  • thanks helped a lot

  • you just described how to share files via FTP on the same computer logged on to .. this does nothing for sharing files across the internet to other people!

  • Cloud storage ftw. Also, could you use an FTP server for gaming? Could i use for minecraft?

  • My old friend 240p

  • Do you need to forward any ports?

  • How do u make a gameserver?

  • what about just making torrent files and sharing them?

  • @MouthofSaurons Torrents must be re-uploaded every time you change it, FTP is dynamic, and whatever changes you make to it everyone sees it

  • but say I wanted to access my files from another computer...might be a stupid question, but im still confused

  • i'm confused by why 127.0.0.1 is used as that is the loopback address for testing the TCP/IP stack.

  • @Silverchair84 That rule only applies when you're pinging or checking network connectivity

  • how do you access the FTP server over the WAN?

    thank you in advance!

  • Thanks Working :)

  • Excellent video tutorial. You move around really fast, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. I mostly just listened while I did the functions on my computer.

    Thanks! Thumbs up!

  • When i put my 127.0.0.1 into the address bar, it says "pafe not found". What step am i missing?! GRR

  • You say you're going to talk more about how to connect to server using your ip address, but you never do?

  • This is a great vid.. I am using windows 7 and filezilla couldn't connect to 127.0.0.1 for the life of me.. in installed the FTP server built into windows and it worked.. not sure if that was a missed step in your vid.. thanks again!

  • Plastic Cock?

  • did you open your ruters ports in order for this to work??

  • does'nt work with me

  • great tutorial, terrible accent

  • Pretty good, but whats the hurry ?

  • so how can other people access my files

because 127.0.0.1 just redirects you to your own

  • I hate you

  • Hey man, great video! I tried looking at Filezilla's default tutorials and stuff, but this makes things way easier! Thanks!

  • you have good presentation skills. You could be a good teacher.

  • IT WORKS WOOHOO OMGLOL

  • i cant figure it out i need step by step help my wrouter is old and i dont know how to set ports for it please someone help!!!

  • great advice appreciate it, has any of you sampled Sally Hansen's most recent line of products?? it's hard to get decent makeup in Waite Hill but i managed to receive magnificent samples of make-up by going to 'Gratis Makeup Samples'! their cool!

  • that was cool... thanks

  • You made it So simple!

  • Pure-ftpd all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I tried to put the server online and it said: "Failed to create listen socket on port 21. Failed to create listen socket on any of the specified ports. Server is not online!"

    Help!

  • newer version maybe?

  • nice tut man good job

  • You talk very fast. I talk fast when I have moments of brilliance too. *whispers* Don't worry, it's perfectly natural. lmao

  • @Reagus09 almost forgot to say thanx.

  • Pretty nice teching man ...

I realy liked it and its help me much more for my office work ..

    Thanks friend..!!!!

  • If you want a more detailed FTP tutorial you can check out mine. I'm not trying to spam, but it covers a lot more of the fine details and options of FileZilla.

  • yea what does someone else connect with instead of 127.0.0.1

  • Thanks, bro. Appreciate the clear tutorial.

  • Thx awesome tutorial mine is working now !!! =]

  • Thanks this was a great vid Im up and running!

  • @LunaHotBabe You're Videos are Hot.

  • Good tutorial but not complete. It also requires to open to FTP port on router in order for some one outside your home network wants to to FTP connection.

  • Great Vid "it works if you know what you are doing" lol....

  • @x66rubixmonster66x Dont cry about it, its not his fault ur stupid!

  • how can you delete files and modify them and stuff?

  • @bradman5505 only if you set it as write read and modify

  • I'd put the port as 21 which is the standard for FTP.

  • @ultimateinfinity21

    TCP port 21

  • is it possible to transfer files from pc to pc? i remember i've done that once but i am a little bit confused now? :( ty in advance

  • Dude! you are scrolling through at F1 speed, what about the ordinary mortals like us?

  • Good tutorial buddy. Thanks :-)

  • Nice guide it's very informative. I went against using Filezilla on my webserver as I have a dynamic IP and it doesn't seem to like the addresses anymore

One thing to note is you tend to scan over all the points very quickly so anyone trying to learn may have to go back again. Would be a bit better slowed down on each window

  • what is the wall paper iv been looking 4 it 4 a wile now

  • very nice! It helped me alot !! :)

  • windows passcode???

  • very nice dude

  • Thank you for the video tutorial, it was very helpful in setting up my home server!

  • Nice tutorial, I will give it a try.

But how is the speed, is it like always (slow upload)?

  • write me on pm? :)

  • hey man i have problem when i go to my friend and i can t connect to my ftp server.

But i can cnonnect only over my computer where is the ftp server..

sry for my bad english :))

  • u need to port foward

  • Hektik vid

  • Thanks Duncan. Just what I was looking for!

  • thanks could you tell me to with a ftp cleint to edit and delete files.

  • Thank you! SO MUCH!!!

  • Thank you very much for the tutorial. :) Worked perfectly. I'm thinkin' of making one, too. In German language.

Well this is off topic but what's the windows theme called?

  • please, when i try to add a file into the shared folder, it ads and when i click on "ok", it tells me that "at least one shared directory is not a valid local path." please help, i dont know what to do

  • will this work on a ps3 with an installed other operating system using ubuntu 9.4

  • *edit ICMPv4 inbound

  • This works from anywhere if you change windows firewall to allow ICPMv4

  • sorry the server's ip is 10.13.243.98

  • Thanks to this video i created my own server 10.13.143.98, visit us i created even a website abitofeverything. host56. com

  • This is a great video, but how do you make the FTP access public, like if you want to connect from outside the network.

  • You have to do a port forwarding on your modem. Normally what you have to do is to point port 20 and 21 to your local ftp server from your modem. And allow it from the rest of the world. If you have modem that supports port forwarding it should be a no-brainer to complete.

  • what ip is it

  • what ip do i put in the thing .. the 198.168.1.1 or the one that shows up when i trype whatsmyip ?

i tried with both and even port forwarding port 21 and it just wont connect idk wtf is wrong with it

  • You have to set it up with your local ip. And then port forward it to this machine.

  • THANSK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Idea

  • 6. go fuck yourself

  • 7. Keep posting stuipid ass chain letter and your dick will fall off. Then your mom will pick it up and feed it to the dog.

  • Thanks for that! Really good vid!

  • I am getting a "530 invalid user" error when entering my external IP Address in say Mozilla (e.g. if I want to log on to the ftp site from remote). No problem logging on to the FTP site from at home. Does anyone have any thoughts? thanks.

  • cool it works thanks

  • Thank You Very Much Brother... It Really Helps Me Alot... Yourst Thankfully Muhammad AtharUddin...

  • Thanks I've just seted up mine!

  • ok this is all great and all but my isp blocks port 80 and theres no settings to unblock it on the account settings, do i have to call them and ask them if they can unblock it????? or can i make it run on another port???

  • Your ISP usually doesn't allow servers without a special payment plan

  • I'm Lucky. Mine (tiscali) does. Just not for business purposes.

  • does telstra make u pay extra to hoste a ftp server off my own computer?

  • I don't know

  • Im using filezilla ftp client not this one

  • btw the version I DL was 3.2.3.1, I am useing XP MCE SP 3

  • what version was this? as when I DL filezilla the setup was totally different ,and so your vid made little sense as I could not follow what you did.. cheers.

  • thanks now this is a great way for me to be free and share files

  • You could make it even more interesting by buying a cheap domain name and using a nameserver service such as zoneedit to tie the domain name to your the IP your ISP gives you to the domain name you purchase.

  • Yeah, this is awesome if you want to be able to download files from the computer that you're working on, which would technically just be an interesting way to copy files to a different director. But if you want to access your "server" remotely you would need to alter some settings in your router to allow for port forwarding.

  • *directory not director

  • i completely get it but how do you find out your windows password? that's the only thing holding me back. can someone help

  • thanks

  • american accent powa :D Nice tutorial

  • ok im in now how can i access remotely

  • Thanks dude REALY helped with the web server!

  • that could be like your back up files

  • lol compuaaaa servaaaa lol great video :)

  • this is extremely confusing, do i put my internet ip, local ip, or the one it came with in the box?

  • Great Video!

  • great video! but how do i get my server to work from the internet? you said you would go into that later..and never did :( lol. Thanks

    Rhemelious

  • a blank page appears if i type h t t p:// 1 2 7 . 0 . 0 . 1 what m i doing wrong? i am righ ton the f t p one

  • Mine used to work now all it says is,

Error, could not connect to server

Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds

    Reconnecting to server...

Error, could not connect to serve

    over and over again.

  • im seeing the same cannot connect error

  • I LOVE YOU THANK YOU!!!! <--- Sarcastically

  • Dose this work with PHP based web pages.

  • when I go to 127.0.0.1, its says "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" I followed all the directions, and there are no errors in the application. ???

  • that happened to me - you need to type it as:

    ftp://127.0.0.1/

  • dude he probly turned off the file server

  • ftp://

  • If I want to make a lan ftp like this one - shat port should I chose?

  • Defauly FTP port is 21. Secure FTP is 23, if I remember correctly. Shouldn't really matter as long as all ports are allowed/forwarded correctly.

  • i wish my teachers could talk as good and as fast as u can !

  • you sounds soo much like simon cowell... why?

  • here how i became interested in this:

one day,i was searching for how to make a smoke bomb

when i typed how to make i saw the option "HOW TO MAKE A VIRUS"

i just clicked on it and i started learning about simple viruses

then, while i was searching for viruses i found a vid named how to make a simle program in notepad

    i started learning about this

then i thought i have to tell the world about hacking, viruses, programs and i wanted to make my own website

    and i started learning html

  • ks Duncan i really needed this video tutorial

  • Hi Duncan,

Great video, I have got a computer seeing itself locally but would like to see it from other computers on the network and be able to access it from remotely from over the net. I think you mentioned in this video you would go into that, maybe you could make a nice new "how to" video.

    TomHackers

  • Thank you so much! I can't believe how easy it when you gave this tutorial. Nice detail and good step-by-step instructions, thanks again. 5/5

  • also to add to djlawnboy, it's like streaming files from your pc to your xbox 360. There may be a lag or a tad slow stream/download to those accessing it but the computer wont go any slower unless someone was uploading files to that computer. Still that's not going to slow it down plus it's a server computer it should be a primary computer of yours anyway, it should stay on in a well vented corner and just add/remove things to the server. oh and don't use a laptop!!

  • For all that say ftp suck or filezilla doesn't work, or only works for in home use.... you are wrong. Making an ftp server is easy, the only hard thing is having a computer that is window xp 32bit based... not hard and the other is the user, if you can't set it up then odds are you don't require a ftp. and btw Mozilla all the way Microsoft's internet explorer sucks period....

  • is this slow down youre comp whenn more people loged in an downloading?

  • I like cant get it to work on Internet explorer 7

  • Does this work with Windows internet explorer?

  • youre background gots 7000 layers i saw on deviantart thats so crazy Oo

  • Great video worked first time :) Thanks alot rock on britian :D

  • This is starting to piss me off. Been messing around with Filezilla for 5 hours now, reading help docs, going through tutorial, and it still isn't working. It shouldn't be this hard, DAMN IT. Just file to computer via wireless connection.

    X

  • So You Have 1 PC (Main)

    And Another (Server)

And You Just Share Data Via The Network?

  • Well it only works for people who are connected to my wireless router, doesn't work worldwide.

(I'm using a proxy server my isp gave me btw, dunno why i can't access the internet when I don't put that proxy server (only the proxy server given by my isp works)

  • But this only work on the same computer ?

127.0.0.1 = localhost right? How should i do if a want a world wide FTP?

  • Ipchicken(.)com

  • Thanks, nice guide!

  • ok i think you r awesome but, how do you make it go open to the internet

  • lol u sound a bit like simon cow rofl

  • i only get a cant find page error when i try to connect....i changed it to ftp:// and used 127.0.0.1 like it told me but it cant connect

  • help me all i can connect to is ftp://127.0.0.1 how can i make it worldwide

  • To make it world wide you need to know your IP.

    your Ip is youe website,ftp,Etc...

  • British guys sound so smart!!!

  • 2 right we do! :D

  • Great video!!! I have been trying to learn to do this and now I understand. You are a great teacher!!THANKS

  • thx :)

  • thanks dude, this helped alot.

  • this is great but how can i access it form a different computer?

  • Thanks alot, this answered all my questions.

  • cool

  • its clear

  • I dont know how to connect from the internet into ftp just created server on adress ftp://127.0.0.1/ and probably everybody has same adress... I cannot imagine how it may works when 500 pc´s has same ftp adress.. please response

  • 127.0.0.1 is your lokal ip adres but not world wide

  • good tut works for me now

  • Do you have a router because i do and i think it's blocking... but gd vid thankz it help me

  • u need to configure your router..

  • how do you configure your router? I have a router and vista. lol

  • you need to open ports 80 and 21

  • Great tutorial!

What is the theme you are using called? xD

    It's really nice =P

  • slanxp 2.0

  • Thank you! :D

  • What would be the security concerns associated with this?

  • do i have to install fileZIlla in other pc? to access my FTP Serverrrrrrrrrrr?

  • i tried to access my files in different computer.... i used my friend's computer to test if its working, then, i cannot access it! why???? anyone can help me here?

  • Do you have a router on your network?? if so you will have to portfoward probberly

  • if looked up my IP at "whatsmyip dot com" ant put my ip in the "connect to server" thing, but it still wont connect, what did i do wrong?

  • Maybe your firewall is enabled, stopping people from downloading files. Disable firewall.

  • you have a dynamic IP... you'll need a static IP to setup your server
