Wow I thought I was the only one who was disappointed with this chapter. Just like you I was expecting to see the fox and Naruto come to an agreement, but instead we got an irrelevant flashback. And you do have good point Naruto is too popular for any of the manga chapters to be pointless. But I'am happy that the fox and Naruto came to an agreement in 570...

Well this is naruto not real warfare. There are very powerful Justus that can easily destroy a number of people. And you also have to remember that the zetsu clones are easy to kill, and so are the shinobi forces.
I really like this cuz you finally stopped with the jokes and got serious, not that i don´t like seeing you doing jokes but (and it´s just my opinion)i think you´re overdoing it in your videos, i think you should crack jokes less often as too much of anything is never good
I think one of the purposes of this chapter was to show that Hinata already liked Naruto back then. As well as Sakura liked Sasuke back then. Two chapters later we get the confirmation that the fellings of both girls towards their guys haven't disappeared but even deepened into love.
Another thing: It's Naruto's flashback, isn't it? So that means that he just remembered Sakura as an Sasuke-Fangirl and Hinata as the only one cheering for Naruto. I seriously wonder what Kishi is up to lately...
I'm A huge Naruto fanboy, and I haven't read the chapter, but I too don't think every single episode or chapter looks like it has a purpose, and I have been disapointet a couple of times...But at the same time I think that Kishimoto made does chapters for a reason...I mean In Naruto part 1 There was this one part where Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura tried to find out Kakashi's face....I think that was to kinda make a bond between them and show that they can work together as a team ^^

i swear i am TOO THROUGH with naruto is kishi dont make him end up with hinata sakura dont really love him at all more less as a bestfriend not a lover hinata loves him as everything. and will even go as far as sacrificing her own life to make sure her future soul mate is safe but kishi makes naruto to blind to see this...or atleast thats what we think for now...

I thought this was one of the better fights. I wish they had set it up better by making Danzo beat someone truly great. But Danzo is a confusing character. Is he a villain or not? Its very grey. By explaining Danzo's history you are right we understand Danzo, who has been mostly a villain, and why he does stuff. We also see Sasuke falling deeper into the abyss. Great part of the story.
ok from what i understand, nagato and itachi are there but being saved for later by kabuto and madara. neji has overused his byakugan and is in trouble, and someone comes to sakura with a love letter but she says she already has someone she likes (naruto?).
I think this chapter gives us a question. Can Naruto and the Kyuubi work together? I get that the Kyuubi is one evil sob but he seemed to want to have an intelligent discussion with Naruto about his efforts. The Kyuubi has been watching Naruto all his life and thought he knew of Naruto's resolve. However, Naruto got into the the Kyuubi's face and taught him just how great his resolve really was. This may have significance as to weather or not these two can actually work together.
IMO Kishi's planning to do something significant with the rookies so the chapter served as a reminder of thier bonds with each other and the journey they've all made, particularly Naruto. We saw how far he's come in understanding Sasuke. He's always been aware of a hatred consuming Sasuke but he couldn't understand that hatred,why it's there, why it affects Sasuke so much. Considering their last reunion it really makes you feel the long way Naruto has come.

I feel like Hinata and Sasuke are two counterpoints in Narutos life.
Sasuke is arguably the person he cares about most, Hinata cares about Naruto most. Everything Sasuke dose is because of hate and revenge, Everything Hinata dose is because of love and a deep desire to prove herself.
Then look at how similar they are,same color scheme,from a prominent clan,specal eyes,even their hair in part1 is similar.
I really think Kishi was trying to make a conection,then became a obsessed with Sasuke

It was nice to see everyone, it did give even more significance to battle at the end of part one,I liked it,I just felt that the timing left much to be desired and it would have been nice if something relevant happened in the same chapter.

Yea this chapter was disappointing because everyone was looking forward to Naruto entering the battle field. But if you go back and read it again you will se that the chapter was meant to show that, now that Naruto is the boss and that he actually has superiority over the fox while in the past the fox had hurt his friends and has endangered his life multiple times. It's funny. After viewing this, I do realize many mangas are usually not filled with the context and captivity in each of its chapters even if its a short comic. They should add more pages of detail into these chapters and not give the audience "the small stuff" just so they could draw a following.

I was just re- reading this chapter and I felt like when i was reading it again I got this feeling that the Nine tails fox is trying to protect Naruto from being consumed by hate and that he does not want Naruto the fall into hate like Sasuke. He goes as far to saying I've always been inside of you everyday of your life and you are always too naive. Its like Yokurama's response video he states I could see them being friends. I mean would he not be able to control him if he gained hate again
@Swayer7mage, The fox trying to talk to Naruto, telling him he should forget about Sasuke and kill him. But Naruto's no fool or idiot, for that matter. You're right about what you said about Chap 538, especially the only girl who only cheer for Naruto is, you know who: Hinata. Naruto finally put that fox on a real short leash, indeed. I think Naruto has to tell his friends, everything he hid from them all this time and I hope Itachi's power will finally revealed "the truth"!

As for answering your question on what was the point of the chapter_ i think that the parts where the Kyuubi talked to Naruto might be symbolizing the Kyuubi slowly come to like naruto or maybe sometime in the future have a Killer bee/Hachibi like relationship as for the flashback your guess is as good as mine cause it was REALLY irrelevant
I like your comment about not being sheep. But i do disagree with you I see a lot of significance in this chapter which you can read in some of my other comments as well. I do see your point in yeah we already know Naruto not giving up on Sasuke but the thing is the Fox does not fully understand this concept of Naruto, the fox has mainly only feed off the darkness and evil in Naruto's heart and his doubt of not being strong enough to get Sasuke back, and anger not his light and strength.
This chapter showed Naruto's character development as well as a blossoming partnership with the Fox. The Fox is now aware of Naruto's mental and emotional growth, and is offering him some sound advice. But yeah the flashback was a waste of panel space. Kishi should've just had an entire chapter of banter between Naruto and the fox. Or even a little side action from the war. I give the chapter a 2.5 outta 5.
I think that this chapter has significance because you may not see it now but Naruto and the Fox are gaining more of a relationship "I mean come on when has the nine tails ever tried to have a long conversation other than who do you want to kill with Naruto, the fox is trying to convince Naruto not to take all this burden of hate on his own kind of like how the eight tails will try to reason with bee." The flash back shows use that only Naruto saw the real Sauska when no one else did.
Also (though it may be a bit biased because I like NaruHina) I did like the panel where Hinata is showing her support. Because this is Narutos memory of it, so it shows that he at least remembers some support that he has received from her.
to be honest, I really didn't find any point in this chapter at all. To me it just felt like Kishi was trying to give more of a history between Naruto and Sasuke, but honestly I didn't think it was even needed. (FYI this is my favourite series ever, so I'm not dissing it or w/e. It's just a slight criticism) Even the panels that were meant to be dramatised, didn't in actuality seem dramatic at all to me.The only thing I did like was the explanation of the "Harmony" thing.

The war itself was built up SO much by the fans that all the expectations were just unable to be reached. I mean, I was like yes finally the war, and it was awesome but I agree that it does seem to be declining in interest, for me that is, in some parts and lacking that feel that Naruto has. That's just my opinion about how this is all going of course, I value your very candid opinions very much, keep it up. =)
I believe that this chapter shows something that we haven't seen from Naruto yet. I think the way Naruto spoke to the fox really puts the fact that Naruto is confident in his self across. I don't think that there's been any confrontation with the fox where it didn't feel like Naruto lost a battle in words until now. I felt like he finally put a leash on the fox. Saying " It's my turn to wear the pants in this relationship." In regards to the flashback i believe it's a from of foreshadowing.
@Mikieedude I agree with you, but I also believe that it's not only Naruto showing dominance over the fox but also it is showing the fox for once trying to reason with Naruto and develop an understanding between them the fox can no longer ignore Naruto as someone to gain control over. I also believe that the flashback revivals that only Naruto could recognize that hate in Sasuke and that he was not recognized or seen by Sasuke at that time angered him because he wants to be seen as an equal
@Mikieedude Flashback was way too long for it to only serve the purpose of foreshadoing. it just didn't work for me. The length was just unnecessary and, like I said in the video, it could have been in part 1. People keep restating what I said. Yes the Fox thing was important and so was the Harmony sign, but that's all. I don't read a Naruto on a weekly basis (waited over a week 4 this chapter) just to get 2 inklings. I Love the series, but this chapter dissapointed me and a lot of other fans.
@Sawyer7mage Also we didnt need any more meaning to the harmony sign as it was establish as a sort of peaceful and gentle relationship between the characters based on how kishi drew the story when it was shown being done between naruto and sasuke in part 1. It was good for added meaning but it should have been established in part one to build suspense, it was misplaced. And Also we didnt need that part between shika and cho because we already know their relationship. This was jsut pointless.
i think that this was an interesting chapter because u get to se just how fll of hate sasuke was when he was little and i'm guessing all of this stuff will come up again later
I agree about the critical thinking you are talking about, but i think this chapter said more things than most chapters.... just because it didn't have any action doesn't mean it lacked significance. Showing Sasuke at this point, after so long, means that he will be definitely coming up in the next chapters. I think it is perfect timing, Kishimoto still has things from part 1 to uncover and explain and that shows how much of an amazing writer he is. So think of it as a preparation chapter.
Naruto still hasn't clearly answered the question that has been asked by Nagato and the Kyuubi: "How will you end the cycle of hatred?" It's pretty much impossible to answer this correctly since it's a problem in the real world too... I'm betting the answer is gonna be something stupid or cliche.

The reason I love your reviews so much is because you actually point out the ridiculous things in Naruto. Nobody else reviews like that, every review is how great the chapter was, so you don't even need to watch it because you know what it's going to be every time. Someone who rants about something they enjoy is more interesting because they actually know what they're talking about. I've heard true fans are the ones who can make fun of the stories they like.
the only three things that i liked about this chapter were small things, young shino, lil'hiinata likes naruto, and naruto pins down the nine tails. the whole match and peace and overcome hate, that was boring as hell.
This chapter was filler =\ kishi loooooves filler and Im not surprised nor dissappointed id rather have a chapter than none at all and besides he's trying his best not to rush it so its whatever, this probably means that we're going to get a decent chapter next week

Your point also has me thinking on how far Kishi is going to take for the whole war since this is only the beginning of the change of Naruto/kyuubi dynamic: Kyuubi becomes calm while Naruto becomes more confident to possible border arrogant/angry.
Also the piece on the finger and hand thing of the past does seem like relevant emotional development but it did seem misplaced since its going to the end.

I think one of the purposes of this chapter was to show that Hinata already liked Naruto back then. As well as Sakura liked Sasuke back then. Two chapters later we get the confirmation that the fellings of both girls towards their guys haven't disappeared but even deepened into love.
Another thing: It's Naruto's flashback, isn't it? So that means that he just remembered Sakura as an Sasuke-Fangirl and Hinata as the only one cheering for Naruto. I seriously wonder what Kishi is up to lately...

I'm A huge Naruto fanboy, and I haven't read the chapter, but I too don't think every single episode or chapter looks like it has a purpose, and I have been disapointet a couple of times...But at the same time I think that Kishimoto made does chapters for a reason...I mean In Naruto part 1 There was this one part where Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura tried to find out Kakashi's face....I think that was to kinda make a bond between them and show that they can work together as a team ^^

I thought this was one of the better fights. I wish they had set it up better by making Danzo beat someone truly great. But Danzo is a confusing character. Is he a villain or not? Its very grey. By explaining Danzo's history you are right we understand Danzo, who has been mostly a villain, and why he does stuff. We also see Sasuke falling deeper into the abyss. Great part of the story.

I think this chapter gives us a question. Can Naruto and the Kyuubi work together? I get that the Kyuubi is one evil sob but he seemed to want to have an intelligent discussion with Naruto about his efforts. The Kyuubi has been watching Naruto all his life and thought he knew of Naruto's resolve. However, Naruto got into the the Kyuubi's face and taught him just how great his resolve really was. This may have significance as to weather or not these two can actually work together.

IMO Kishi's planning to do something significant with the rookies so the chapter served as a reminder of thier bonds with each other and the journey they've all made, particularly Naruto. We saw how far he's come in understanding Sasuke. He's always been aware of a hatred consuming Sasuke but he couldn't understand that hatred,why it's there, why it affects Sasuke so much. Considering their last reunion it really makes you feel the long way Naruto has come.

I feel like Hinata and Sasuke are two counterpoints in Narutos life.
Sasuke is arguably the person he cares about most, Hinata cares about Naruto most. Everything Sasuke dose is because of hate and revenge, Everything Hinata dose is because of love and a deep desire to prove herself.
Then look at how similar they are,same color scheme,from a prominent clan,specal eyes,even their hair in part1 is similar.
I really think Kishi was trying to make a conection,then became a obsessed with Sasuke

@FatalDeity i think yer rite, since the war started, based off readin and listenin 2 reviews, the only 2 good things i can remember people talkin about r 1)kakashi gettin pissed and 2) the last time they showed saskue. he didnt do anythin but lay n the bed w/bandages over his eyes, and fans n reviewers thought that was the greatest thing ever lol. the mangas been draggin 4 a while, but i still look 4ward 2 readin it every week n puttin the story 2gether. overall seems sakue is all that matters

It's funny. After viewing this, I do realize many mangas are usually not filled with the context and captivity in each of its chapters even if its a short comic. They should add more pages of detail into these chapters and not give the audience "the small stuff" just so they could draw a following.

I was just re- reading this chapter and I felt like when i was reading it again I got this feeling that the Nine tails fox is trying to protect Naruto from being consumed by hate and that he does not want Naruto the fall into hate like Sasuke. He goes as far to saying I've always been inside of you everyday of your life and you are always too naive. Its like Yokurama's response video he states I could see them being friends. I mean would he not be able to control him if he gained hate again

You're right about what you said about Chap 538, especially the only girl who only cheer for Naruto is, you know who: Hinata. Naruto finally put that fox on a real short leash, indeed. I like your comment about not being sheep. But i do disagree with you I see a lot of significance in this chapter which you can read in some of my other comments as well. I do see your point in yeah we already know Naruto not giving up on Sasuke but the thing is the Fox does not fully understand this concept of Naruto, the fox has mainly only feed off the darkness and evil in Naruto's heart and his doubt of not being strong enough to get Sasuke back, and anger not his light and strength.

This chapter showed Naruto's character development as well as a blossoming partnership with the Fox. The Fox is now aware of Naruto's mental and emotional growth, and is offering him some sound advice. But yeah the flashback was a waste of panel space. Kishi should've just had an entire chapter of banter between Naruto and the fox. Or even a little side action from the war. I give the chapter a 2.5 outta 5.

I think that this chapter has significance because you may not see it now but Naruto and the Fox are gaining more of a relationship "I mean come on when has the nine tails ever tried to have a long conversation other than who do you want to kill with Naruto, the fox is trying to convince Naruto not to take all this burden of hate on his own kind of like how the eight tails will try to reason with bee." The flash back shows use that only Naruto saw the real Sauska when no one else did.

to be honest, I really didn't find any point in this chapter at all. To me it just felt like Kishi was trying to give more of a history between Naruto and Sasuke, but honestly I didn't think it was even needed. (FYI this is my favourite series ever, so I'm not dissing it or w/e. It's just a slight criticism) Even the panels that were meant to be dramatised, didn't in actuality seem dramatic at all to me.The only thing I did like was the explanation of the "Harmony" thing.

The war itself was built up SO much by the fans that all the expectations were just unable to be reached. I mean, I was like yes finally the war, and it was awesome but I agree that it does seem to be declining in interest, for me that is, in some parts and lacking that feel that Naruto has. That's just my opinion about how this is all going of course, I value your very candid opinions very much, keep it up. =)

I believe that this chapter shows something that we haven't seen from Naruto yet. I think the way Naruto spoke to the fox really puts the fact that Naruto is confident in his self across. I don't think that there's been any confrontation with the fox where it didn't feel like Naruto lost a battle in words until now. I felt like he finally put a leash on the fox. Saying " It's my turn to wear the pants in this relationship." In regards to the flashback i believe it's a from of foreshadowing.

@Mikieedude I agree with you, but I also believe that it's not only Naruto showing dominance over the fox but also it is showing the fox for once trying to reason with Naruto and develop an understanding between them the fox can no longer ignore Naruto as someone to gain control over. I also believe that the flashback revivals that only Naruto could recognize that hate in Sasuke and that he was not recognized or seen by Sasuke at that time angered him because he wants to be seen as an equal

@Mikieedude Flashback was way too long for it to only serve the purpose of foreshadoing. it just didn't work for me. The length was just unnecessary and, like I said in the video, it could have been in part 1. People keep restating what I said. Yes the Fox thing was important and so was the Harmony sign, but that's all. I don't read a Naruto on a weekly basis (waited over a week 4 this chapter) just to get 2 inklings. I Love the series, but this chapter dissapointed me and a lot of other fans.

It was good for added meaning but it should have been established in part one to build suspense, it was misplaced. I agree about the critical thinking you are talking about, but i think this chapter said more things than most chapters.... just because it didn't have any action doesn't mean it lacked significance. Showing Sasuke at this point, after so long, means that he will be definitely coming up in the next chapters. I think it is perfect timing, Kishimoto still has things from part 1 to uncover and explain and that shows how much of an amazing writer he is. So think of it as a preparation chapter.

Naruto still hasn't clearly answered the question that has been asked by Nagato and the Kyuubi: "How will you end the cycle of hatred?" It's pretty much impossible to answer this correctly since it's a problem in the real world too... I'm betting the answer is gonna be something stupid or cliche.

The reason I love your reviews so much is because you actually point out the ridiculous things in Naruto. Nobody else reviews like that, every review is how great the chapter was, so you don't even need to watch it because you know what it's going to be every time. I really think this chapter, maybe more than any other, demonstrated the symbiotic relationship between a host and a bijuu even though that wasn't the focus of it. Naruto asked the nine tails whether feeding on his (Naruto's) chakra has brought him back to normal which is the first hint we've had that their new relationship of absorbing chakra from each other is having an effect on the Kyuubi as well. Your point also has me thinking on how far Kishi is going to take for the whole war since this is only the beginning of the change of Naruto/kyuubi dynamic: Kyuubi becomes calm while Naruto becomes more confident to possible border arrogant/angry.

...it's at least somewhat understandable that absorbing someone elses could affect a person's disposition. That was certainly the case with Naruto whenever he'd tap into the nine tails' chakra before, even when only a few tails manifested and he was still in control he'd become violent, aggressive and inconsolable which are qualities characteristic of the kyuubi.
