someone cruel cut off the tail of two horses i know. yes, it grows. but very slow :(((( poor mares in summer with all the insects!

It is tradition to clip lusitano and andalusian mares in spain. the mares are never used for riding, just breeding. it is not safe for a horse with such a long mane and tail to be out to pasture on hundreds of acres. they can get tangled up in fences and branches. however, i feel that this tradition has become stylized since these mares spend most of their days in stalls...

to the person bellow, Mexican horses usually do have their tails shaved and manes roached.
