yes its real and yes its common for snakes to try to eat something way larger then itself. it will die tryin to digest it which happened here. i have 3 pythons and no matter how many rats u give it it will kill all of them and shove them all down there throats normally the 1st one that goes in comes out not digested even more common in smaller snakes. like the one in the video above its a reticulated python which will grow to 30 ft long and will hit just about anything that moves in the wild.
