'm sorry. Hand feeding a bull shark? Darwin candidate here...

  • Oh my gosh! Did you see how big that shark was!? And his gash was like a flap of skin he was leaving a trail of blood the entire time and there was more than one shark OMG that is SO SCARY. Not only that but doesnt he have to re pressurize? Your supposed to wait you can't just swim to the top. Wow that could have been allot worse.

  • Hahaha That was funny!!!! You kinda ask for it when you are waving some food in front of a gungry shark, stupid idiot.

  • the instructor s name is Lemay??

  • he deserved it... he was wearing a speedo

  • lol thats great

  • OK he was feeding sharks !

    what do you expect?

  • That'll learn you not to tease animals with food, that's kindergarten 101 man. You pull that shit with my dog she'd probably bite you by mistake too. If you're gonna feed the animal by hand then fucking feed it don't taunt it, that's just looking for trouble. Part of me kinda hopes you got the bends on the way up just for being a bit of a douche.

  • Ele mereceu, quem mandou ir mexer com o tubarão!!!

  • I am into swimming with sharks let alone feeding sharks, but I do have to say this, the diver stayed much calmer than I would have!

  • well you have to be

  • All that needs to be said is "What a moron!"

  • why didnt you get to the top faster? all that blood good thing the shark didnt come back

  • you dont want to get the bends

  • Why the shark goes fastly away?

  • its more afraid of you than your afraid of it, sharks only attack to find out if its really food, apparently people arnt a sharks normal diet so it wont eat a person

  • that's got to hurt!

    happy halloween subadiver!!

  • a safety stop is not necessary in case of an emergancy, actually they just started teaching the safety stop a few years ago. His computer was not beeping because of his ascent but because it wanted him to make a safety stop. But in that case he made the right choice to not go with a safety stop.

  • Thanks to the rest of us swimmers, divers, surfers, etc for training sharks to not fear humans. This is why they say not to feed bears, alligators and such. What idiots. Thanks again, in 10-20 years maybe sharks will learn that humans just mean it's time to eat. Morons

  • hahahaha sharks dont "learn" that humans should be food. They dont have schools where one shark tells another to go eat a person! LMAO it takes TONS of time before an introduced animal becomes part of a natural environment. We will most likely always be an unnatural animal to sharks, if they are even around that long. Very ignorant comment.

  • que cipote!

  • Given the degree of light, I agree they weren't too deep. The likelihood of getting hit is slim, true, but the risk is still there all the same, exacerbated by the fact that his heart rate is probably sky high after the bite. I do think he keeps his head (other than being stupid in trying to feed a shark in the first place). There is a lot we don't know, however. Were they deeper before this point? How long were they down? His computer was beeping, which means his ascent was faster than advised.

  • Sorry, scubadvd. There was no safety stop made. The general practice is to do a safety stop of 3 minutes at roughly 5 meters. Given that the clip is itself only three minutes long, we can see no such safety stop happened. The beeping you are hearing is his comp telling him he is ascending too quickly and ignoring the safety stop. They don't appear to be too deep however, and given the circumstances a rapid ascent is warranted. They seem to be at least keeping to a slow speed than the bubbles.

  • Susky, they weren't really to deep, so in that case a 3 min safety stop is not necessarily. And after all, if u get bitten by a shark and are bleeding alot, I think u wanna get back to the surface as fast as possible, even if its dangerous...

  • There is a lot wrong with the decisions this guy makes. As a general practice, it is a bad idea to feed sharks because if it happens at the same locations for long enough, a feeding expectation starts to brew. This is bad for other divers. If you are going to feed sharks, try hard to have some sort of extension to hold the bait. This leaves you room for error. Lastly, don't yank the bait away as he does at 1.21. This makes the shark think the prey is fleeing.

  • I have to say, I am blown away by his self control. His comfort and experience level show. I do not know much about scuba diving, but I am assuming the slowing of his rate to ascention is necessary for his body, correct?

  • He is the most stupid guy i have ever seen!

  • all of u guys can stop talking bullshit... first... i went diving there unprotected for more than 100 times... is one of more safest places to dive with shark(santa lucia) than a lot of places in the world... and those 2 divers have more COJONES que all of u... CUBAN HAS NO PANIC...

  • holly fuckin shit

  • blood looks so cool at that depth, being all green like that. As for the diver.....lesson learned. He got away lucky too. He could have lost his hand or arm! No surprise, you can here his dive comp beeping to slow his ascent rate.

  • that dude is stupid u dont fuck wit sharks he stayed wit the bait for a long time he should of let it go wen the shark got close

  • Omg! So Scary .. But .. Why unprotected? Weren't u afraid for it .. You've could see this one coming .. The wond must hurted with the sea water. I'm happy u still live lol. Next time dive protected.

  • nydp66 That's why I have good comments like yours ,it make people talking about it,and if you were having the chance to try it maybe that's could help you of the fraid of sharks.thanks

  • what's the idiot doing feeding at shark?????

  • Well, he's got a story to tell. But feeding a shark uprotected is really stupid. You both are lucky that it didn't went worse. After he got bitten, instead of filming, why didn't you grab his tank and regulate the ascend speed? You managed to make a good emergency ascend but a diver in such stress could loose control and panic. And that is more dangerous than such a shark bite - I know what I'm talking about - I'm a rescue diver...

  • The victim being an instructor, he seemed to be in control and nowhere near panicking. In fact he even seems to be making his safety stop and he gives an OK sign at 2:40.

Those Cuban divemasters/instructors dive everyday 2-3 dives a day, takes a lot to get them anywhere near panic.

  • ouch that should have hurt alot...
