I'm hitting the "again-button" the third time in a row now... I think I need help! I really am in trouble, because I don"t think we can find such music live anymore. Mike? Simon? Would you please call the doctor or come back on stage with this unbelieveable masterpiece!!!
@lukaszswietek.. to me he seems the older brother of Flea, from RHCP! ^_^
Crisis was MY 1° album of Mike, in fully 80's era. ♥ I was 14..
It was 1 of the last breaths of good air in synthpop music scene of those years. After that Discovery, IMO not quite at the level of his previous work.. and then we find him being fully creative again only in the 90's, but I was already interested in other ...
Well, as they say: it's never too late, especially when we talk about music!
For some reason the director has decided the best way to show a Simon Phillips drum solo is to get close-ups of cymbals. Ooh glittery things. Show the hands and feet next time you arse!
Good thing i went looking for Mt teide tonight because i got this too, thats fucking great, saw Simon Phillips at a drum clinic in the eighties, he played for 45mins like this, always wondered why the end of crises on the record was so pinned down, i knew it would have been done like this live, i saw mike in 81 in australia with a different band, great, thanks ..., i can't resist a dig at those shorts though.
Simon's drumming fits beautifully with Oldfield's music. Having them reunite now that Toto's disbanded would be terrific. When I got to see this in Würzburg I went with a drummer just to see how Simon would pull off the Crises solo. Not only did he pull it off, he surpassed it. And the entire night, he and Mike had this great rapport on stage.
@riteofman Ohh thank you!!! I did it for you, enjoy it. This is my favorite too. I remember that he repeat "crises" coz he got no response (sweden 84) but I yell and jump and wistling, wonder if he heard that?
And Mickey Simmonds who went on to play with Fish (Marillion) and Phil Spaulding (I think Alan Parsons band at onetime!)...so some great musicians to complement Mike!
i listened to this in the early 80s stationed in germany, at full bore everyone in those solid concrete billits listend with me weather they wanted to or not. if you've never listened to it all, and really LOUD you're cheating yourself. HOLY $#!+!!!
Dudes!!!!...forget about the shorts.......back in the day (1984) those shorts were all the rage....they were so popular they made the ladies so wet they couldn't sit down cause they were always slipping off their chairs......"Never Underestimate The Power Of Red Shorts"....
You have never seen this piece Live.....never ever ever ever....this shit is the shit is the fucking shit on a seriously fucking fucked up fucking sound system like I have.....I played it through the speakers and the fucking neighbours started pounding on the fucking door so I ran it through my head phones and then started to piss blood..........fucking enjoy Bro.......fucking enjoy.....this bitch really starts to fucking cook at around 05:00
Oh my God. What a fucking drummer.

hahaha. The bassist looks a little bit gayish , doesnt he ? He always wears so strange clothes, and ear rings.

Holy crap how good is Simon Philips' drumming here! I love how a sequence is going constantly underneath his soloing. Works beautifully.
