ive fallen off loads, it doesnt even hurt anymore (well, except my fail fal in teh summer galloping up a hill and my horse decided downhill was more fun and i did something to the bone in my ankle and still not recovered) i just laugh at my falls and pat the horse. :)

that poor man at 1:00 is experienceing my least favourite feeling, the feeling of your horses falling to the floor underneath you, the feeling of fear and worry, it lasts for under a second but it is the scariest thing to ever happen me. my poor pony falls to the floor and i land and see her lying there looking scared and confused, she looks at me and whinneys a fearful whinney for help and i cry trying to nurse her back up to all four feet. thank god she was ok, she just got a horrible fright
the worst time i fell off was an appy named smokey. He was a little pasture sour. My trainer made me ride him cause he needed the work. he spun around reared bucked and yanked me forward bucking again. i landed, bounced, and relanded on my stomach, i got the wind knocked out of me and broke my tailbone. smokey looks at me like y r u on thhe ground silly girl and walks over to my trainer who was giving a training ride to a friends horse. My trainer says ok get back on and walk around then go in.
i fell of going over a jump and did a front flip and landed on my feet anmd my horse just stood there as if to say what are you doing down there :L she did a massive bunny hop what i wasnt ready for :L
my riding instructor told me after my first fall that i had 99 more falls until i became a perfect rider...i'm down to 97. My dad who played polo was at 94. :)
so i was at a zone games competition and i fell off because i lost be balance so i got back on and fell back off the other side ... this happen 5 times!!! and all for different reasons but every time i would get back on, id face plant over the other side! D: embarrassing :P
i saw in a horse illustrated magazine once said that the authors doctor said that horse riding is the only sport were you brang about your inguries!!!! haha
I fell off of my horse one time...cause I didnt know he hated lariats with a passion! he ran off & I bailed off..I landed straight on my back & slid..but it didnt hurt LOL but one time, bc he LOVES to jump, he jumped unexpectedly over a big wet spot from raining..and I bailed out and ended up landing on my tailbone..I was out for a month! It was odd though...cause he only did that at the barn I use to have him at?
There is noting funny about any riding accidents no matter how long you have them around. Some of these look very serious and most likely, not one of these people have laughed about the fall.
lol the only time I have fell off a horse was when I was standing STILL and my horse spooked he then galloped off reared and bucked untill I fell off and landed on my feet. SEE IF U CAN BEAT THAT CATS XD!!

Western is not as difficult as English! You idiots it's a lot harder all you have to do in western is flop around and in English you have to look graceful.

I agree that Western is as hard as english though you are better at western if you rode english first and better at english if you ride western to! They teach you about each other better than if you just rode one!
I Agree with barrelbelle. western is just as difficult as english even though people always think that more advanced people ride english but that is not true.
I hope they're all safe and not injured. I horse-back ride as well and let me tell you it is incredibly amazing and fun, but everyone has their faults. When I rode some weeks ago I kept sliding forward on my horse while trotting, but I have better balance now. I don't know why but I always think about the horse before myself, I am just too afraid to hurt or injure the horse.
Lol, i went down to see my friends who have horses and a thoroughbred (ex racehorse aswell) bolted on me and i lost my stirrup and then he slid on the mud around the corner and i fell of and landed on my head, i had a bad head ache but nothing broken :)
omg, today i had my first fall, but i thank god i didnt eat dirt for it, cause i was riding BB and i slipped off going around a turn and was like clining onto my horses neck XD
Try falling of a horse the second you've gotten on before your lesson has even started infront of about 15 other riders and 50 people watching in the stands. Now that hurts your pride almost as much as your arse is hurting.
@Mshorselovingsophie I was being given a leg up onto a young 17hh warmblood and he didn't like it. The second I was in the saddle he bolted and started bucking and rearing, I think my whip or even my leg touched his rear end and that set him of. We don't do leg ups or mounting from the floor anymore.
I think you can find in both types of riding very good riders. I think there is no right or wrong in riding, you can try only the most out of their own way to make riding in such a way that it is for the horse most comfortable. (I ride both) density is that you interact well with your horse, it respects and love. All I can advise, never insult another person or so to something malicious to imply everyone makes mistakes, it is important to do it even better. I apologize for my lousy English ables
Western and English may be different in many ways but even though I have never ridden true western I do know that it is as difficult and dangerous as English so these arguments are stupid just think. horses die either way and yes racing is bad but not always. Rodeo is also bad as animals die there so get it into your heads that they are equal and you may choose which you do. Neither is crueler than the other no matter what you all say !

Ow... Some of them look REALLY painfull... The worst accident I've been in was when I was doing a Showjumping comp and the horse shyed away from the jump, reared and bolted... I was thrown out of the arena.... :( x<3

my worst fall was when I fell off Dixie, I got got in the stirrup and fell under the horse's hooves. I remember falling and a vague rememberance of the instructor telling me not to move but the rest of the 1hr long lesson is a blank.I /apperently/ got back on and was riding fine and yet I had to check my watch to see if I was starting or finishing.In total I broke my tailbone,fractured my arm,broke the ankle &fractured the leg caught in the stirrup when I fell &had some huge gashes on my back...

why is there always fighting between the english riders and the western? i just dont get it. it takes guts to get into the saddle period. and if you ride at all, you're going to eat some dirt, we all do it. ride how you want to, do what you love, ask questions if you dont know, but dont be ugly because someone prefers an english saddle over western, or the other way around. the art of riding is keeping a horse between you and the ground!! for everybody in the saddle...

I'm best friends with an english rider :P I ride western myself because that's how I ride. I'm merely not a fan of english because I've had absolutely no luck with it :) Nothing wrong with the discipline itself.

Hey, i agree with manddaa123. Western is as hard as English, English is as hard as western. We are all horseback riders and we do it for the love of the animals. both styles are tough and we all fall off. When we hope on for bareback we go through the same issues. :) Our horses honestly dont care. Horseriders are Horseriders. my best friend is english and we r the closest ever and i do western. We all share one thing. THE LOVE FOR THE HORSES <3

LOL I rode both English and Western as a kid. The most dangerous one is BAREBACK..w/o a helmet. Long story. I lived, but converted 3 nurses who rode w/o helmets at hospital into buying one.
Horse was fine, my head had a nice bump on it, and at around noon for a week I would sleep for 3 hours. I would wear my helmet just to feed my horse for a month after that.

@manddaa123 I totally agree, Ive been riding western and English for 5 years and saddleseat for 1 year. theres really not difference in difficulty. You have to love your horses and work extremely hard to gain the necessary skill and determination to be confident in any equine disciple.

(according with my experiences) English people are more like keep it in there head type thing, but you know by the way they talk to you they look down on it.
@manddaa123 I ride both too, and I hate it when people are like "all you do is sit there, I actually move." between western and english. But even in the different stlyes theres still so much tension. The only time I get frustrated with the jumpers is when they go over their ring time haha.

I fell off of my horse one time...cause I didnt know he hated lariats with a passion! he ran off & I bailed off..I landed straight on my back & slid..but it didnt hurt LOL but one time, bc he LOVES to jump, he jumped unexpectedly over a big wet spot from raining..and I bailed out and ended up landing on my tailbone..I was out for a month! It was odd though...cause he only did that at the barn I use to have him at?

I hope they're all safe and not injured. I horse-back ride as well and let me tell you it is incredibly amazing and fun, but everyone has their faults. When I rode some weeks ago I kept sliding forward on my horse while trotting, but I have better balance now. I don't know why but I always think about the horse before myself, I am just too afraid to hurt or injure the horse.

Lol, i went down to see my friends who have horses and a thoroughbred (ex racehorse aswell) bolted on me and i lost my stirrup and then he slid on the mud around the corner and i fell of and landed on my head, i had a bad head ache but nothing broken :)

@Mshorselovingsophie I was being given a leg up onto a young 17hh warmblood and he didn't like it. The second I was in the saddle he bolted and started bucking and rearing, I think my whip or even my leg touched his rear end and that set him of. We don't do leg ups or mounting from the floor anymore.

I think you can find in both types of riding very good riders. I think there is no right or wrong in riding, you can try only the most out of their own way to make riding in such a way that it is for the horse most comfortable. (I ride both) density is that you interact well with your horse, it respects and love. All I can advise, never insult another person or so to something malicious to imply everyone makes mistakes, it is important to do it even better. I apologize for my lousy English ables

Western and English may be different in many ways but even though I have never ridden true western I do know that it is as difficult and dangerous as English so these arguments are stupid just think. horses die either way and yes racing is bad but not always. Rodeo is also bad as animals die there so get it into your heads that they are equal and you may choose which you do. Neither is crueler than the other no matter what you all say !

Ow... Some of them look REALLY painfull... The worst accident I've been in was when I was doing a Showjumping comp and the horse shyed away from the jump, reared and bolted... I was thrown out of the arena.... :( x<3

my worst fall was when I fell off Dixie, I got got in the stirrup and fell under the horse's hooves. I remember falling and a vague rememberance of the instructor telling me not to move but the rest of the 1hr long lesson is a blank.I /apperently/ got back on and was riding fine and yet I had to check my watch to see if I was starting or finishing.In total I broke my tailbone,fractured my arm,broke the ankle &fractured the leg caught in the stirrup when I fell &had some huge gashes on my back...

why is there always fighting between the english riders and the western? i just dont get it. it takes guts to get into the saddle period. and if you ride at all, you're going to eat some dirt, we all do it. ride how you want to, do what you love, ask questions if you dont know, but dont be ugly because someone prefers an english saddle over western, or the other way around. the art of riding is keeping a horse between you and the ground!! for everybody in the saddle...

We are all horseback riders and we do it for the love of the animals. both styles are tough and we all fall off. When we hope on for bareback we go through the same issues. :) Our horses honestly dont care. Horseriders are Horseriders. my best friend is english and we r the closest ever and i do western. LOL I rode both English and Western as a kid. The most dangerous one is BAREBACK..w/o a helmet. Long story. I lived, but converted 3 nurses who rode w/o helmets at hospital into buying one.
Horse was fine, my head had a nice bump on it, and at around noon for a week I would sleep for 3 hours. I would wear my helmet just to feed my horse for a month after that.

Alright people. Stop dissing each others discipline. I HATE the fight that western has with english ( since I do both.) English people hate western people, and western people hate english people. If you ask me, its DUMB. It's STILL HORSEBACK RIDING. We all love our horses and would do anything for them, so why all the hate? Can't we all just get along?

@manddaa123 I totally agree!! I ride english and western too!!! Some1 starts bitchin at me sayin one is better or im not a real cowgirl, then I just say idc how i ride I love riding horses and just being with them!

@manddaa123 there isnt anything wrong with either discipline i myself ride mainly english but am working on learning western as well:) as long as we love our horses and take good care of them who cares who rides what =)

@manddaa123 I totally agree, Ive been riding western and English for 5 years and saddleseat for 1 year. theres really not difference in difficulty. You have to love your horses and work extremely hard to gain the necessary skill and determination to be confident in any equine disciple.

@manddaa123 In western and english YOU ARE BOTH RIDING A HORSE!!!!!!!! There is a lot of risk in both!!! Just because in western if you dont jump you still gallop and have a lot of risk! And In english just because you dont are in an arena doesnt mean you dont go on trails and go crazy and have fun! Both are great!!!!!!!

@manddaa123 God that is so true! I also ride both disciplines and to be honest most of the time western people are rude about this kinda thing. (according with my experiences) English people are more like keep it in there head type thing, but you know by the way they talk to you they look down on it.
Gosh people just love riding in general!

@manddaa123 I ride both too, and I hate it when people are like "all you do is sit there, I actually move." between western and english. But even in the different stlyes theres still so much tension. The only time I get frustrated with the jumpers is when they go over their ring time haha.

i've been riding for almost 7 years and i've just fell off once! :D but jumped off twice just to prevent a bigger accident so the horse would'nt get hurt :>
